Stopped off here after a wonderful day near Bedford on the river - very welcoming, accommodating and thankfully able to fit us in - food was delicious, great quality, large portions and perfect pub menu. Staff were attentive, wearing protective masks and plenty of space to feel comfortable inside and out. Highly recommend.

We arrived here with high expectations of this establishment, as we had visited several times in the past and the food and service have generally been top notch.
Visit was for my daughter's birthday, and we ordered some bread and flavoured butter and salmon and dill croquettes to start . This was all delicious and appetising
we were really looking forward to our mains!
My wife and daughter were very pleased with their Black &Blue burger and Hunters Chicken respectively, each dish was prepared on point. Unfortunately my dining experience was not so great. I had ordered a steak and suet pudding with vegetables , and what I received was a Steak Pie which was so overcooked it was rock hard and
impossible to eat. I immediately sent the meal back, but the replacement meal was no better, and I ended up having to have an alternative dish which arrived while my wife and daughter were nearly finished eating.
I have no problem with the service , and everyone was polite and professional about my complaint . The cost of the offending food was deducted from the bill.
I always feel it takes the edge off a dining experience if I have to complain, but when a restaurant with such a good reputation let's it's customers down with a schoolboy error such as this , then it is only fair to make it known!

Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry to hear about your experience regarding your pie as this is definitely not what we would expect! I'm glad you enjoyed the rest of your meal and so did your wife and daughter. We hope to see you back again soon to show that this was a one off!

Me and my partner stayed overnight in the accommodation, it definitely wasn't worth the £99 a night that the room is listed as costing on the website, fortunately a deal made it £67 a night. The room itself was very lovely and we settled in quickly and easily. The staff were really nice and very helpful too!

I wasn't impressed with the bathroom, the tap had no hot water, the shower cable was grimy and the extractor fan was caked in dust and dirt. There were also two cracked floor tiles which caught me off guard a couple of times. But generally the bathroom was clean enough to use, just not the standard I would expect for a room that's supposed to be £99 a night.

The plug socket for the TV was also faulty and only stayed plugged in when the bracket for the TV was holding it in place which is a very worrying health and safety issue. I planned to tell staff about this upon checking out but it wasn't clear where to go to hand keys in and formally check out. Fortunately I found a member of staff who was very nice and was able to take our keys.

The experience was good and I would definitely recommend to a friend if they were in the area and looking for somewhere reliable to stay as we had guaranteed parking and were able to arrange food very easily. But definitely not worth £99 a night!

I think the tone was set by finding some drugs left in the room. We were moved to another room (which turns out to be the superior room I had actually booked and paid for) meant we had more room. And no drugs.

The food was terrible- just the worst full English breakfast I have ever had. Asking twice for a fresh set of towels (and on the second attempt being met with the response "when did you want them?"- er, the first time I asked, please), very slow service for the one evening meal we had, staff who were too few in number and without any basic customer-service focus, untidy, unkempt, appalling value for money (I went on to stay in a city centre hotel in St. Ives, Cambs immediately afterwards for virtually the same money and the difference was embarrassing), the list could go on. Avoid.

Bad experience from a restaurant that we have frequently visited since we moved to the village last year.

Booked a table in their outdoor dining area, but being aware of the incoming poor weather i emailed them to ask if the tables were covered so my food wouldn’t get wet etc. Over 24hrs later i get a vague and standardised reply to say that we wouldn’t get wet as it was covered searing but may need a coat or blanket as can get chilly.

We turn up and are shown to a table that is pretty much right on the edge of the gazebo so 2 of our party were getting wet from the gazebo run off and the wind was blowing the rain onto the table and other diners. We asked if there was a chance of being moved, to be told it wasn’t possible due to other bookings (fair enough) but it was clear that the vague email i received was because they were well aware that we were going to be positioned in an area that was clearly going to get rained on; but didn’t say anything for fear of losing the booking. I would’ve appreciated the honesty rather than ruin our day!

We ended up ordering food to take away instead. This came in ok time, but once we got it home we were missing a side salad, the centre of the calzone was cold (so had to microwave it to reheat), the sweet potato fries were undercooked in the inside and the burgers just looked slapped together.

All in all, it felt a wasted £100 as could have got a better takeaway for less money elsewhere and not got cold and wet in the process. Unfortunately this poor showing has lost them a repeat customer.

