Lower Dover is my favourite hostel ever! If you can even call it a hostel? They have one cabin with 6 beds (bunk beds) in whcih is a great option for backpackers or budget travellers. The other private cabins looked great too but we were on a tight budget so couldnt afford them. The lady that runs Lower Dover is...

This place is beautiful, so many animals just going about their day. Hostel is very clean, bathroom is inside hostel room. Mosquito nets for each bed. Beautiful grounds. Very hospitable owners and dogs trained to help you along the trails if you get lost!

We had a wonderful stay at Lower Dover! The setting is great with the lodge surrounded by forest and Mayan ruins. Waking up to a rooster and the surrounding birds was great as well as the evenings with an amazing sky of stars and a lawn of fireflies. The staff was fantastic and Maddy was very helpful with organizing tours...

My experience from Lower Dover exceeded all my expectations. Even from the beginning I was sent detailed instructions on how to get there, which included me meeting the charming Mr Small in the town who rings the lodge for a pick up. This is always appreciated when travelling alone. Upon arrival everything I needed to know was explained (and I...

We absolutely loved our stay here and really wish we could have stayed longer. The grounds are beautiful with multiple gardens, plants and trees of all kinds, a river running through it to play in, and even their own ruins. We loved hiking around exploring. They even make hibiscus wine right there. The food was delicious and was very nice...

Traveling in a group of 3, 50+ women. I find more beauty everytime I visit. A great feeling of being at one with the earth.. Madeline, Bill, Justin- always friendly and trying to suggest, work out any problems. The food is always fabulous and Madeline does a lot working with special diet requests. Setting is awesome. As always a 10+....

Great experience can't say enough about lower dove field station. The host was great, the setting was magical and the food was terrific. Close to tons of activities in the Cayo. I'm coming back again for sure. The best of my many hostel/hotel experiences in Belize.

This was a weird experience.. It had some upsides and some downsides, so I figured an average rating is about fair. When we booked, we got carried away by the ratings, the nice pictures etc.. so we didn't really check on the location. We were surprised to see, that it was pretty far from San Ignacio. That was our fault,...

This place was all I was hoping for and more. The property is simply gorgeous. So many beautiful plants and tons of farm animals. The meals are home cooked and healthy. The hibiscus wine is delicious and as far as I could tell, no hangovers! Maddy is a fountain of useful knowledge and a great hostess and life motivator. I...

If you're looking for glitz and glamour, you can stop reading. However, if you're looking for a fun authentic experience with great home cooked food, handmade wine, and a great host(s)(Maddy and the dogs, haha), then this is the place for you!

Wow. Very cool. So happy to have heard from Kristina. Truely made me smile to read her posting since Kristina didn't seem like the type to be chatting up on socical media (seemed like a private person - kept a low profile). Cheers Kristina. Until we meet again and thanks for the positive vibes.....the dogs say farewell too!
