Difficult to access...45 minutes by motorised boat then another 40 minutes walk through a dusty lopsided trail and then another 40 minutes down the Amazon tributary to the Sandoval lake. Then another 40 odd steep steps up. Certainly not for older travellers but an amazing visit nonetheless. We were 25 in a group visiting all the way from India and...

Stay here two nights recently. Due to airline over booking and getting bumped were delayed and ended up walking through the jungle for an hour and 40 min paddle over lake in the dark. Staff handled it with aplomp and made an experience of it. In rainy season the track would be quite muddy and it was wet with some...

This is a beautiful place base yourself for an Amazon experience, it provides the perfect base from which to be guided across the lake to see Giant River Otters and Cayman or into the jungle to see giant trees, birds monkeys and insects. 3 nights is the perfect length for stay. The food is excellent and the staff friendly. If...

The resort is great for what it is, a lodge in the middle of the jungle. There is no ceiling in the rooms, and they all are connected under a common roof. We struck 12 C weather in the jungle, it was freezing cold. The staff found extra blankets for the beds, which was much appreciated. We saw great otters,...

We stayed 3 nights in May 2016 and can highly recommend the experience. Need to be aware that it is a trek to get there (well worth it thought) with a 30-40 min boat ride, then 3km walk (sometimes through mud - we were provided with gum boots) and then a beautiful 30 min paddle across the Sandoval lake itself....ahhh...

Well worth the trudge through knee-deep mud for about one hour to reach the lake for the 30min canoe ride to the Lodge. Accommodation was very comfortable, food was excellent. Canoe trip around Sandoval Lake at both dawn and dust was so peaceful with the sounds of the jungle. Many opportunities to view the beautiful birds and wildlife in their...

We stayed at Sandoval Lake Lodge for 4 nights at the end of December 2015. We were two adults and teenagers 13 and 15. We had a wonderful stay. The best part about the stay was seeing the giant river otters! We went out in the boat every morning because we told our guide the otters were the main reason...

I have mixed feelings about this place. It was truly a memorable experience, and I'm very glad we did it, however, I'm not sure I'd do it again. 1) Not easy to get to. We booked flights with StarPeru, and our trip was delayed many hours because there was light rain in the Amazon, and apparently StarPeru planes are not...

Dear guest Thank you for sharing your experience. Unfortunatelly STAR PERU is notthe best option to get to Puerto Maldonado but working with LAN or AVIANCA/TACA is a better choice as they have modern airplanes that have a devise to help them fly when weather is not 100% OK As for mosquitoes the best is to bring long sleeves T...

Firstly, it is not very close to Puerto Maldonado as some have claimed and that is a plus. Its forty minutes by fast boat down river from Puerto Maldonado to the beginning of a 3 kilometre walk down a muddy trail through the Tambopata Reserve to reach a small landing. My wife and I didn't find the trail a problem...

We traveled to Sandoval Lake Lodge with 5 children, ages 9 to 12. The Lodge was exceptional. We saw so many animals, monkeys, birds, river otter, snakes, caimens, etc. We found the rooms comfortable, the staff helpful and the food good and plentiful. I have only one tip: make sure to book your stay with www.inkanatura.com and not www.sandovallakelodge.com. www.inkanatura.com...

Dear guest Thank you for sharing your experience. Indeed there is a company that has the domain name Sandoval Lake Lodge and they used to work with us sometimes but most of the time they use their own lodge located beside the "REAL" Sandoval Lake Lodge which is owned by us. Now, we are not working with them anymore as...
