What a lovely find. We were visiting Alton Towers theme park and booked this 9 bedroom hotel for 2 nights. From the moment I called to book with Dave, the team at the hotel couldn’t have done more to accommodate us. They set up a room so that my family of 4 could all be in one room, served us food later than usual when we were caught up at AT and gave us a lovely friendly welcome. We had room number 6 which had everything you needed. Set in beautiful surroundings, a golf course, with its own restaurant and bar area, we really enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending to other family’s. AT is 7/8 minutes drive away so perfect to return here after a busy day or 2. We would definitely stay here again. Reasonable priced, very clean and friendly staff. Thank you Whiston Hall Hotel.

My wife had knee replacement surgery 3 weeks ago and we were looking for somewhere for a few days total rest. We chose Whiston Hall Hotel for a four night stay. I requested a ground floor room and explained why.
When we arrived we shown to our ground floor room which was decorated with 50 balloons and welcome Prosecco drink. From here on it just got better. Superb dining, the ability to just sit quietly in the main hall. The service was impeccable the owners David and Marlena so attentive nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is tastefully decorated and the views are remarkable
It doesn’t get any better

Just come back from a weekend trip to Alton towers for our son's 30th birthday and stayed at whiston hall as it was the perfect location only 10 minutes drive from the theme park. Have to say from the moment we arrived to the moment we left nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They even decorated my son's room with balloons banners and left him a birthday card and box of maltesers way more than we imagined or expected. The food was outstanding. The staff especially Marlena were so friendly and helpful and really "pushed the boat out". When we next visit Alton towers or want to stay in this area we know where we will be booking up for. Once again a massive thank you to all at whiston hall and we hope to see you in the near future

We checked in and were warmly greeted by the reception staff on arrival. As it was my father in law's 80th birthday I had emailed the hotel in advance of our visit to advise it was a celebration for us. When my father in law went into his room, he was greeted by lovely balloons, roses, chocolates and a card from the hotel. This was not expected and very well received - thank you so much again for this, it made my father in law's day!
We enjoyed a wonderful meal in the restaurant and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We enjoyed steak, beef bourguignon and desert (cheesecake) - all of these dishes were delicious and would thoroughly recommend these.
We enjoyed drinks in the bar in the comfort of the sofas and genuinely had a lovely stay at Whiston Hall.
The day and night staff were all so accommodating and understanding, we were very grateful of their kindness and hard work.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone, the staff will go above and beyond for any guest - thank you.

We checked in on a Saturday to Monday break. Was informed that food was served between 6-8pm. Bear this in mind for later....
First impressions were good until the guests in the room upstairs came back to their room and the ceiling was so thin we could hear them breathing! Creakiest floorboards and talking I'm just glad it was not a romantic couple upstairs! Was informed that food
Was woken up the next morning by upstairs moving around at 7am and then they proceeded to have a full bath each, cue us now having no hot water! Reported the issue to reception and the lovely lady with blonde hair came back to our room to report the boiler broken but I'm not convinced tbh but she couldn't apologise enough.
Spent all day Sunday at Alton Towers and was very tired. Didn't go on our last ride as we had to make sure we were back for food. Walked into the restaurant at 6.55pm to be told that they didn't serve food on a Sunday! Erm did you not think that would have been useful to know at check-in?!? In the current climate, places are either still closed or you have to book. We couldn't get in anywhere to eat at all and had to venture out into Cheadle to locate, in hope, a takeaway. Borrowed plates and cutlery (it was the least they could do really) when we got back.
Next morning, upstairs ran another bath (seriously who has full baths every morning!?!) and I jumped into the shower before the 2nd one was run lol!
So not the best place I've stayed in and had these things not happened, it would have been perfectly fine. But I don't think I'll be staying here again when I come back to the area with my boys.

Stayed for 2 nights - very charming hotel set in a stunning landscape. The staff went above and beyond and were friendly and welcoming. They were very accommodating with her request for a vegan breakfast and it was the best breakfast I've had in ages! Very comfortable bed in our spacious room with large en suite with a bath. Very good value for money and would definitely stay here again!

I was travelling with a mate and when we arrived and there was a slight mix up in rooms and we got the bridal sweet which was the cause of some amusement but the staff were excellent and moved us to a twin room and we were given a drink each on the house. Lovely touch and not something we expected. Room was ideal and had some nice touches . The breakfast was very good with proper butchers' sausage and bacon. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and the all round experience was a good one and this is somewhere we are likely to return to as repeat customers.

We had our wedding reception on 14th August and David and his team made it even more special. Nothing was too much trouble. They helped with the planning and organisation and despite having to postpone 3 times due to covid everything went without a hitch. They were super organised meaning we had q stress free day and could just enjoy ourselves.
We used the photographer recommended by David and were delighted. The food was outstanding at all points, everyone commented on it and was very reasonable in price. The rooms were very comfy and the building and grounds were beautiful. Lots of attractions nearby for scenic walks and close to lots of lovely towns.
We are planning return visits for golf with friends and definitely for our anniversary.
Thank you David, Marlena and the rest of your staff for all your care, support, service and good humour. We had the best day.
Love

I booked a hotel on behalf of my son, this was for him and his girlfriend.
He wanted to make a special effort as it was for her birthday so he paid the extra and booked the honeymoon suite.
When they arrived at the hotel they noticed there was some building work that was being done and the hotel seemed exceptionally quiet.
When they went up to their room they realised it was only a standard double and not the honeymoon suite that he had paid for.
He called to tell me and and I said he had to go to reception and explain that they had paid for the honeymoon suite and had only been given a double. I said to say that if the honeymoon suite couldn’t be provided then he should be at least offered the difference in price or a full refund so they could book something else.
I am not 100% sure what my son said to the reception desk but he ended up with a £10 discount and was told the honeymoon suite was not available due to some work being done in there.
I would like to point out that the honeymoon suite was £149 and a standard double was £119 so he should have expected at least £30.
I would also like to point out that my son is autistic and struggles with certain situations plus him and his girlfriend are only young and have only just started doing things like this so whereas most people would have kicked up a fuss they didn’t.
That is also the reason I am doing this review on his behalf.
I didn’t want to just leave a negative review, I did in fact email the hotel 3 days ago to ask why he was not given the £30 refund and also why he was not contacted prior to the visit, however the hotel have not replied hence why I am now leaving the review.
I strongly believe that they were taken advantage of because of their age, I do not believe an older couple would have been treated the same.
Simple fact, he booked and paid for the honeymoon suite which was £149 he got a £10 discount which took his total to £139 but a standard double was £119 for the same night.
They did also say the bar hardly had any drinks so it was hard to sit and have a drink in the bar so after they had been out to eat they literally sat in their room with a drink from the shop. They said that it was like the bar wasn’t open, there were no draught beers and only 3 or 4 bottles to choose from and the worker kept recommending local pubs.
By the sounds of it the hotel should not have had guests but would have been nice if the guests had been told about that.
Credit where credit is due they did say the breakfast was nice.
Feel like this hotel have really let down my son, what should have been an exciting weekend for him and his girlfriend turned into something stressful and disappointing.

Such an amazing hotel. Run by such lovely people who cater to your every need. Everyone was very welcoming, the hotel itself was all round amazing, the rooms were really good size and all kept clean. The breakfast included was very tasty and the dinner menu had lots of variety and the food was superb. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others. Such a good experience.
