Set a mile high on Fie Mountain, Cataloochee Ranch offers spectacular views of the Smoky Mountains. We're known for horseback riding for novice to expert riders, along trails of uncommon beauty. Take ambitious hikes or leisurely walks on our 800-acre mountaintop, fish in our trout pond, enjoy a wagon ride, or swim in our heated outdoor pool. We're adjacent to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which has 500,000 acres to explore. Weekend evenings during spring, summer, and autumn at the Ranch are filled with cookouts, music, storytelling, and other entertainments with a mountain flair. Winter brings skiing and snowboarding at nearby Cataloochee ski area, less than a mile away. Lodging choices include six comfortable rooms in the main Lodge, 12 cabins that sleep from two to eight people, and six rooms in the Silverbell Lodge for larger gatherings. Breakfast is included in the daily rate, and a dinner package is available. Some of our cabins are pet-friendly.

We stayed over New Year's weekend. We enjoyed their breakfasts. Our room was small but cozy with 2 bedrooms and a fireplace. The room was drafty and the provided heaters didn't quite warm the place up fully but we enjoyed it. A hike around the property was great after a day

Besides the terrible mattress, dirty room, and broken furniture, the staff leaves a lot to be desired. I am leaving your resort just as frustrated as I arrived! Upon check out I saw employees eating breakfast including the woman checking me out crunching on bacon. When I asked

Response from penny058, Guest Relations Manager at The Cataloochee Ranch

Dear George, Thank you for your honest comments. I’m truly sorry to hear your recent experience did not live up to your past visit to the Ranch. You had mentioned in your 2016 TripAdvisor review that you enjoyed lunch here and that the Ranch was a great venue for your meeting because the views were fantastic and very inspirational. We obviously missed the mark this time and I’d like to hear more about what happened so that I may address the issue personally. Could you reach out to me at (828)926-1401? Thank you very much. We were honored to host your group and wanted to make sure your time here was exceptional. Sincerely, Alex Aumen General Manager

If we could give Kim and the Cataloochee Ranch horseback riding more than 5 stars, we would. The trail was fantastic, and our horses were incredible. Such a great time, and stunning views along the way. Kim as a wrangler was the best. We 100% plan on visiting again and going on

There was WiFi in the goldfinch room, so I can’t imagine why snowbird wouldn’t have it. You can always call the manager, David.

When we were there in July and the entire staff was courteous and helpful. We even received a letter afterwards thanking us and telling how much they enjoyed having our family there. I understand they had some management problems for a short period of time and now have a new General Manager. He seems to be doing a really good job. Hope this helps you.

We love animals, but unfortunately we cannot accommodate animals in our units. Animals on the grounds, hiking, biking, etc, are welcome.

My understanding is that as long as they aren't full re guests they welcome non-guests. I don't think there are special nights. I would call Cataloochee and tell them when you want to come and see if they can accommodate. I suspect weeknights are better than weekends. It is a wonderful place.
