Good place for those who want a budget hotel with that calm and quiet environment. Friendly staff and place kept clean and well maintained. The beach is a little away from the hotel but still within the proximity to many places of interest.

From the lobby to the room I booked, everything was good. Front office people and rest of stff were very helpful and friendly. Property is very clean and the garden is very neat and eye-catching. Very clean pool. All the amenities were there in the room. Had day night there and there is nothing to regret a

Palm is a hotel with character and very large colonial style rooms. It was comfortable and generally quite clean. Rooms do not have a view to write home about. And the facilities are quite dated, basic and hotel appears to be held together by duct tape-literally.

That said we had a satisfactory stay. The beds were bit towards the hard side and bedding basic by international standards but comfortable. Air conditioning was a bit noisy and in our case, at one stage, did not work. The service, although a bit slow, was quite good. All our concerns and issues (including the faulty air conditioner) were promptly addressed to our satisfaction.

Our stay was for visiting friends and not for holiday or work. So the location suited us well. We suggest visitors check the location before selection. Hotel is neither very close to Colombo nor can it be considered a resort as there is no direct beach access.

We had breakfast one day and were very disappointed with the variety, quality and the presentation of the food for the price charged. Several small cafes and eateries may be found along Galle Road which is only a short walk away where good food is available for small fraction of the hotel price.

Trains on the coastal rail track nearby can be heard constantly. There is also a night-club in the hotel and the noise can become a nuisance. There is a large school nearby and could be busy and noisy during the school days.

Overall for accommodation, hotel could be value for money if a reasonable rate can be had through deals on the booking websites. However, we do not see this hotel as anything more than perhaps two stars and certainly not one we consider for a holiday.

Cheap

i Made my reservation for 2 night with Mr. Vishava over the phone which is great and I have agreed to pay extra for early check in and for late check out.

Upon arrival checking was smooth though no one was there to assist us with luggage.
Roshan was good enough handing the customers . (29th at 4:30-5:00am)
But the person who came out with super casual cloths (short and T-shirt), introducing him self as a hotel manager start to argue with me out of no where and interrupted to check in process.
He was asking is this my first time coming to A HOTEL , and if I’m coming from village to the city .
Such a horrible person . Suranga.
Checking to the room , telephone not working ( if you need something you need to use your personal mobile to call to the hotel )
Balcony is full of dust and use cups from previous guests.
Taps are not working and shower is leaking . There’s no engineering team or housekeeping team to assist the customers.
Poor hotel .
It’s not about the equipment it’s all about the horrible impression that we faced with suranga
I will never return to this place and I will never ever recommend this place to any one .

Super cheap place.
Speaking with level 1. Staff they have mentioned there’s no staff to work as they all left because of the hotel manager .
Location is very nice and atmosphere.
But never ever again.

Thanks to sunimal to assist us with few requests ( sorry if I mis spell your name )

Poor management

First of all, I would like to thank Supun (The Manager) for arranging everything perfectly. everything was on time. the staff there was very friendly and helpful.

The Bartender and the waiter who was doing my party was very good, they knew exactly what the guests needed and provided everything on time without me being there. they asked me what to do and what to do for the guests. I ordered Hoppers and Kottu stations, everyone who came there said the food was top class. everything was great. we had a great time there.

Thank you to the staff for the great service.

We lost a lot, around $ in the hotel.we locked our doors and windows in the morning before taking breakfast, and when we came back, our money was absent, window curtain opened, and room cleaned.obviously, it was someone of the hotel who cleaned the room.but they refused tobtake the responsibility, and moreover blamed us for losing it.how irresponsible!!
Even the food wasn't good enough.

We stayed at this hotel for 10 days, while visiting Colombo on a study trip with my students. It was our first time visiting Sri Lanka and we had a wonderful time. The staff were very friendly and helpful with everything we requested. The hotel has a new management they informed me and work on the premises was being carried out while we were there. The pool was the highlight of the stay, where we would relax after a long day working. The Mount Lavinia beach with lots of options for food/entertainment is a couple of minutes away on foot. The hotel is well designed and tastefully decorated. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a quiet stay, for families, and groups. Thank you to the staff for our stay!

As we all know it's not a brand new hotel but certainly it's reasonable now... I visited here few times and I realize the big change now with their current service standard. I also work for 5 star hotel and i honestly believe that SERVICE make big difference and a genuine SMILE is all you want to see, NOT product.

Dear Management - Amazing, you're moving to the right direction now. Your have a amazing faces at front desk with beautiful smiles on their faces. I am very to see the big smile on that Pool guy this time and he asked me "how is my shopping going on ". That's very specific and That means a lot for knowing him what I do here whole day. Isn't that amazing? :)

Very special thanks to the Housekeeping guys who cleans our room daily and F&B team. Again, big smiles :).

"Service make the big difference and simple smile is all we want"

Thanks

We stayed this hotel for our family reunion get to gather on 20th June 2015, one of our family member’s new mobile Samsung phone was stolen from her room by room boy. It was proved as the CCTV camera footage as he entered room and he didn’t turn up for his next shift. Informed Front Office and wrote to the chairman of the hotel but until now no one called us or not taken any responsible action. When we spoke to some other guests who used this hotel also said they had terrible experience and management not bother to care of the Guest. We will not recommend any one to stay this hotel due to the security and irresponsible hotel Management

I 'm not surprised at the safe situation, but we just used the safe in the office and didn't let it spoil our stay. We did change rooms and the safe's were the same in both.
