We took advantage of a special 'couples getaway' for a week in the stunningly beautiful Balingup Heights cottage called 'Misty View'. The view from the cottage was breathtaking, high on the hill, seen from inside the cottage with the picture windows and even better from the deck, looking over the valley. We saw mists in the morning, clouds across the valley, beautiful green fields with cows, sheep, their friendly alpaca, gorgeous sunsets, and watched the kangaroos, kookaburras, 28s, magpies, fairy wrens and silvereyes in the trees. We slept deeply while the rain danced on the tin roof, and the fire kept us toasty warm. We were impressed with the quality of the cottage - roomy bathroom with walk in show, great pressure and hot water was almost immediate. The bed was a queen size pillow top with good quality pillows and doona etc. wood and kindling was provided and the kitchenette included hot plates, microwave, under bench fridge, slow cooker and a rice cooker. The breakfast hamper was included in our booking and included eggs, bacon, mushrooms, tomato, bread, butter, milk, fruit, orange juice, jam, vegemite and muesli! We also ordered the gourmet platter for when we arrived and this was delicious and well worth the money. Little extra touches were appreciated- binoculars, TV, cushions, tea, coffee & sugar in cannisters, cooking oil, salt and pepper, and a bbq on the deck, which meant we could be fairly self sufficient. We cooked breakfast most mornings before going out somewhere for lunch, then had dinner at 'home', where it was warm and comfortable. Balingup is a small, very pretty town, and we took advantage of how close it was to Bridgetown and Donnybrook to go somewhere different every day. We also visited the impressive Golden Valley Tree Park, and would recommend Donnybrook IGA and The local Donnybrook butcher, Blackwood Emporium for chocolate and an amazing High Tea, Bridgetown Hotel, The Cidery, and FATS (Food Art Toys Santa)! There were other places to visit which we're saving until the next time, because we had such a relaxing, wonderful time.

We stayed for 3 nights in Balingup Heights in Blythe cottage from 3-6 Aug 2020. My wife and I booked the cottage online as we wanted a peaceful place after a 3-day hike from N.Cliffe to Pemberton. The offer was very good as we had a deal for 3 nights weekday special. We received a warm welcome from Brian. As part of the deal, we received a perfect breakfast hamper upon arrival and a lunch voucher at the cidery in Bridgetown.

The cottage was cozy and looked stunning from outside as well as inside. It had everything from an outdoor sofa, BBQ, a small fireplace with wood provided inside as well as extra outside (it was a very nice touch to see that it was all ready for us to light upon arrival). The room was equipped with everything you would ever need including the kitchen, games, books, a TV with DVD's (although we never even switched it on, who would need it with such a beautiful place and view was stunning from the bed). The bathroom was very clean and had all amenities provided. One of the highlights of our stay was the misty mornings with a view of horses grazing on the hill. It was worth waking up a bit early to see this sight. We also loved the visits from Maddie (owner's dog) during her rounds around the farm. Overall we had a perfect stay and exceeded all expectations. Can't wait for another stay and will highly recommend the place to anyone who wants a getaway from the busy city life.

There are views and then there is sitting on a private deck among the trees looking out over scenic Ballingup. In cold weather the huge, spotless picture window would be just as good. This is a top spot for relaxing with views at any time of year. A stroll around the hilltop property delivers views on every side. The current trend in holiday accommodation is aesthetics over function. Not here. The cottages are equipped with many little touches that make a stay more comfortable, from nice cheese platters for your local purchases to binoculars to spot birds. Highly recommended.

My mum and I had a wonderful stay at Balingup Heights in a cute little log cabin nestled in the forest with a beautiful view over the valley . Peaceful and serene and very relaxing . We had to drag ourselves out to explore the area of Balingup , Nannup and Bridgetown .
We had the weekday special which provided a 3 day gourmet breakfast which was delicious and a voucher for lunch in Bridgetown .
Accomodation was clean and hosts were friendly .
Would highly recommend for a quiet get away with family or partner .

