First of all, the venue is in a lovely setting with large landscaped gardens. The staff were very helpful and gave good service. However, a couple of niggles. On the Sunday, leaving the room with a (do not disturb sign) we returned to find the usual soaps etc attached with a bag to our door. The room however, had not been serviced. When my wife contacted reception to advise of such, she was told that there were two servicing groups on a Sunday and we would be attended to. She later contacted housekeeping and was advised no, there was not any service, therefore contradicting reception-not good. The food was good and of sufficient variety but when we went for breakfast on Monday morning, it was obvious no attempt had been made to treat the table, again, not good. Overall we enjoyed our visit and would certainly visit Warners again

Hotel's Favourite
First time we have visited a Warners Hotel & we will definitely be back. Enjoyed every minute of our stay. Our room was lovely, clean & had everything we needed in it. We enjoyed all our meals, the choice was excellent & the waiters/waitresses worked very hard. Entertainment team were brilliant, as was the Elvis show, the comedian & the Queen night. All the staff were very friendly from arriving to leaving. We absolutely loved every minute of our stay, even though the weather was awful.

Stayed for the w/e - although having been to this Hotel about 5 times previously, this is the 1st since the initial lockdown, so some noticeable changes ; 1) The small shop has been replaced by a smart lounge area, nice but the shop was missed despite a cabinet containing a few essentials available from Reception, but no magazines or books to purchase. 2) Entertainment - thankfully the daft (IMO) games, prior to the acts performing ie, "hands up if it's your birthday" etc, have gone. All the entertainment is now slick & professional, with the Buddy Holly tribute excellent, the Barron Nights a little less so (past their "sell by" date ?). The in-house entertainment team, much smaller than hitherto, but were very good. The Black Jacks have improved too, performing a much better repertoire than before, with more harmonies. 3) Our room (404 Fairways), was spotlessly clean, thank you. 4) Food - 1st night excellent, 2nd reasonable, & the 3rd, when we had the roast carvery, not good, having old, undercooked roast potatoes and chewy beef. The starters & desserts were good on all 3 days, as were the breakfasts. 5)Waiter service - previously many serving staff were from overseas (Poland mostly I think) who were brilliant at their job. For obvious reasons, staff now seem to be locally recruited youngsters, short on experience, which showed in many ways. Often things were missing at meal times, ie, a spoon for soup, condiment sets (which, even when provided were often empty !),dessert spoons, bread rolls forgotten to be offered etc but I must say that whenever I requested anything to be rectified it was done quickly with an apology. They'll learn I'm sure ! Overall, a good weekend stay for us, but as per the title, some good changes but not all of them in our opinion. We will be visiting again though, probably early next year.

Just stayed at Alvaston Hall for 3 nights to see the Barron Knights. Booked into room 66 and it seemed Ok at 3pm but got back to our room at 11pm and the entertainment was literally in our room. The room backed onto the stage of the Fountain Bar where the entertainment starts at 11pm- midnight, impossible to go to sleep before midnight. The room had no housekeeping coming in for the 3 days, so bins were overflowing and we ran out of loo rolls. The Barron Knights weren't so good with awful screeching sounds from the feedback and they seemed just like any other rock n roll band, they used to be more of a comedy band. Difficult to get fresh hot tea at breakfast. We stayed at Thoresby Hall not long ago and that is much better than Alvaston Hall. The house band and entertainment staff were very good. I love Warners but wouldn't stay at this one again.

We visited for three nights staying in room 195, which is lovely and spacious with a nice view. We enjoyed the evening entertainment, a Buddy Holly tribute and the Baron Knights. On the first evening despite having a dedicated car park space a table for dinner could not be found! We queued up at The Market restaurant only to be told to go to the Cheshire Barn where we queued again only to be told there was no table for us there! All our other meals were in the Market restaurant and the food was excellent, however the service was rather slow the waiters and waitresses spent a lot of time chatting together whilst tables needed clearing and customers wanted serving. However, overall we loved Alvaston and have booked to go again.
