Detailed Reviews
Great simple camping with the best view of the surf.
On a bit of slope that you might not like.
Better gents showers this year. One of the ladies was out of action while we were there.
Restricted numbers due to COVID so no queues for showers, toilets, dish washing.
You can order local eggs and milk from reception. Phone charging and freezer block freezing at reception (now there is a new freezer).
Good Sri Laken food from wagon at entrance. Another food wagon in next campsite. Shop with good supplies at Ruda.
See you next year.

A simply stunning campsite and one that we visit every year. It's free pitching, so you just turn up and pitch where you like. The views overlook Croyde Bay and there is a short walk to the local shops. They have a no dogs policy here so you should be aware of this before you book. Relatively quiet after 11pm.

I am torn as to whether to write this review.
This place is a golden nugget that should be kept secret. Only the very few discover it, yet it's too selfish if not shared.
We have gone to Freshwells for 15 consecutive years. The felicities have improved year on year.
The essence of the place has remained the same. Spectacular views overlooking Croyde Bay. Incredibly friendly staff. There is plenty of space for children to play.
There is terrific food on the parameters, from Srilankan to burgers. If you are lucky enough to be around on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, you will be next to the joys of Croyde market with its arts and crafts, falafel wraps, Mexican foods.
Above all, Freshwells has a full view of the surf and the beach and is a beautiful place that is second to none for families, surfers and all comers.

This was our first ever camping trip and we were simply blown away by this campsite! We hired one of the bell tents for our family which provided a very clean and comfortable place to stay. The campsite had a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It was spacious and had the most beautiful views. The facilities were clean and well looked after and the staff were friendly. The proximity to the beach was ideal and there were plenty of amazing places to eat and drink within walking distance. This campsite has set the bar very high and I doubt we will find a campsite that beats it! Thank you Freshwell - you were simply wonderful!

Better and less expensive sites ( not necessarily in central Croyde.) make this site difficult to give any more of a recommendation. Music from adjacent campervan went on until 12.15 in morning without being challenged. Public toilet doubles for shaving and brushing teeth. Something I did whilst another guest vommitted in toilet. Showers have nowhere to hang clothes.

We love Freshwell Camping and all the crew!! Such an epic spot to camp overlooking Croyde bay, with fantastic facilities and plenty of space. Food on site with great options close by too. Surfing Croyde Bay surf school is only a short walk and the famous Biffens kitchen is next door.

Just returned home from Freshwell having had the most lovely weekend with a group of friends, we are a group of 14 teenagers so this is the perfect spot for us! Only a two minute walk to the beach and with great facilities we were so happy with the campsite! Will definitely be coming again and would 100% recommend thank you to Cathy and the lovely staff for having us :)

I've stayed in most Croyde campsites and this has got to be the best. Great view of Croyde beach (with an associated gradient..), great condition toilets and showers that are cleaned super regularly, friendly and very helpful staff and two food trucks.

My daughter and I spent 2 nights with friends at Freshwell. What a beautiful place! We overlooked the sea - it was very peaceful and relaxing. Just what I needed from what can be a very hectic life back in the city! My daughter loved the beach, which is a short walk away. There are also loads of great places to eat both in Croyde and nearby Braunton. It was a lovely break and I would highly recommend.

Our first family camping trip with teenagers and we all loved it. Amazing views of Croyde bay and a lovely friendly vibe at Freshwell. Staff were all lovely and very helpful. Clean hot showers, clean toilets and kept that way by the staff. Plenty of food vans nearby, walking distance to the beach, wet suit and board hire on site. You pick your own pitch and we had plenty of space around us. Can’t fault anything and we will be back soon!
