I have been traveling around Sri Lanka for 3 weeks so far and this is easily the best hostel I have come across in the country.

It's a new hostel so it has great facilities. They have thought of everything, such as usb charging ports next to the beds (which are all new!!). Rooms even have air conditioning!
Outdoor area is a great place to chill and meet people and the bathrooms are hotel standard.

The food is also high quality. Had a curry for lunch, which was delicious. The breakfast is also tasty and a generous amount!

Also it has been pretty hard finding good advice about Sri Lanka but the kiwi manager of this place is an encyclopedia of cool/interesting/off the beaten track things to do in Sri Lanka. He has spent more time here than anyone I met so far so his advice and tips are excellent.

The place is a gem!

As their name suggests everything revolves around their theme Green. We had stayed here for two days and trust us it was a pleasant stay. The Mattresses do way more justice for the price for a dorm bed. The inbuilt area on the bed to charge your phones and gadgets is very convenient. The staff are very welcoming. They have their own food menu with a chef to cater to your taste buds. In addition, you have a kitchen to cook any meal of your preference. They are planning on starting a in house movie theater. They also have a bar theme place where you can get your drinks to fell the experience of a bar!!!! The owners are pretty awesome !!!

PS Get catlyn a cake when you folks hop by at evergreen,

The staff of evergreen makes this a very welcoming hostel. The hostel itself is clean and the common area is spacious and feels like home. It's a 10 min walk to the beach.

I could not recommended this place highly enough! The hostel is quite new so the rooms are nice and very clean. The food is good, it's a five minute walk to the beach, but most of all - the customer service is above and beyond. They can also help organise tours for other parts of Sri Lanka. You definitely want to stay here in Colombo!

Evergreen Hostel was our home for 4 weeks in Sri Lanka in 2015/2016. Situated between Mount Lavinia and Dehiwala, it is one of the most convenient places to stay in Colombo.

Located with in walking distance to the Mount Lavinia beach and its surrounding restaurants, easy commute to other locations in Colombo city kept us entertained during the stay. The hotel was clean and modern. Staff was amazingly friendly and was there to look after our every need. We still talk about delicious food cooked by Chef Nimal, specially the fish curry!

This is a well kept establishment, managed by Mark Fernando who was like a friend to us more than the hostel manager. I would recommend Evergreen to anyone who is looking for a place to stay in Colombo.

I flew into Colombo on a fairly exhausting flight, not having the greatest of travel days I arrived at Evergreen Colombo not in the greatest of moods. Thankfully I was met with tea and coffee (I opted for coffee of course) by a fellow kiwi called Andy on the desk who was so welcoming that it went a long way to improving my mood, we chatted for a long time and all the staff were super helpful. They helped me to map out some of my travel plans and organize transport around.

I have stayed in some pretty rough hostels in Colombo as this was my third trip here but I have to rate this as the best hostel I've stayed in there so far. The breakfast was good, the staff were amazing, oh and the beds were actually very comfortable! Its a short walk to Mt. Lavninia beach too were you actually have some very decent restaurants and bars to check out.

Talking with the owners it seems like this is a really new hostel, but I cannot recommend the place enough. For anyone spending a day or 2 in Colombo try this place out, you wont be disappointed.

Just 4 minute walk to the Mt.Lavinia beach strip. This place provides good B&B. And close to the main Galle road, with lot of groceries & supermarkets and fast food outlets are nearby. You can catch a bus to Galle as the main road is just a few meters away....

Having booked a tuk tuk rental, we were recommended this lovely hostel.
Arriving first, we were given drinks and had a great conversation with the manager, JD. Genuinely interested in what we were doing, it was nice to get guidance from someone living in the area.

The rooms are clean and tidy, with simple decoration. Ours had air conditioning and a private bathroom. Breakfast was included and it was lovely (scrambled eggs and toast, fruit and milk tea)!

The hostel has a few gorgeous, very friendly cats.

Everyone was lovely and friendly :)
Highly recommend!

Lived here for 10 months and made some amazing friends. Service is great with super friendly people. Rooms are clean and tidy with very comfy mattress.
What makes it even awesome are the movie nights and some unforgettable parties in the hostel. Won't forget those pancakes.....thanks to Fonseka.
Thanks for bearing with us JD (if you know what I mean) ;)

If you are planning on taking public transport, you can take the 187 bus from the airport to the Colombo fort station/Pettah. Then from there you change the bus and take the 100 or 101 down to Mount Lavinia/Galkissa. If you want to take taxi it can be anywhere from $17USD to $25USD. Uber is also available throughout Colombo.
