The resort is 1st class. The owners are totally hands on. They helped design it. They run it. They are there participating in the day to day operation. We had a great room with a fabulous view. The food was great. We celebrated an early Valentines Day weekend there. They helped

Our second visit to Fire Mountain surpassed the first!! The addition of the Fire and Water Restaurant made this absolutely beautiful place the total package. Rooms are beautifully decorated and common areas are quiet and restful. The meals are creative and wonderfully presented.

Dear Ken and Gray, Thank you for this great review. It was such a pleasure to have you back again and to see and experience the additions and changes we have made since your last visit. We are so glad you enjoyed your meals at Fire + Water. I hope that you try that watermelon gazpacho recipe. Let me know how it turned out. Have a great summer and Gray we hope to see you and Ken, maybe in the fall for some of your incredible photography. Sincerely, Mathew

My husband and I stayed at Fire Mountain for three nights as a little "get-away", to hike some of the amazing local trails, and explore Highlands, NC. Fire Mountain sits high, with stunning vies of the mountains all around. The grounds were huge, with plenty of places to walk,

This was our first trip to Fire Mountain Inn and it did not disappoint. The breathtaking views, the wonderful accommodations and the hospitality are all the reasons to visit the inn. We stayed in the Red Cedar cabin and it was perfect for a romantic and relaxing weekend.

I have never stayed in any Inn that piped music into all the common areas - it could even be heard from our bedroom. The website/brochure boasts "We are proud to say we have no televisions, radios, in room phones, clocks, alarms, internet or fax service, data ports, newspapers

We are sorry that you could not find the peace and serenity we provide and that our guests have experienced and have written about the past 22 years. Fire Mountain is located on hundreds of acres with eight structures that include an Inn with rooms, suites, and treehouses, 5 cabins, a full-service restaurant, a commercial kitchen, Guest Services and Reception office. Within all the structures at Fire Mountain only two common areas are enhanced by low level music. The music that is played reflects the mood and environment of our peaceful hideaway which include the sounds of nature, and soothing Native American flute music by famed flautist R Carlos Nakai. We find it strange that you and Lisa could not experience peace and quiet on hundreds of secluded acres. Your request for the music to be turned down was honored in the restaurant by me personally. Upon your departure maintenance did go check the other common area to see if the music low volume was too loud only to find that the speakers were damaged because the connecting wires had been yanked out of the speakers. We are a bit puzzled. If the speakers had been disabled by someone how could the music be too loud? In our reservation policy, on our website and all supporting information provided after making your reservation and during the check in process it clearly states “Tariffs for guests of the Inn and Treehouses include breakfast served at 9:30 a.m. in the dining area of the Inn with coffee and tea available at 8:30 a.m.” This information is provided to you prior to making your reservation and prior to your arrival so you can make an informed choice on what accommodation works best for your stay. Our Cabins offer full kitchens with coffee makers and would be the most private and quiet of the accommodations and you could have had coffee at your leisure. You chose to stay in the inn which is a multi-use building where sound transmission is impossible to alleviate. We answer the phones seven days a week from 9am – 6pm EST. A simple phone call to us would have ensured you were getting the amenities you desired. Our head of reservations took your reservation by phone, in-person. You had an opportunity then also to enquire about your desired level of peace and quiet. As our pervious guests have attested Fire Mountain is a peaceful and secluded mountaintop hide-a-way. We are dismayed that you were not able to experience and enjoy the same peace and serenity that bring so many of our guests back over and over. Sincerely, Mathew

what is the elevation at the Fire Mountain Inn
I found the coordinates for the top of the hill where the cabins and lodge are located and checked on Google's elevation database. The elevation is 3695 ft. or 1126.3 meters.

Hello, I am curious as to which rooms are dog friendly? Thanks!
It is my understanding that only the cabins are dog friendly but check with the innkeepers to be sure.
