Detailed Reviews
Having never been to the islands before, we picked Pelistry cottage due to its central location and it did not disappoint.
Before we even arrived the owner, Anne was very helpful sending us information enabling us to plan our stay, meals out, trips and her local knowledge was fantastic.
We managed to visit all the inhabited islands plus Samson and Bishops Rock where we saw lots of seals and sea birds.
Our room was very clean and so cosy and we especially liked that you could sit in the window seat and the little nook and watch all the comings and goings.
The breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed catching up with the other guests and sharing ideas for the day ahead. Every day Anne gave us boat times for that day, weather and all the information we would need.
We were so well looked after and could not have wished for a better host!
Thank you Anne we had a lovely stay and hope to see you again in the future x

Our third stay at Pelistry Cottage and we wouldn’t stay anywhere else. Apart from being centrally located in Hugh Town the owner Anne is very warm, welcoming and friendly. The rooms are very comfortable with a fridge in 3 of the 4 rooms most with fresh milk, biscuits and tea and coffee (the other room can get milk from the breakfast room) and little area in each with chairs where you can sit and read after a lovely day walking and visiting the different gorgeous islands. There is outside seating too where you can eat breakfast on warm morning or have a cuppa or takeaway.
St Mary’s island itself is stunning and has gorgeous coastline and beaches. A lot of folk rush off to the other islands but we would highly recommend not missing out on the treasure that is St Mary’s.
There are lots of very good cafes, restaurants, pubs and takeaways. Our favourite is Dibble and Grub which is a tapas restaurant on porthcressa beach. If you want to have dinner there you will need to book way in advance as it’s really popular.
Apart from all this porthcressa beach is a lovely place to have a picnic/coffee and watch the world go by.
The Isles of Scilly are stunning and unspoilt and you certainly leave feeling refreshed and revitalised from being there. That is certainly our experience and Anne and staying at her cottage enhance that experience for us. Thank you Anne. Looking forward to staying again with you next year.

Just spent a week at Pelistry Cottage and it was the perfect place to stay. Bryony was a fantastic, friendly host and provided us with everything we needed. Breakfasts were first class and had the lovely option of eating outside in the sunshine in the really comfortable outdoor seating area in front of the cottage. The cottages’ central location is great for access to all Hugh Town’s beaches and shops and the quay is only a five minute walk. Our room was lovely, clean and spacious with a very comfortable bed. Highly recommended and we will definitely stay again.

We had a delightful time at Pelistry Cottage being hosted by Bryony. The room was comfortable and we appreciated the tea, coffee, fresh milk and biscuits provided and replenished daily. Breakfast was plentiful and the option of a BLT sandwich to take away was fantastic. We enjoyed chatting to the other guests and Bryony over breakfast, picking up hints and tips to help us on our first trip to the Islands. Bryony also provided us with an interesting insight into island life. Thank you for a wonderful stay

Our first stay on the Isles of Scilly. Pelistry Cottage was perfect and Anne made us so welcome and looked after us really well.
Our room was light and airy and very comfortable. Tea and coffee was plentiful with fresh milk available when you needed it. The dining room was welcoming and breakfast had a good choice and good quality ingredients.
There is a little garden on the front of the cottage with some garden furniture, a lovely space to sit when you come back after your day out.
Anne provided information on the boat times and plenty of information about local events etc. after breakfast.
Situated just a short walk to the harbour to book and board the boats to the other islands and just over the road from the lovely Porthcressa beach which was a lovely place to sit anytime of day.
We didn’t visit all the other islands as we were only staying 4 nights but have booked for a longer stay next year.
Would highly recommend this friendly and comfortable B&B but you need to book early as it is very popular and we can see why.
Thank you Anne for making our stay so enjoyable. See you in 2025

We enjoyed a fantastic 5 night stay. Our host Bryony was really helpful and made us feel very welcome and at home. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection and there was so much on the menu to choose from. The room was very spacious, with a large comfortable bed. It was very quiet at night, with plenty of storage space in the room for our clothes etc, a mini fridge, fresh milk, tea, coffee and biscuits were replenished in the room daily. All very clean and well kept with a lovely en-suite shower room with some very nice toiletries supplied. We were able to use the dining room facilities to have our own takeaway meal one evening which was great. We could not fault this lovely guesthouse and would highly recommend.

Stayed at Pelistry cottage for the 4 nights we stayed in Hugh town, perfect location for all the local amenities, beaches, Quay for boat trips, restaurants and pubs. The room was very clean, plentiful supply of tea and coffee, beach towels provided. Bryony made a delicious breakfast each day, good choice of cooked breakfast, cereals, croissants, plentiful supply of fresh fruit, bread for toasting fresh coffee and tea. Each morning during breakfast Bryony gave us info for the daily boat trips and events happening in and around Hugh town, recommendations which islands to visit, very helpful friendly young lady with lots of local knowledge re St Marys and the other islands. Would definitely stay again. Thanks for making our trip extra special.

We last stayed at Pelistry Cottage in 2012 and are sad we left it 9 years before we returned. In all our dealings with Anne you couldn't ask for a more helpful or friendly host. Despite the need for Covid-19 measures we always felt incredibly safe and the rooms, breakfasts and outdoor seating area (at the front) are great. Rooms have all the necessary touches such as copious tea, coffee and milk plus a fridge. Wifi is good and the arrangements for departure and leaving bags for later collection worked incredibly well. We have recommended Pelistry to friends and relatives and know of relatives who have also stayed here and wouldn't go elsewhere. We will be returning again much sooner than 9 years and can't wait.

We recently spent 10 days at Pelistry Cottage, Isles of Scilly on a B+B basis. We found our room very comfortable, of a good size and breakfast was cooked well. The cottage was in a good central position on St Mary's with easy access to the quay and the boats to other islands. Both town beaches and Porthcressa beach were minutes away
We were looked after very well by Bryony who gave good friendly help and advice. Overall, this was a very enjoyable stay which was helped by exceptionally warm weather.

I booked Pelistry cottage because of the reviews on Trip Adviser, however, I was very disappointed with the accomodation. Our room was described as large although in reality it was fairly modest in size. The room itself and en-suite was clean and it was very quiet at night. Breakfast is only served at 8.30, no other time, tables are often shared and it's sometimes a squeeze to get in and out to do toast etc. The food itself was ok but not cooked very well, overdone eggs and cremated bacon, so much so that the last morning we were there we just made our own toast (not just us!). Our tea tray in the room was not replenished every day. The communal lounge is a great idea and we did use it in the evenings, however, it needed a thorough clean, it was very dusty, there were papers (for the fire) just strewn around, and all the info in the folders was years out of date. It just needed some attention. We were also a bit disappointed with the lack of local knowledge, despite what others have written.
