This B& B was an excellent find for us and we were very lucky to get in. The owners have a policy of prioritising existing guests and we had to wait to ensure all who wanted to re-booked had.
Jen and Dan are superb hosts, nothing is too much trouble for their guests. The moment we arrived our cases were stored to one side and we were given a well needed cuppa and some lovely apple cake.
Our room was tastefully decorated and incredibly clean with lovely white fluffy towels, toiletries, hairdryer, tea, coffee and fresh biscuits. The bed was very comfortable and the room was serviced everyday.
Breakfasts are excellent, extremely varied and plentiful. This was eaten in an L shaped dinning room with fantastic views over the beach. Your table numbers are moved around the tables each day to take in the different views and to enable to to chat with different guests. The dinning room was extended onto an open terrace, which on warmer days was also available for you to have your breakfast alfresco. Lynn and Belinda help by serving breakfast and are also very good source of local knowledge.
There is also a lovely garden with tables, chairs and umbrellas to relax in after a day walking on one of the outstanding off islands.
There are many places to eat (booking in advance advisable) and also some very good takeaways. If you let Jen know that you will be having a takeaway that evening you will find plates and cutlery left out on the dresser for you. There is also a guest fridge to use which is also stocked with cool water and fresh milk and a honesty bar of wine, drinks and chocolate/ snacks for guests.
Beach towels are available to use everyday.
To save queuing on the quay boat tickets can be purchased from Jen and Dan, which is ideal if running a little late after your very large breakfast!
We enjoyed our stay so much that we booked for next year before leaving and cannot wait to return to this very relaxing guest house and beautiful islands.

We received a very warm welcome from Jen. We were early for check in, but were able to leave our luggage and go off and explore. The location is excellent, right on Porthcressa beach, 5 minutes walk down to the Quay.
The room was lovely and we had everything you needed. The sea view was beautiful from our windows.
Breakfast was lovely, so much choice, and we watched the seals popping there heads up in the bay every morning. I love the way you sit at a different table every morning, although the views are fab wherever you sit. I love how the boat men pop in at breakfast and let you know what trips are running. Dan and Jen were always. very friendly and happy to help with anything.

Very organised re: covid. Wearing masks when walking about and hand sanitizers available etc. You could fill out a form if you needed anything for the room, and room cleaning done once a week.

Will definitely stay here again when we return, Thankyou.

This charming guesthouse is right on the edge of Porthcressa beach in Hugh Town. We were fortunate to get a room at short notice after reading a review in Coast magazine.
There are only 9 rooms and so the atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. The owners are utterly charming and make all the guests feel very welcome, a real home from home feeling. Our room was well appointed, we were very comfortable and it was decorated in a light and airy style - the view over the garden and the beach beyond was delightful. The breakfast menu is justifiably award winning, an extensive choice and all was cooked to perfection - the homemade waffles were particularly yummy! Each morning we were seated at a different table which was a nice touch, everyone gets a turn at the best of the views. The owner is knowledgeable about the islands and is happy to offer help and advice where needed. It was really handy to be able to buy boat tickets from him which avoided the long queues at the ticket office on the quay.
We have stumbled on a real gem and will definitely return.

This Guest House well deserves the excellent reviews it already has. From the time we arrived we were made to feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The room was great, well maintained and as with all aspects of this Guest House standards of cleanliness were consistently high. Its location has to be the best in Hugh Town with its views out across the bay and easy access to the town and the quay. The breakfast was also superb with plenty of choice, freshly prepared. Dan would always come into the dining area after breakfast to check on his guests and sell boat tickets to the other islands if needed. We can unreservedly recommend this Guest House it is a great place to stay. We hope to return some day

This guest house is the best we've ever stayed at, not only it's location but the welcome feeling we experienced. Very important to us is the type of people that run accommodation and Jen, Dan and the team certainly know how to do this, especially during a pandemic. Our room was very comfortable with all the facilities we could possibly need and a view we loved. After each excellent breakfast either Jen or Dan would greet each guest and provide all the information you would need for your day, in particular boat trip details. Everything we needed for a superb holiday. We'll be back! Simon and Sheila

From the moment we arrived at The Wheelhouse we were made to feel incredibly welcome. Pretty tired after a horrendously early start to drive to Penzance for the ferry, we massively appreciated the enthusiastic welcome along with the tea and (lemon drizzle) cake.
We were were given a tour and taken to our spotlessly clean and inviting room to freshen up ahead of our first day's exploration.
The Tourism Association is just steps away overlooking Porthcressa Beach - we also had a side window view of the beach from our room - room 7. The staff there were brilliant but, to be honest, Dan and Jen, Lynne and Belinda are like a mini tourism association themselves. So knowledgeable and generous with their knowledge and, of course, you can buy St Mary's Boatmen Association tickets from The Wheelhouse to save you joining long queues at the quay.
The breakfasts at The Wheelhouse are delicious - generous and varied and so you'll never get bored over the course of the week.
We had a wonderful time at The Wheelhouse. It's a lovely, relaxed and welcoming guest house and perfect as a base for exploring this unique and beautiful part of the world. We managed to visit all the islands with the exception of Bryher (the tides weren't on our side that day). We will definitely return as there is to much more to see for keen walkers such as ourselves.

I was recently lucky enough to spend a few days at the Wheelhouse with a friend. She hod asked if I'd like to go in lieu of her daughter who sadly was unable to make it. My friend absolutely loves the Isles of Scilly, goes every year and always stays at the Wheelhouse ... which says it all!! The location could not be better - overlooking the beach and a stones throw from all the amenities of Hugh Town. It is a family business and Dan and Jen are so friendly and informal while at the same time ensuring they run a very efficient and successful B&B with extremely high standards in all areas. The rooms are immaculate and very comfortable, the breakfasts are delicious and Dan, Jen and their team are always on hand to answer any queries, help with arrangements etc. It was my first trip to the islands and unfortunately I had to miss two days after being 'pinged' on the covid App. However I was quickly bitten by the 'Scilly' bug and will certainly return for many more days ... hopefully staying at the Wheelhouse whenever possible.

The photos are views from the breakfast room and garden.

A wonderful b&b right next to the beach. Home from home accommodation with everything thought of for the holidaymakers comfort and needs. The hosts, Jen and Dan and their staff were accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. There is a guest lounge and conservatory available and the rooms are comfortable and airy. I'd highly recommend.

The Wheelhouse has an enviable position overlooking Porthcressa beach and to wake up to the sound of lapping (or crashing) waves is a delight. Dan and Jen always go the extra mile, nothing is to difficult for them and Dan's breakfast's is legendary.
Accommodation is superb, the rooms are well provided, immaculately clean and very comfortable. Guest lounge areas are very nice and we always enjoy the company of our fellow guest for that week. Booked again - that sums it up, well worth the long trip from NE England.

The location by Porthcressa beach is perfect. Lovely to hear the sounds of the sea from your bedroom. The varied and extensive breakfast menu is the best I have ever seen in a B and B. In an ideal world I would have liked a more spacious bedroom but then you do have the use of the lounge and the garden. We were in room 6 which has a window overlooking the beach. It also has access to a shared balcony.

The Wheelhouse is booked solid a year ahead and you have no chance at all this summer I'm afraid. If you want to visit the Isles of Scilly you will need to book at least a year in advance
