The Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort & Spa 5* is an astonishing complex, situated on the Mayan Riviera, just 20 miles from Playa del Carmen, and 1 hour from the airport at Cancun. Is in a class of its own due to its spectacular design. It brings to mind the ancient Mayan buildings; but at the same time, a moder, minimalist style which blends perfectly with the luxurious natural vegetation in the gardens.

Given the current situation we're in with Covid, we didn't know what to expect when arriving. Our bell-hop Juan was so friendly, quick and very helpful the entire week we were there. Mariano at the front desk also helped us all week by answering our questions and getting us all the information we needed. Doris is the best masseuse, I saw her 3 times while there and it was amazing. Zuri was also very helpful at the spa, escorting us through the pools and saunas before our treatments. The Spa experience was my favorite thing! Luis, the concierge, was helpful managing our schedule and getting us our dinner reservations and too and from our activities. Christian and Joel were really helpful during our scuba diving experience. Joel was a great underwater guide and we felt very safe. We also took a local bus to see the ruins at Tulum which was a good option if you aren't wanting the day long tour. I would recommend doing the snorkeling, animal refuge and cenotes tour, the highlight being the animals and swimming in the cenotes (caves). The snorkeling was pretty touristy but we saw a lot of turtles. The food at the resort was decent. Always fresh fruit out, and a couple of cook-to-order options along with the large buffet. The beach area is smaller, a cove, which was beautiful but I could see being crowded if more people were there. The best part of this was the staff, they all went above and beyond and made us feel so welcome and cared for!

We have spent one week at this hotel. First, what was impressive: the room size and cleanliness, also we felt very welcoming at this hotel since very first day, all staff was amazing and helpful, special thanks for concierge team at Muuyal and lobby bar team. The food was great and delicious, except at a la carte restaurants, the only bad experience we had, was France and Japanese restaurants, if you are already in Mexico, you do not expect that other international cuisine will surprise you, it's best to enjoy the excellent Mexican cuisine, what we were doing. The most memorable experience with this hotel- the fishing tour, we had booked from the diving center the half day tour and we had such a great time and fishing, we caught giant sailfish and barracuda. We highly recommend this hotel.

We made our reservations at this hotel about six months ago. and took the opportunity probably three times or four times via text or emails to the property that we would like to be upgraded to oceanview rooms. And we're constantly told it was based on availability at check-in. When we got here we were told by the front desk that the entire Mayan side all of the the resort are closes. AND that the front two buildings on the other side (Muuyal and Yun Kaax) are dedicated to members only. So essentially there was never a chance for us to get an ocean view room and for people that vacation every year in Mexico and the Caribbean and always get and PAY for an ocean view room this was very disappointing. I asked to speak with a supervisor and advised him that at least let people know so they can make an educated decision based on the information that's available. Because had we known this we would've gone to one of the many many many many many other resorts on the Mexican Riviera where we could've gotten an ocean view room. Probably for less money. Sadly for this reason and even though we are on only our second day here, my rating will be poor. Give your customers the information they need and let us make our own decisions!

The resort staff was wonderful and the resort was very quiet accept for a little entertainment during the day at the main pool that was open. They were only back at running at 7% capacity when we checked in after a 7 month shut down so it was very strange to be at such huge resort with less people. Half of the resort was closed for remodel and the lazy river was out of operation. The PROs were that it was quiet because there wasn't many people, you never had to worry about getting a chair or seat to eat, you got to eat at 5 of the restaurants vs the 3 offered usually per week because of the limited staff and not running the huge buffet at night. The CONs: only food for breakfast was main buffet upstairs at front of resort. During the day the only food was that same main buffet and beach hut out by the beach. For dinner the big buffet was only open 1 night we were there and the rest of the nights was great to pic the go to restaurants. It was like a ghost town so if you like action maybe wait to travel. There was only 1 show that week due to less people so the nights weren't like they would normally be at an all inclusive. Only 2 pools open because of reconstruction and 1/2 of resort being shut down. Our concierge's were great, a little pushy with trying to get us to the club for a presentation but we still declined. Overall we loved our stay and it was a much needed get away for my husband and I. The resort can't change the fact that covid hit so it isn't theirs and I am sure all other resorts are running the same. Thank you staff at Grand Sirenis for making our travel good even through covid!

Travel: We flew into Cozumel...took a shared shuttle offered at the airport to the Ferry dock. ($3/person)... took us about 20 minutes to get to the dock. Ferry service leaves every hour & it's 2 companies that offer them (Yellow & Blue...I forget the names). Blue ferry isn't as great as the Yellow b/c there is no outdoor seating. It took us only 30 minutes to get to Playa Del Carmen. From there, we found a taxi driver to take us to the resort (charged $35usd). Cab back to the ferry dock was $29. Cab to airport was only $7. The resort property itself is very appealing to the eye! I was really impressed with the natural, lush, tropical forest that surrounded the property, walkways & pools. Buildings were modern, & the grounds were overall well kept. No hotel is perfect, but what can make a difference is customer service. The service professionals that we interacted with at Sirenis went above and beyond to make sure we were heard and enjoying our stay...I can't express how much we appreciated the customer service. Juan, Ingrid, Gabo, Julio, Christian & others made it a warm experience. The pools that were open were awesome...my kids thoroughly enjoyed the pools. Being able to see the exotic animals was fun as well...we saw all they had to offer coati's, racoons, monkeys, iguanas, & some rodent thing. The hotel did NOT lack things to do....they have a lot to offer. Swimming, the beach, tennis, basketball, bike riding, pool tables, dolphins experience, spa, lazy river & more! They offered free Covid tests which was good & the results come quickly. The hydrotherapy spa was very nice as well. There were some things that I wish were done better. The breakfast buffet was not good...not terrible, but not good (kids liked it though). We wanted to order room service for breakfast, but that was non-existent for us. The dinner buffet lacked a bit too, did not like it much at all. We did the teppanyaki and brazil restaraunts...they were good. The drinks were never strong, but that is consistent at most AI's so I get it. The gym is small & the equipment is very old. Lastly, b/c of covid there were no shows and the lazy pool was closed. That was a bummer. Overall we had a really good experience and have good memories. The customer service goes a long way at Sirenis. The grounds and pools are fantastic. For the price, I'd definitely recommend this place.