I have lived in Houghton Conquest for 22 years and the K&C is a frustrating local for an ale drinker. For the past 10 years and 4 owners there has been a poor choice of real ale and a lack of training in how to look after it.

This week my beer night is going to be at Wetherspoons in Bedford. Even including a taxi this will be cheaper, but I would happily go round the corner if they offered a decent ale choice and I didn’t have to cautiously sniff and sip it to check before the first satisfying gulp.

The village rumour is that the K&C has recently changed hands, if so please start afresh with the attitude to ale drinkers.

Hello Tom, Thank you for getting in touch! Serving a well-kept selection of real ales is true to the heart of our bar, and we always have at least two ales from Charles Wells Brewery available at any time. We stock on rotation the beers that go down well with our regular and local ale drinkers but I'm always keen to listen to guest feedback if they feel there's something missing, so feel free to pop in and let me know your preferred tipple - I'll see if we can get it in stock for you! Look forward to seeing you soon, Melissa

I booked a room and meal to celebrate my partners birthday and had the most wonderful time. The room was beautiful and the food was absolutely amazing. So good in fact we had a 5 course meal because we didn't want it to end. Georgina greeted us, took care of us and made us so welcome with a clear passion for the industry. The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast iv had the privilege of eating and couldn't believe the price was included in the room rate. If you have never visited this place its a must. Thank you for a brilliant service and making a birthday very special 😍😍😍 I will most definitely be back and recommend friends and family.

We had a great welcome from Will when we arrived for our check in. The room was ready and seemed reasonably cool considering the extreme heat outside and a fan was provided. It was nicely presented with tea and coffee making facilities, and complimentary toiletries. The shower was hot and had good pressure.

We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the service was excellent, very attentive and some good recommendations. The food was tasty, fairly pricey but typical of a good quality pub/restaurant. The menu was extensive. The large pub garden with background music was a lovely place to sit and enjoy a drink as the temperatures cooled.

Breakfast wasn’t included in the rate but you could choose food from a menu. Again it was tasty and good quality and the waitress was very friendly and attentive. However, the option of having toast, fruit and cereal would have been great!

Overall a good experience and I would return!

We feel very let down by this restaurant!!!! They had on the menu roast Sirlion which my husband ordered but when he “finally” received it after waiting an hour and a half to his shock he noticed it wasn’t Sirloin at all it was Topside. My husband being a butcher knows his meat and wasn’t impressed at all as we all know Topside is cheaper than Sirloin. We mentioned this to the waiter and all we got was “thanks for your input” heard nothing else no apology and not a word from the chef. Absolutely shocking !!!! So all in all we had to wait an hour and a half (freeing cold sitting outside because of COVID restrictions) for my husband’s Sirlion roast dinner which was actually cheap Topside and it hadn’t even been cut the right way. We also received the stuffing 5 minutes after we had finished our meal (yet still got charged for it). We won’t be returning!!!

So after having this place recommended we thought we would give it a try. It took a hour for 4 meals which doesn't matter if the food is good I don't mind waiting. But...
2 rib eyes that were tough overcooked and looked like rumps. Not medium rare
Tiger prawns that were not tiger prawns
peppercorn sauce that was 99% crushed pepper and no sauce absolutely vile
Raw grilled tomatoes
Coleslaw that had gone grey and smelt awful
Onion rings dripping in oil
Soggy chips
Burger sauce tasted like pure mustard asked for well done and it was just cooked.
Am lastly the chicken that was just average.
This from a place that has a exceptional name clearly off their game today. The manager came to sort out our issues offered a complimentary coffee that never arrived. And looking at the recipet my partner was charged £4 for a dash of coke on top of the price of a double.
All in all a terrible experience I have never left food on my plate or given a review anything like this. My partner used to be a chef. And this food was worse than a motorway diner. The manager tried to help but even with the complaint in and coffees offered the staff didn't bother.
This meal was at a cost of £130 and to be honest considering 2 meals were hardly touched the bill should have been wiped.

Yes they are, the bar you can have pets in and there's a ten pound charge for pets in the rooms I believe

Yes breakfast will be included and you will have a large selection of items to choose from. Breakfast will most likely be served in All Saint's side room, but it might be a good idea to double check when you check in.
