We stayed at Longstone Lodge over the Whitsun Bank holiday weekend although initially It was a struggle to find good accommodation for a family of 4 at a reasonable price for less than a week on St.Marys. However Longstone Lodge couldn't have been more flexible allowing us to stay in the 6 bed Hostal room which was more than adequate for a family of 4 and a million miles away from the memories of traditional hostals. The room was spotless and kitted with a fridge, kettle and microwave to offset the fact the communal kitchen wasn't open due to the Covid restrictions. All the staff were informative, helpful and couldn't have been more friendly. The connected cafe has great food and worked perfectly for us when having a late breakfast. All in all difficult to fault this place, even the 20 minute walk into town was enjoyable, weve already booked for 2022!

I stayed at Longstone Lodge for ten nights and absolutely loved it! The staff was more than friendly and accommodating. The little "shop for essentials" at the reception is gold worth, and the lockdown amenities to compensate for the closing of communal spaces in form of an individual little fridge, microwave and kettle in each room plus the daily "washing up" service were a sheer luxury. My (single) room was extremely comfortable, minimalistic but I did not miss anything. Lovely surroundings, 25 minutes walking distance to the harbour, and 20 minutes walking distance to the airport was also convenient and perfect. And through a scenic gorgeous little wild footpath one reached Hellick Bay within 20 minutes, too. The food in the café is superb, but as I was out all day walking on the different isles, I only was there twice. There is the option of buying ready frozen homemade meals also to warm up in the microwave. I cannot wait to come back because this place is the perfect accommodation for a moderate price for people who do not really want the full service of a hotel, but want to be a lot more comfortable than on a camping site. The site is very friendly and open spaced, lots of tables to sit outside, a playground for children, but in itself very quiet. I was very very content and happy there and cannot wait to get back!

We stayed 4 nights on the island and chose Longstone Lodge for the price and facilities (pre Covid). It was the right decision. Rooms are a good size and clean. The balcony is an added bonus. It's a little further out of town, but only around a 20 minute walk. The cafe has a nice menu which we enjoyed once and there are microwave items/beverages available for use in the rooms at a reasonable price. Great stay.

A great place to stay, centrally located to explore the lovely island of St Mary's. Simple, spotless and very welcoming everything about staying at Longstone Lodge exceeded our expectations. This is a great alternative to other types of more expensive accommodation and the provision of a microwave, fridge and kettle in the room allowed us to be flexible. (adaptation due to Covid) Warm croissants delivered to your room was an extra bonus in the morning. The cafe looked lovely too but as we were out and about during the day we didnt go in.

My husband and I had 4 nights in a twin bedded ensuite room with a shower. The room was clean on arrival and had a kettle, small hanging space for clothes plus USB points for charging electronic devices. We had our own private space outside with wooden decking and a bench and 2 chairs to sit on. There were also 2 fold up chairs in our room which could be used in the room or taken outside. There is a shared kitchen with 2 kettles, 2 microwaves, an oven and a toaster plus plenty of crockery and cutlery. There is plenty of seating to eat your breakfast or meals in the kitchen plus a TV too. The kitchen we found was a very sociable space as other holiday makers were happy to chat with you and quite a few we met had stayed at the Lodge before. The Lodge has a freezer full of home made meals made by them which are very reasonably priced and can be cooked in the microwave from frozen. We had their chicken and mango curry one day and a lamb hot pot on another. Both of these meals were excellent and good sized portions. You can also buy other items at the Lodge in the reception area such as cereal, jam, milk, chocolate, teabags, coffee etc. There is also a cafe at the Lodge which is open during the day from 10am - 4pm. There is a small laundry room too should you wish to do any washing. The staff who work at the hostel and cafe are very friendly and helpful if you have any queries. We would definitely stay here again.

My friend and I stayed in a twin bed room for three nights which was delightful. Very clean and bright. Excellent shower and very comfy beds. Each of the rooms had their own little balcony with table and chairs for eating out with view of garden. Very quiet and peaceful- look up at the stars on a clear night! Staff friendly and helpful. You can order a warm croissant to be delivered to your door very morning. There is a cafe attached which we were only able to visit once due to tight schedule but can recommend the toasties! A short walk from town. Can’t recommend this hostel enough!

So impressed with both accommodation and team at Longstone Lodge. Lovely rooms, well equipped and spotless. Great cafe, really helpful staff and thorough Covid safety precautions. The location is perfect for walking and exploring St Marys as it’s about a mile from the coast in all directions so circular walks to and from anywhere work well. Best value for money of anywhere I have ever stayed on Scilly.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Longstone Lodge. At first we were a bit concerned we were too far from Hugh Town, but we found we really enjoyed the walk each day with our two girls (aged 6 & 8). If anything it just meant we spent more time enjoying the outdoors as we would pack bags for the whole day out. The family room at the lodge was perfect for our needs and the staff and other guests all friendly. The shared facilities were unavailable due to COVID restrictions, but the lodge provided us with a microwave, kettle and fridge in the room, and washed our crockery and cutlery for us, which meant we were still able to have meals at the accommodation on our picnic bench or in the pretty gardens.

We shared a communal bunk room - it was perfect for our needs exploring Scilly for a week. Everything very modern and clean. Cafe attached to the hostel is excellent also. The hostel is close to walking routes to allow swift access to any of St Mary's.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at Longstone Lodge. The rooms are simple and clean with well-functioning bathrooms. Beds are comfortable. It was convenient having a mini-frig and hot pot in our room. We enjoyed sitting on our deck in the late afternoon after a busy day of exploring. The shared kitchen works well for breakfast and was never too busy or crowded, and a good place to sit for a meal. There is a good assortment of groceries available at reception if you haven’t had the opportunity to stop at the grocery store on the way in (breakfast foods and even some homemade shepherd’s pie, chili, veg chili, etc. to microwave, and wine and beer). The kitchen is well organized with a bin for food storage for each room and supplies are available to label food stored in the refrigerator and freezer. The cafe serves delicious lunches, snacks and amazing cakes from about 10 to 4 PM. The lodge is a 20-25 min walk from town and if you don’t feel like walking and time it right, there’s a community bus that stops near the lodge entrance, or taxis for hire. The staff were absolutely delightful, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Finally, the grounds are lovely with a nice play area for children and families, and a large garden, tended by volunteers, with many benches to rest and relax. We would happily return to Longstone Lodge!

"The lodge is just a little way out of the town centre, but worth the journey (took us about 15 minutes on bikes) for the wonderful ambience."
