Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We called in for a family meal. I was appalled at how dirty it is. The chef needs to wash her overalls and not serve food looking like that. It was disgusting. The food was sub standard, Would definitely not recommend.

I had the ‘snaith sizzler’ absolutely amazing!! And my husband had the pulled pork burger on the specials board. Good selection on the menu and large servings. Great service and lovely staff. Can’t wait to go back.

My brother and I stayed here 1 night whilst walking the Trans Pennine trail. We are so glad we did: friendly atmosphere; lovely staff; clean & beautiful rooms and great food. Particularly enjoyed the locally brewed ale they serve. Special mention to the manager for looking after us so well.

Stopped for lunch. Dog friendly which is great. No IPAs which is a shame and a missed trick. The food was tasty and brought out swiftly. The COVID etiquette was mostly good but there weren't masks for servers and plates were taken directly from us without allowing us time to push them aside. The toilets were really clean and pleasant and the staff friendly enough but not compared to what we are used to. I would visit again and order the pizza, I would stop by for a drink, but I would want to see more evidence of staff enforcing social distancing/ masking.

We stayed here early 2018 and had a lovely experience hence our return. I think it may be different Owners as the cleaning standard was poor in the room. We stayed 2 nights - left about 11 and upon return at 19.30 in evening the bed hadn't been done, no clean towels, no replacement of tea coffee etc. We went downstairs to bar to advise and the barman was most apologetic and went round the corner I guess to speak to the owners - barman returned and said it would be sorted. We went out for another 2.5 hours and upon return it had been done. We skipped breakfast 2nd morning as the previous day we didn't enjoy and went to the next town and had a breakfast there. Don't know if they were short staffed or the usual staff not working that weekend but very unlikely we will return.

We were a party of 8, booked in for lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant was pretty quiet, so we were a little surprised to find the service rather slow. However, no complaints about the food when it arrived, and we weren't in any particular rush. The menu doesn't pretend to offer anything out of the ordinary, it's just good pub grub served in very pleasant surroundings. Do check out the village itself- it's absolutely charming. The High Street has a wonderful mix of traditional village stores, a beautiful church (currently having work done) and some pretty properties. We had a lovely afternoon.

Really enjoyed our visit. Comfortable and tasteful place and the hot beef sandwiches were excellent. Meat cooked perfectly and plenty of it. Friendly staff. Will definitely recommend and will return very soon.

Stayed for two nights in May 2019. Overall it was a disappointing stay. The room wasn’t cleaned after the first night so no clean towels provided or offered and no extra coffee sachets etc. We were told at check in that breakfast on sat was 7-9, this was in fact the week day time so our setting the alarm to get up early wasn’t necessary. We also didn’t realise on the first night that they stopped serving food at 8.30pm, we weren’t told at check in (most places are 9pm). Upon going downstairs to the bar at 8.32 we were told the kitchen was closed. I appreciate we were a couple of minutes late (unbeknown to us) but they didn’t offer anything, just a flat no. Snaith has very few places to eat so we weren’t happy. If we hadn’t been asked to pay in full at check in we would have cancelled the second night and gone elsewhere.
