Have just spent four nights here in the Eyam apartment.
This was our first visit to the Peak District and this placed us close to Buxton (10-15 mins) and right in the countryside. I had forgotten how narrow country lanes could be but thankfully the roads were quiet. The weather was on the whole nice, which I suspect makes a big difference here, but we had a great five-mile circular walk from there that took us past The Anglers Rest pub (worth checking out as we had a couple of great meals there) as well as walks near Buxton and Mam Tor.
The accommodation was lovely and clean and a good base for us, our dog and our grown up children who came over from Manchester. We were lucky and found the electric meter primed, but it barely moved and cost us only £1. A reflection of eating out and the nice weather.
Check-in was very simple, the key was in the door of the apartment. Hand sanitisers are by every entrance but the place is properly isolated anyway.
The Hall is old and a little jaded on the outside but inside the apartment everything you wanted to be new was new.
It is good self catering accommodation and difficult to fault.
Would certainly come here again.

Hargate Hall is a magical place for a wedding that keeps delivering.
We had a five day booking of the Hall for a mid-week wedding that allowed our national and international guests to gather on the Monday, and share some time getting to know each other and explore the stunning location. We had our own bar that we could run well in to the night. Anthony was amazing - he was on hand but never intrusive. The hall stairs made a fabulous entry to an intimate ceremony and the hall rocked with the wedding disco, The camp fire pit was an extra special touch were guests could relax and reflect on the day.
Delightful. Awesome, Magnificent.

Anthony is the perfect host, from the warm welcome to the support during our stay. The accommodation is just amazing, it was like sharing someone's home in a well kept country mansion. The room we had was incredible, with beautifully ornate high ceilings, well furnished with exceptionally comfortable beds. The quirky electricity meter was such good value and in fitting with the old world charm of Hargate Hall. The current owners have taken great care to preserve the authenticity of the building and its contents. There are excellent local walks (recommend Millers Dale) and restaurants in the area which are of a very high standard (Merchants Yard Tideswell) All in all -Superb.

This place is dog friendly which was the main reason we booked this place. It has a beautiful garden which was nice to explore. Its also centrally located for a number of hikes & walks which was ideal for us. There was a games rooms as well which had a number of board games which may help to wind up before bed.

On arriving, we spent about 10 minutes waiting to be checked in to the hotel. Reception was rarely manned but they left a number to call to get in touch with them. I don't think we saw the staff more than twice during the 4 days we were there. There was a lot of unfinished decoration which made the place look tacky. As for entertainment, there were a few shelves of DVDs which were available for the guests to use. Half of them didn't work though which was a let down.

For the room, we had a nice little fireplace which was nice when lit after a long day hiking. What we didn't realise though was that the electric was on a meter and you had to keep it topped up. We might have missed it but it certainly was highlighted to us when booking. I think we only used £5 for the whole weekend but we were barely in the room so hard to say how expensive it could have been. The water pressure was also a bit temperamental so it often came out in drabs. Our light didn't come on every time we turned the lights on (give it a few goes and it works). The kitchen was well well stocked with everything we needed.

Overall, this place was nice and did the job.

We stayed for 4 nights at Hargate Hall, 2 nights were exclusive use with a family gathering for NYE and the other nights were when others were staying. The owner was extremely helpful and went the extra mile to make sure all went well. The apartments are well-equipped and the shared spaces are great. There's an upstairs lounge area with loads of books and games and an attractive hall downstairs which worked well for our NYE party! The grounds are huge, great for kids and dogs alike. We would definitely recommend Hargate Hall for family gatherings or for individual apartment rentals for a break in beautiful Derbyshire.

Anthony and Julie have been amazing for us, their brilliant venue suited us down to the ground. We knew it was the perfect place as soon as we saw it on an open day - we held out through lockdowns to make sure we could still go there. Anthony had been guiding us through the process of rebooking and helping us with advice along the way versus lockdown and covid19 restrictions and made us feel so much better every time we phoned up.

We hired the whole venue and marquee for our DIY wedding over a weekend, hosting our guests in each apartment, all apartments are different size each with it's charm. The main hall was the hub where we had our wedding ceremony and live music.

The thing that attracted us has been that Hargate Hall is family run and super accommodating. Each time we'd phoned to ask if that or this is OK Anthony's been up for it!

They have decoration and the all important Bar services to offer too, the Horsebox Cocktail Bar is run by Anthony's son, one of his daughters was helping out with our caterers in the marquee

We recommend Hargate Hall for certain. Lots of our guests have been blown away saying how unique it was (as well as the best wedding they've been to.. :s). The opportunity for our guests to make themselves comfy in apartments, go for walks, drop in and out of whats going on at the celebrations is great.

We certainly we're glad we managed to enjoy a longer wedding celebration Friday night till Monday morning otherwise it would have gone in a flash!!

Go and visit Hargate Hall, have a chat to Anthony and see for yourself

We want to do it all again...

thankyouthankyouthankyou to the Knox Family for having us at your fantastic venue, we wish you all the best for the future

We stayed for 2 nights as a base for my wifes 60th birthday to be near our families who live in the Peak District. Our party consisted of 6 adults, 2 children an infant and a dog. The apartments were large, well equipped and clean. The large rooms were perfect for us all to be together without being overcrowded, plenty of seating a large dining table and a communal area stocked with games that we made use of. Loved our stay and we are considering coming back later on the year.

I wanted to review this beautiful place because not only was it clean and spacious as well as all the other compliments already paid by other guests it also has the most kind ,welcoming and generous host. I left some luggage behind and as we were quite a distance away before we realised it, Anthony offered to post it back to me. What I remmember most about this situation was the immediate offer of help. There was never any issue and he went out of his way to find a big box for my parcel and facilitated its return. If you want a stunning place and a brilliant host, this is the place. I really cannot recommend this place highly enough.

We have just spent a magical five days at a wonderful wedding at Hargate Hall. The hall made a wonderful venue for the wedding with guests from around the world staying. Anthony and his family went out of their way to make everything work like clockwork. We stayed in the Eyam apartment (I have left a separate review on the apartment page). The venue is beautiful, spacious and comfortable with so many special touches. The bar area in the entrance hall, fire pit in the large garden. Comfortable and well kitted apartments. We had a fabulous time and would recommend Hargate Hall as a venue and a holiday stay. We would love to return.

Everything about Hargate Hall made it the perfect choice for my friend's wedding. It's a stunning building in a beautiful location - grand but not ostentatious. The rooms are clean, comfortable, nicely furnished and well-equipped. The owner, Anthony, is so helpful and friendly, never intrusive but always working hard in the background to ensure everything runs smoothly. We had such a fun, relaxing few days - and the lovely team of cleaning staff put the icing on the cake!
