We went for a late lunch on Sunday, the food was ok the staff excellent BUT there must have been at least 10-15 dogs inside the pub. It wasn’t raining so they could have been tied up outside. Their presence spoilt our lunch experience. Wherever you sat you had a dog nearby. My

Good afternoon Cheryl, I am disappointed that you feel your experience was ruined by dogs and am deeply sorry for any issues they caused for your husband. We do clearly advertise online that we are a dog friendly pub and we are very proud to be. I do understand they are not for everyone and again can only apologize for your experience. Kind regards, Toby

I stayed on a business trip when all the other mainstream hotels were asking silly prices. My bedroom was fine - double bed, crisp white clean bed linen. The bathroom was a bit of a challenge - tiny but for one night fine. Would I go back- actually yes I would.

Good afternoon Christine, Thank you for leaving your review, I am glad you feel like you received value for money during your stay with us. As we are what is officially England's oldest inn the rooms are 'quirky' with size but we see it as part of the appeal of the building. It would be a pleasure to have you stay with us again soon. Kind regards, Toby General Manager

Gorgeous old building with heaps of character and charm. Location is superb, even if off the beaten track, which certainly adds to its charm! Food was superb on both nights we ate here while staying in the hotel. Steak cooked to perfection and very generous on portion size. Beer

On a personal note I am also pleased you got to enjoy the refreshing tastes of our beer which we work hard to maintain to the best standards as we can. We stayed here for a night and it was quiet, the room was comfortable and a good size and lacked for nothing. The staff were helpful. We would go again, especially at that price!

Can anyone tell please which is THE best room at the Inn ?
We booked a Superior Room and were in Room 5. It is not a huge room, but it is very comfortable and nicely furnished. However there is a drawback as between Room 5 and 6 there is the extractor fan from the kitchen, making it noisy during the day.
