Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

There is something magical about the Scillies, but until now I have never found a place to stay that matches my feelings for the Islands (at a reasonable price anyway!). This lovely property has very spacious bedrooms, high quality fixtures/fittings & the decor, even at the end of the season, looks fresh & clean. From entry to the grounds from the little lane, Carnweathers looks fantastic. The gardens are extensive & filled with native trees/shrubs & flowers & the pool just stops you in your tracks, it's stunning. The impressions you get from the first steps you take into the house, are those of light, space & quality. Daylight floods in from the roof lights to reveal the wide, waxed light Oak floorboards that stretch through the large hallway towards the kitchen. The lovely hand carved Oak handrail leading upstairs & the beautifully co-ordinated furnishings in the dining room & guest sitting room, leads to a sence of tranquility & relaxation. My bedroom Camellia, was spotlessly clean, (as was everywhere). The excellent quality beds, 100% cotton bath & bed linen & the large tip/tilt windows with superbly thick curtains, ensured a perfect nigts sleep every night. The constant attention to detail & relentness strive to maintain the quality & cleanliness of this superb 4 star property, is supplied by the very attentive hosts Rachel & Jeff. Thank you both, my stay with you was too short, I will make it longer next time.

We had a wonderful 3 nights at Carnwethers, the well appointed room was lovely with great views. The delicious cake on arrival was a perfect start and a sign of the attention to detail of our hosts. Breakfast was equally good and the communal table provided ample opportunity to chat with the other guests. Beautifully refurbished house stunning gardens and great pool which are son loved. Also close to great beach and costal Walks. A real gem

We stayed at Dove Lawn which was very clean and nicely decorated.Large beds, immaculate bedlinen and plenty of towels. My little dog was with us and we used hire of doggy equipment service from local vet which was excellent. There was no bus as expected (it had broken down some time before) so either 40 minute walk into Hughtown or taxi needed, so have to plan ahead.Although we enjoy walking, after a day out on other islands we didn,t relish the long walk home at the end of the day.An information folder in the property would have been welcome and maybe facilities for purchasing a few very basic supplies on site. The heated pool and gardens were lovely.

Four of us stayed in Dove Lawn which is a wonderful spacious two bedroom bungalow and we had the best time ever. The accommodation is in a beautiful garden setting and its so comfortable. the beds are just perfect and the linen beautifully fresh. The shared heated pool is just fabulous. The location is on the quieter side of St Mary's and in our opinion nearest the best beach on the Island. Its just stunning. Rachel and Jeff are lovely hosts and they made us and our doggies so welcome. We absolutely loved it and we highly recommend this gem of a place. We hired a golf buggy to get us to the ferries and back and for doing shopping and it can be recharged here. It was just an added bonus for us. We will most certainly be going again. With gratitude Olga and friends.

We have had an amazing stay in ‘The Secret Garden’ such a beautiful place, fantastic accommodation, spotlessly clean on arrival and so well laid out. It’s everything you could want, Pelistry Beach 5 minutes away is enchanting. Rachel and Jeff couldn’t have made us more welcome. We have already booked for next year. Highly recommended

Went to the scilly isles for our first family holiday with our baby daughter. Carnwethers B&B couldn't be faulted! The location is beautiful, the accommodation was everything we needed and more, and the food was absolutely delicious. Rachel and Jeff were the loveliest hosts who made us feel so welcome and were so accommodating, especially when it came to our little girl. We really liked being a bit further out from Hugh Town and the Quay and couldn't have asked for anything more. The whole experience meant that we have gone away with treasured memories of a wonderful holiday!

We have just returned home after a marvellous week in the poolside! Jeff and Rachel are so lovely and helpful, nothing was to much trouble. They really made our stay! The cottage was immaculate, very cosy and well equipped. It looks upon a beautiful garden on one side and the wonderful pool on the other. The scones, jam and cream were delicious! And a welcomed treat after our trip. There is a beautiful beach directly behind (one of our faves) where we could nip out in the morning with a brew in hand to watch the sun come up…Heaven! The whole island is magical! Staying at Carnwethers was the icing on the cake. I asked my little girls what they would give out of 10 and they replied 20! 🥰Thank you.

What a delightful place. Geoff and Rachel were absolutely brilliant hosts. We arrived in the rain with two wet dogs. They gave us loads of extra towels to dry ourselves and the dogs. Homemade scones, jam and clotted cream were waiting for us. I'm not going to lie the cottage is cosy but the bedroom and shower room were brilliant. Instant hot water, powerful shower, well designed cottage. Fully equipped kitchen. 5 mins walk to a sandy beach. Nice walks all around you. 5 mins walk to the island bus stop. Definitely recommend the suitcase pick up and drop off service. Very, very reasonable cost. You don't see your suitcases after getting on the ferry until you get to Carnwethers and then leave them out the day of return and pick them up at Penzance. The cottage was very clean. Swimming pool excellent. Lovely touch with the larder store for essential items. Its quiet, peaceful and relaxing. The islanders are friendly, trusting and always helpful. We had a great time. Highly recommend the islands and Carnwethers to anyone.
