We found out about this amazing place whilst watching Four in a Bed during Lockdown & booked it straight away for a two night stay. The episode is ell worth watching as it really is entertaining & one of the best ones of that series..
We arrived on Friday 2pm and were greeted by the owner Ian, who showed us to the Merlin Suite. It was a great start to our weekend break, as Ian gave us a lot of advice on where to visit in the local area and which cafes, restaurants & bars were worth trying in Alderley Edge all of which are just around the corner.

All that we visited ( The Bubble Room, Gusto's, The Village Café, Alderley Edge Bar & Grill) were very clean, felt very safe & had extremely friendly staff.

The weather was very wet on Saturday but we drove to Knutsford and spent a few hours exploring & shopping. We had lunch in the courtyard café as Ian had recommended this & we were very happy with the food & service, a very unusual place with penny farthing cycles hanging from the ceiling!

We loved the unique charm of the Merlin Suite, it was spotlessly clean very quirky, which makes for an unforgettable experience. We do intend to return & stay in one of the other two suites.

We cannot praise our host Ian highly enough, his passion for the Wizard's Thatch is plain to see. We hadn't realised he had owned it & lived in it since the 70's.

We unfortunately left an item of clothing behind when we left. I rang Ian to ask if it had been found, which it had. He told us he would personally take it to the post office & send it back to us, which he did. Exceptional service indeed.

We visited here on 19th January for a wonderful evening in the Wizardry suite. Our experience was first class from start to finish - the suite was exceptional, so cosy and quirky with everything we could have needed. We paid an extra £20 for the ‘romantic break’ tariff which got us a chilled bottle of champagne (delicious!) and some fresh flowers. The host, Ian, stayed in touch throughout our stay, offering wonderful dinner recommendations all of which were a 2 minute walk from the accommodation. The bed was ridiculously large and super comfy, and we can’t wait to return as soon as humanly possible! We would 100% recommend this wonderful place - worth every single penny, especially when you book direct (I did this and it cost approximately £50 less than it would have on booking.com). If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!

We just arrived home from a three night stay at Wizards Thatch staying in the wizardry suite.
We absolutely loved the mystical magical surroundings and immersing ourself in Ian and Ali’s extensive collection of Artefacts and antiques.
If you are a lover of history and museums you will love the opportunity to explore every nook and cranny.
We loved the four poster Kerry Monster bed and I loved having my nightly bath in the closet.

There was tea, coffee, milk and hot chocolate waiting for us and toiletries in the bathroom.

Guests will love the location which is close to all the local amenities and restaurants and the edge and a number of lovely country woodland walks are a short distance away.

Our Bichon was also welcomed and it was lovely being able to take him with us.

It was a joy to have access to DVD’s, cds, books and games and after our walks and meals out in the village we loved just spending our evenings reading and entertaining ourselves with the many items left for the guests perusal.

I could not recommend more if you love something a little bit special and a little bit different.

Clean cosy comfortable

We will definitely be coming back to try out the other two suites.

Thanks Ian and Ali we had a lovely time.

Our stay at wizards thatch was perfect, an outstanding gem of place that was magical and enchanting full of memorabilia and character close to all amenities of alderley edge and surrounding beautiful walks. Plenty of great places to shop and eat yet hidden away perfectly to be private and magical, you certainly won’t be disappointed. The owner, Ian has gone to great lengths to make it a special place and is so plesant, giving great tips and usually greets you there. Carnt recommend this place enough we had a most wonderful time 😊😊😊😊😊
I’d recommend sera in the village to eat out a Lebonease resterant or the great local fish & chip shop has to be tried.

We chose Wizards Thatch as a treat during a long journey and greatly enjoyed our stay. Ian was helpful and well informed about the local area and our little suite of rooms was warm on arrival and well stocked with tea, coffee, biscuits and even gingerbread. It was all very thoughtful and made for a unique and personal service.

The beds were very clean and extremely comfortable and the water piping hot and the towels fresh and fluffy.

All in all a good mix of quirky and unusual, with luxurious and comfortable.

We had a wonderful, super relaxing stay at this charming, one of a kind place. The lovely owner met us on arrival (socially distanced of course) and gave us lots of information about the surrounding area.

