We stayed here over a weekend for a wedding in the local area. The pub is nice; lovely setting (sitting outside with a chilled glass of wine in the evening sun was lovely!), good selection of food and drinks on the menu and an easy check in. We stayed in room 5 which didn't have a bath - and now...

We stayed here for one night, check in was swift and everything we needed to know was explained to us. When we got to our room we was very pleasantly surprised how big, clean and bright it was, the bed was comfortable, the en suite which was a bath with shower over was very clean and spacious with complimentary toiletries....

Stayed here as was going to a wedding at Capesthorne Hall - short drive away, good location. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Was concerned the road may disturb me but I slept really well. Hotel itself is noisy but once the bar closes (at 11) it is very quiet. Wifi didn't work - but I could have gone...

Stayed here twice recently for work, the pub itself is nice in public spaces with gastropub style and menu. Had same room no 5 both times - compact double but nicely done out with walk in shower. Couple of tatty edges to decor, including broken shower door handle and shower head but ok. The tea and coffee is good in...

We stayed for a couples weekend. The hotel was lovely, it had a great bar and restaurant. We didn't try the food, but it did look good. The rooms are lovely, but in ours the toilet roll holder was held together with, masking tape!!(room 9). But this was a minor issue. The staff were very friendly. You actualy check in...

Used this as a base for an evening business meeting in Alderley Edge. Check in at the bar was efficient enough, and the room itself was a pleasant surprise - spacious, clean and tidy and with a comfortable bed. Basic tea & coffee making was fine, and the bathroom had a large walk-in shower. Breakfast was very good - freshly...

As I was travelling to the area for work and didn’t intend to explore, I can’t judge the location but the Innkeeper’s Lodge seemed to me to be a pretty safe option if you find yourself in the outskirts of Manchester. The room, whilst sparsely decorated and slightly lacking in a little character, was spacious, tasteful and comfortable; the staff,...

Check in was at the bar. The barmaid was trying to check us in and serve drinks, this gave the appearance of being a little chaotic but she was welcoming. We were asked to pay for the room on arrival which I found unusual! The room was at the front of the hotel and was very large and exceptionally clean...

The Merlin [now you get the title?] is a period property with contemporary style on the outskirts of Alderley Edge. The room we had was spacious and could easily have accomodated a family - although thankfully we had escaped the kids this time. The en-suite shower room was very stylish in its design. The bed was comfortable and the room...

Stayed here on two occasions recently for business trip. The rooms are as good or better than the more famous Alderley Edge hotel. Make sure you get a room that faces away from the main road, otherwise you'll hear the traffic. The restaurant is decent. Inconveniences are (i) no wifi or wired internet availability in the room. If you have...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled between Wilmslow and picturesque Alderley Edge, this elegant lodge gives you all the charm of a country hotel only 12 miles from Manchester.Dating back to the 1880s and dripping with original features and luxurious touches, it's amongst some of the most characterful accommodation in Cheshire. In fact, it was once one of the grandest private residences in wealthy Alderley Edge. Today it offers 10 comfy, modern rooms and a cosy pub and restaurant, where you can savour fresh, seasonal food in the warmth of a crackling open fire.Alderley Edge may boast the highest number of millionaires per square mile in the country, but there's much more to this pretty village than star watching. It's built upon a sandstone escarpment that overlooks the Cheshire Plain, where walkers will find many picturesque routes criss-crossing its beautiful scenery. The National Trust's Quarry Bank Mill and stylish Knutsford are also well worth a visit. ... more   less
