If Mary Poppins were to run a B&B she would be hard pressed to get any better than this. Dave and Lyn were both incredibly welcoming and friendly and, for the whole weekend my partner and I were there, would go out of their way, calling friends or acquaintances, checking boat times, restaurant opening times, to make sure our weekend was the best it could be.
When we arrived, they were waiting for us with cups of tea, they chatted about our plans for the weekend and gave us fantastic advice as we were newcomers to the islands. They themselves had fallen in love with the island, only recently moving into The Old Chapel, and you could see in their countenance the adoration they possessed for their new home. We were truly honoured to be their very first guests, and I hope it's the first of many yet to come.
Breakfast was delicious, we made sure to try different things on the menu each morning and everything was beautifully cooked. Although Dave and Lyn wanted to chat to us about our plans for the day, they equally knew we may want our own space and would leave us to finish eating and would say goodbye when we left for the day.
The one thing I can take away is that it was like staying with close friends or family. Everyone was so friendly on the island, and wherever you went people would say hello. In the pub over the road, the owners knew who we were when we arrived and was just as friendly and talkative; being the winter season, there's not many tourists on the island and clearly we, being the first two guests at the Chapel and a gay couple, were the talk of the town.
The bedroom was very comfortable and styled perfectly. Everything was thought of and they're designed the rooms wonderfully. Obviously it's an old building with old quirks but you have to expect that, especially on the isolated island. But Dave and Lyn know exactly what they are doing and are working very hard indeed to perfect their little sanctuary.
PLEASE give this wonderful B&B a visit and enjoy it as much as I did. I think they have truly inspired me to want to visit the islands again and I hope to see them again very soon.

Lin and Dave are excellent hosts and make you feel welcome the minute you enter their characterful and beautiful B & B. The location is a short pleasant walk from Hugh town and set in a loevely quiet location. Lin is super helpful in checking boat timings between islands and the weather forecast for the day. The breakfast choice is excellent and I have to say that Lin makes the best scrambled eggs I've ever eaten! The rooms are tastefully decorated and kept to a high standard of cleanliness. I highly recommend a stay here during your visit to St. Mary's.

We arrived at The Old Chapel on a rainy, windy day after a terrible boat ride in force 5 winds to be greeted by the happy smiling faces of Lin and Dave and the offer of a cuppa. Our room was absolutely spotless and spacious with a very comfortable bed and a large private bathroom next door. It also had the bonus of a lovely conservatory. Besides having such a great room Lin and Dave gave us free reign to use the sitting room, conservatory and garden.

There was almost too much choice at breakfast but it was all absolutely delicious and certainly set us up for the day.
Lin and Dave were exceptional hosts providing lots of advice and help during our 4 day exploration of the islands. Dave also had some great stories to tell about the islands and the islanders.
We would not hesitate to recommend The Old Chapel to anyone.

We were lucky enough to spend a couple of nights in this wonderful house before continuing for a week on Bryher.
Everything was first class - our beautifully appointed spacious room with it's attached conservatory was a joy to return to each day and the breakfast in the morning with so many tempting choices was just delicious. Nothing was too much trouble for Lin and her warmth and friendliness made for a special first stay on this island.
We wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend The Old Chapel to anyone wanting a break on St Mary's as the only downside was having to leave as our stay was far too short!

Thank you Lin and Dave (ex-Bristolians) for a lovely week in August. Lin's fruit platter has to be seen to be believed. If you haven't been to the IOS then you appreciate the additional services provided like booking you into restaurants in the evening (or more realistically several evenings) ahead. Thank you also for the sun cream !!! The Old Chapel sits just below the Airport and just around the corner from the Old Town Harbour. Lovely spot, lovely hosts, lovely holiday. Many Thanks Dave & Alison

I've wanted to come to Scilly for over 25yrs, my wife booked the old chapel as part of my birthday weekend away. It was all lovely - from the first moment we walked through the big front door and were welcomed by Lyn to our gorgeous room.
We stayed in the Wesley room, its light and airy with a large en suite bathroom. The bathroom products are plentiful so don't bother bringing anything other than toothpaste.
The room comes complete with coffee machine and a stack of diff teas and coffees.
My very fussy wife loved breakfast so that speaks volumes! I recommend the hog pudding and Lyn's porridge.
Lyn and her husband David are so nice, they booked us on trips, phoned taxis for us, offered us lifts and generally made me feel like royalty ( card, flower's and an Easter egg on arrival!).
Would i recommend this place - YES
Why? - Ambience, decor, homely feel, friendly, great breakfasts, friendly hosts, attention to detail, all the little extras, great conservatory to sit in, value for money and
it's within walking distance of town (even for my arthritic limbs!).

If you like a B&B with character, good facilities & friendly hosts then look no further than the Old Chapel if visiting St Marys in the Isles of Scilly! Myself, wife & two friends stayed here for 10 nights in July & our hosts Lin & Dave made us very welcome. Need help with things to do or places to visit? We just had to ask & they couldnt have been more helpful. Lin's breakfasts were marvellous (if you like fruit, ask for her fruit platter - its a work of art!). Lin & Dave treated us more as friends than just guests & it made for a very relaxing holiday & all 4 of us couldnt speak highly enough of this B&B & the people who run it. Many thanks & hope to return -
Malc

Overall we had a very enjoyable stay at the Old Chapel. Both Linda and Dave were great hosts and very friendly and warm people. Would highly brecommend and we plan to stay again.

Good points

- great hosts (gave loads of advice on what to do and where to eat and made us loads of cup tea when my partner had to do an urgent piece of work)
- comfy bed
- good location (near both airport and the new town)
- very friendly and relaxed atmosphere (shared a glass of wine with us and numerous pleasant chats)
- lovely and homely house
- fantastic porridge at breakfast
- nice pub nearby

Bad points

- shower was a bit fussy and took a little while to get right temperature
- otherwise nothing negative at all

This small B&B is quiet, very comfortable and comes with a superb breakfast. (Breakfast is 'at any time and almost anything available'!).The hosts, Lin and Dave have created a very homely place to stay whilst you explore the islands and are most friendly and helpful. We had a bright sunny room with it's own ensuite sunroom. Perfect.
