Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Recently came back from an amazing short stay at Cliveden. Everything was first class - from the room, to the spa (and our treatments were some of the best we’ve ever had), the food, drinks in the bar and grounds. The staff were very welcoming and professional. Hope to return soon.

Hotel's Favourite
For those fortunate enough to be able to spend some time here, you will never forget it. The place is steeped in history, with a specific combination of British Aristocracy and Guilded Age America. For fans of "Downton Abbey" this will remind you of being on that TV set. The level of service is exceptional, and each room has its own name - no numbers allowed - and your name will be written in beautiful calligraphy on a bespoke card on the room door. The pure gold-encrusted clock on the water tower looks like it is from a French Chateau, and the gardens were a favorite of Queen Victoria herself. There's beautiful sketches, paintings and photos throughout the Main Hall and all of the connecting hallways throughout the main house. If you have time, a stroll down to the Thames River is well worth the effort - the beautiful cottages alongside the Thames have their own famous histories, and are outstanding examples of Tudor-style architecture. While the cost may be outside the reach of many travelers (I was lucky enough to be here for four days on a business offsite), it is well worth splurging on. You will live like the Astor Family (the former owners) for the time you are there!

Fantastic country side property, full of history not far from Heathrow airport. The service was top notch, all the staff were friendly and very professional. We experienced dinner at The Asror Grill and had afternoon tea, both were great and delicious. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel! We went with our two girls, 3 and 6 and they also loved it :)

A really lovely facial at the spa - Imogen my therapist, has magic fingers! I left feeling very pampered with glowing skin. Love the water bed/couch - really relaxing. Definitely a facial to treat yourself to if you are visiting Cliveden Hotel.

We had an amazing weekend stay at Cliveden House and the only reason I give it a 4 star is because of the spa. The house itself is so so stunning and well kept and our room was outrageously luxurious and gorgeous, felt like royalty tbh! We ate our evening meal at the Astor Grill where the food was very good and the staff delightful. All the staff at the main house were extremely pleasant and helpful, special thanks to Leanne who checked us in and showed us around, giving us a short talk on the history of the place and making us feel very very welcome. Cocktails at the bar were tasty and the breakfast plentiful, all fantastic. The only down point was that our spa experience wasn’t the best, we found the staff at spa reception quite snooty and offered no warm welcome or info on what was available or where to go. While using the spa we found the pool lounge area and relaxation room to have used wet towels n robes just piled up in places most of the afternoon and tables not cleared, so all a bit messy and not the 5 star experience you would expect. Maybe it was an off day but with the price you pay, I expected more. The weather wasn’t that great when we stayed but we did manage a quick walk around the stunning grounds, maze and Japanese garden which are all beautiful and well kept. To sum it up we absolutely adored the main house and grounds but the spa did let it down for us which was a shame. I would a million percent love to stay again at Cliveden for all the other positives and we didn’t let it spoil our break.

Simply delightful afternoon tea. Beautiful and quintessentially Engligh setting with stunning views. The staff were attentive and charming, the food was yummy, with extra sandwiches offered (and accepted!) Highly recommend a walk around the lovely grounds too. 10/10!

Lovely afternoon tea experience where service was fantastic but quietly ‘not interrupting’ our whole experience. Staff were attentive, friendly and made us feel very special. The whole arrival and seating was professional and staff encourage us to walk around the grounds .Thank you

Cliveden House is the essence of class and I felt that I was in a period movie from the time I arrived until departure. Grounds and accommodations are certainly one thing but the staff gracefully adapts to the needs of mere mortals and knights.
