This is the absolute worst hotel we have ever stayed in in Mexico. Our room had three single beds and very thin blankets and old hard pillows. There was no heater. Don't even try to ask for additional blankets because they will tell you that they are behind a locked door that they are not allowed to open. The door...

I was skeptical because the prices of the rooms were low, but upon checking in I was very pleased with the beautiful, old, colonial atmosphere of the hotel and the pleasant rooms. And it is right on Patzcuaro's wonderful central plaza where there are restaurants, bars and tourist-friendly shops on all sides. The only complaint I had was that wi-fi...

We didn't have a reservation but arrived and asked to look at a room as this hotel was located on the main plaza in the historical district. We were shown a room back aways from the front so less noisy and it was quite large and well-lighted with big windows. We found the room clean and service good. We didn't...

I couldn't have asked for a better hotel on my first trip to magical colonial city of Patzcuaro. Everything in this amazing city has a facade on the exterior and hidden, rich interior. Posada San Rafael is no different. A gate allows your car to park behind the hotel walls. The rooms are clean, charming and rustic. The hotel is...

A Mexican friend recommended this hotel, similar to others in this lovely colonial town. What is great here are the extra windows in the rooms in the back section, making for welcome fresh air circulation and a beautiful sunrise view of the town.

Right on the main square, close to coffe shops and other dining choices. Beautifully furnished rooms, fairly comfortable beds, hot water, cable TV, and elegant dining room with good food priced reasonably. WIFI only in the reception and sitting room. $420 pesos including tax.

“If it is weekend, probably want to be further from front as the square stays pretty noisy until after 10 pm”

“The only trade off is that there is no wi-fi in the rooms. You'll have to use it in the lobby.”

“Most very old colonial hotels here are lovely, but the windows open only onto the courtyard. The back section, second floor, of this Posada has rooms with cross-ventilation. They are away from the main plaza and therefore very quiet, except for the roosters.”
