The Woodcote Hotel is a privately-owned country house hotel situated in its own grounds in the small village of Hooton on the South Wirral and Cheshire border. We are open 7 days a week for Breakfast, Lunch, Afternoon Tea and Dinner. We have a beautiful walled garden and patio area with comfortable seating for you to enjoy, and it's dog friendly. Expect delicious seasonal dishes and hearty pub classics, with a focus on locally sourced fresh ingredients. Our new Head Chef Jake Parry, is a local chef, originally from Anglesey, who always enjoys a good pie. He earned an AA Rosette while working for 5 years at Pinion Bistro in Prescot. Jake has also been featured in the Waitrose Good Food Guide. Jake is committed to using fresh local produce and is excited to add a variety of flavours to our new menu to include his favourite style - chargrilling of meats and fish. Behind the bar you’ll find plenty of award-winning lager, ales and cider, a wide range of gin, wine, prosecco and our recently introduced cocktails. The Woodcote is the ideal location for a rural retreat, family break or staycation. We are just off junction 5 of the M53 halfway between our two cities of Liverpool and Chester, making us an ideal base for exploring the many attractions on the Wirral and surrounding areas. You will be spoilt for choice, from shopping at the nearby Cheshire Oaks designer outlet, visiting Liverpool or the award-winning Chester Zoo.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Breakfast was fantastic with excellent service. Stayed two nights in a single room which was very comfortable with a great shower. The only slight issue I had was that on arrival I could not order an evening meal until after 8.15 as there was a function on. As I was meeting up with friends at 8.30 it meant I had to eat elsewhere

Never been to Liverpool and our first experience was with the wonderful welcome from the Woodcote hotel and the young lady on reception. Our room was spotless and had a lovey sleep, very peaceful. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and our server Barbara was so friendly and informative of the area. Hooton station was a few minutes away and easy and cheap to city centre. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel and will 100% return.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch in the restaurant. There was a good choice of meals on the menu. We were particularly pleased that as a group of nine, we were all able to sit on the same large round table. The service provided by Iryna was, as always, excellent and the chef cooked all the delicious food in a timely fashion.

The evening was the best we have run in recent years, very positive comments from attendees, everyone really enjoyed themselves. Planned with the events manager Sarah. The huge TV really helped with the presentation element of the evening. The layout worked really well. The food was lovely. The staff on the night were very helpful and professional. We will be booking again from next year!

We were here for a family funeral. This is a small family run friendly hotel. The staff and owners could not do enough for us, in such difficult circumstances. The food was outstanding-we are Irish and you would find it hard to beat the breakfast you get here-massive and great quality !! Everyone so attentive and rooms are perfect. Would stay again no problem.

We treated the nan's to afternoon tea. Everything about the experience was wonderful. Staff were friendly and attentive, service was great and the food was plentiful and tasty. The afternoon tea consisted of sandwiches (4 fingers), 3 small cakes, mini eton mess and a scone with jam and clotted cream for each person. We couldn't manage to eat it all, staff boxed the remaining cakes so we could take them away. Tea and coffee included which were refilled half way through to ensure it was hot. My daughter didn't want afternoon tea so ate off the children's menu. They ensured that her meal was put through straight away and came out the same time as ours. Would highly recommend visiting. We all had a lovely afternoon. Thank you!

What a shame. From what looked like a lovely hotel it really wasn’t. Service was shocking. We booked a table for 7:30 but didn’t eat until 9.15. Breakfast in the morning was lovely but again, service was very slow. We were accused of serving under aged children and then were not allowed any further service. Nothing was asked of the adults. We appreciate a challenge 25 policy but just because people don’t carry ID doesn’t mean they are under the. Cancelled all further bookings.

In response to your review, just to clarify, this was your parties second visit to The Woodcote/610 Bar & Grill. We really do apologise that you did not enjoy your stay with us and that service was slow for your table. The service was stopped when staff were made aware that there was under age drinking on the premises. We hope you can understand our legal obligation's under the licencing law and the importance of carrying ID. We strive to make everyone's stay with us an enjoyable experience and we are sorry we did not meet your expectations.

What a wonderful hotel! We stayed over night (myself & my Mum) and had a fantastic stay. The room (number 8) that we were given was in the little cottage on the grounds and was stunning. So comfortable, huge and had everything we needed and more, including a massive bed with beautiful bedding and super comfy. We loved how quiet it was, not hearing any other guests and being away from the main building was amazing as we felt like it was more like an air bnb and we could also park right outside which helped immensely with bags etc as we are both disabled. The on site restaurant/bar, the 610 squadron bar and grill, is excellent and has fantastic food. My Mum is coeliac and needs gluten free food and most of the menu was gluten free which was such a treat for her. We had lunch and dinner in there it was so good! The staff are so lovely, warm, welcoming and friendly. We had a lovely chat with them on both check-in day and at check-out, and will definitely be visiting again soon!