We really enjoyed our three nights at Balingup Heights staying in the Gum Nut Cottage. The cottage was secluded within the forest but also in a central location to the main house for animal feeding, the secret garden and the kissing gate look out. The cottage was clean, quaint and the log fire kept our cottage lovely and warm. A highlight was the morning animal feeding, my daughter loved the animals especially Maddy, Top Deck, the sheep, horses and cute little guinea pigs. This is a spectacular location and what a view from the hill! Would definitely love to return again.

Balingup Heights was the perfect destination for a quick family retreat. The hosts were absolutely delightful from the first email to our departure. So helpful and great with our kids. The animal feeding was the highlight for our girls, the peaceful countryside, lush forests and stunning views from the top of the heights was ours. The cabin was very clean, comfortable and warm (important in winter) we appreciated all the extra touches, the hosts really went above and beyond to make our stay a memorable one. We will be back again!

This is a true gem of a place, we feel so lucky to have stumbled upon it. The cottages are secluded and offers a slightly different view. They are self contained so you have everything you need that makes it really feel like a home away from home. The lookout offers a sensational vista across the valley during sunrise/sunset.

The property has an abundance of wildlife, with paths to stroll along among the trees. Animal feeding time was another highlight! We loved being able to feed the horses, chickens, llama, sheep and guinea pigs that call this place home. This property of course wouldn't be the same without the delightful family that run it; Deb, Brian, Mia and Maddy the dog who who make you feel so welcome. We had a bit too much fun playing with Maddy, she's like the dog we never had :)

There's some great eateries nearby e.g. Mushroom Cafe (insanely good pies) and Lady Marmalade (the lemon meringue cake is to die for). Newys Vege Patch is the spot to pick up some local fruit, vege and other supplies for the stay. The locally made fruit liqueurs from Balingup Fruit Winery located at the Packing Shed in town were delicious as well. Their spritzers went down too easily on a hot day!

Having been here in winter and summer, both seasons offer something special in their own way. There's the misty mornings and crackling fireplaces in winter, while in summer, perfect warm days to enjoy the outdoors and have a long lunch on the balcony surrounded by nature. Loved both, will be back!

We stayed in Blythe Cottage and was the 1st time coming to stay at Balingup Heights. Apon arrival we were greated by Deb instructing us of the property and cottages. We then went to our cottage and as soon as you walk in the door it feels so homely and was spotlessly clean. Turn around after viewing this beautiful cottage to a window that looks over the best view over the town of Balingup. Our stay here we felt like we were on top of the world as we were up so high. The weather was wet and cold but that made the views more spectacular and we were kept toasty warm by the tile fire in our room.
We visited Bridgetown and looked through their gorgeous little shops. Had a beautiful lunch at The Cidery. Visited the mine at Greenbushes and had a great meal at the Shamrock Hotel. We will definitely return to this little piece of paradise which we left feeling totally relaxed.

We thoroughly enjoyed our first stay at Misty View and the second visit was just as good. This time we had the 3 day break with the $50.00 Cidery Voucher and the Breakfast Hamper which was amazing! The 3 day stay package is very good value.

The cottage is clean, in good condition and nice and warm as it has reverse cycle aircon and a wood burning stove with wood, kindling, and firelighters all included. We did not need the electric blanket.

One day we stayed in all the time in the warm and read books (there is a good selection of holiday reading provided), and another day we went to Nannup, Bridgetown for lunch, and explored Balingup itself. You can also ramble round Balingup Heights to your hearts content if you want to.

The hosts are very friendly and helpful. and we will certainly be visiting again when we can. All in all it is a great place to go to relax and de-stress - there is no wifi thank goodness!

Yes, Balingup has a cafes and nearby Donnybrook a very good supermarket with everything you could want. There's also a pub/tavern down the road from the cottages. If you arrive late you can ask the owner to leave you a breakfast basket - ours was lovely. I hope that helps!

Hi, The best option would be Hepton Hill and Gum Nut Cottages. These are both on the same side of our hill and only about 80mt from each other. Full details can be found here on our website, under the Cottages tab. So you have your own privacy in each cottage but it's only a small stroll between. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have nay further questions. Kind regards - Deb & Brian