Before arrival we were a little hesitant about whether it might be a little small and maybe dusty with all the artefacts and memorabilia but it really isn’t! This is an absolute credit to the housekeepers who do an utterly amazing job - I’m not sure how but they do!

We loved looking at everything in the cottage and reading the little messages from previous guests in the tiny glass bottles.

The HUGE four poster bed is fab and comfortable as are the bathroom and toilet tucked away in what looks like cupboards but are actually quite roomy.

We stayed in The Wizardry with our two little Boston Terriers who loved it too! Due to the design of the lovely thatch cottage we didn’t have direct access to outside for the dogs but there was a small area next to it.

Alderley Edge has everything you could want from fancy bars and restaurants to a good old traditional pub to amazing walks with countryside views.

If you are looking for a very different experience, something truly unique, somewhere like nowhere else you’ve ever seen or stayed then this is the place for you! We’ll definitely be back!

Saw this on Four in a Bed and loved the look of it. And we weren’t disappointed. Tucked away behind flora and foliage, and at this time of year, fairy lights, we were delighted by our first sight. Parking is limited but we were lucky to get the spot immediately outside and our home for three nights was the Camelot. The door is on the side of the house and is entered by a passcode. We had been given very comprehensive instructions for everything, from parking to operating the heating and it was very easy to move in and feel at home immediately. You must look at the photos to see what an amazing, quirky place this is. It isn’t 5* luxury or wall to wall chic but my goodness it’s much better. Every room is crowded with ’stuff’ and it’s a joy to wander around just looking.
The living room is comfortable, warm and has the use of excellent WiFi and tv. There is a kitchen area, with microwave, tea/coffee etc and small fridge. There is no running water downstairs. Odd. But it was never a problem. Bottled water is provided and a lovely lady comes at noon each day to wash any of the plates, bowls, cups etc, restocking biscuits and anything else you need. The stairs are a challenge, I won’t lie, but definitely worth the effort. The bathroom has a good size bath and lashings of hot water and there is a shower in it’s own cupboard in the bedroom
And the bedroom, wow. The most comfortable bed (four poster) with the most amazing linen that we have ever had the pleasure of sleeping in
And please don’t be put off by there not being breakfast. A two minute walk takes you to the village and there are endless places to eat. Our go to was the Village Cafe. Brilliant

We stayed here in Camelot suite for 3 nights during the heatwave with our son and his girlfriend. What a stroke of luck as the suite stayed so cool throughout our stay despite the record breaking temperatures. The suite itself is jam packed with antiquities and memorabilia which you would think would mean it would maybe be a little dusty? Absolutely not it was completely spotless to the point that I think there must be some wizards meddling with it!!! There are some lovely eateries within very short walking distance we went to and enjoyed everything from the De Trafford Arms, The Village Cafe and Lucianos .

There is a little kitchen area with kettle and toaster and little fridge and an array of teas coffees and hot chocolate. We also had some biscuits and a Jamaican ginger cake and some milk and water left in the fridge.

There is only 1 toilet in the suite in the main bathroom with a bath so if people are used to more than that then it may be tricky sharing but there is only one toilet at home for us anyway so was no problem! There is a very tiny but functional en suite shower in the main bedroom which was definitely necessary and much appreciated with the weather!

Ian is a great host and made sure we were ok during our stay and gave us lots of hints and tips. The housekeepers are definitely using some kind of wizardry to keep the place SO clean!

I stayed with my partner in the Camelot Suite and we loved every moment. Despite so many interesting curios around the suite, it was immaculate (not a speck of dust). The rooms were warm and comfortable, beautifully decorated and every accessory was provided- fridge, toaster, fans, kettle etc. (You’ll get very comprehensive notes/guide from Ian the host when upon booking anyway).
The area is great- lots of shops/restaurants to visit and national trust properties.
It’s also worth mentioning the suite is completely self contained- we didn’t hear a peep from other visitors the entire time.
Despite travelling the world I’ve never stayed somewhere so unique, magical and special. A big fat FIVE STARS from me!

The owner is very attentive so I'm sure if you contact them in advance they would accommodate your request in their "breakfast basket". We ate at "The Village Cafe" about 150 yds away and they have gluten free options on their menu - despite it's name it's NOT a 'greasy spoon' by any stretch of the imagination - see my review for that too!!
