The staff at The Bridge could not do enough for us when we stayed for my father's 90th birthday celebration. The location is idyllic and we had a wonderful time. The bedrooms need a spruce up and that affected our feelings around value for money.

The service from all the staff through this traumatic time has to be commended. For obvious reasons the restaurant wasn't open but they offered an amazing takeaway service, the Sunday Lunch is divine especially the roast beef! My bedroom was comfortable and had everything I needed, while I was working away from home. The confirmation was swift and had a covid-19 section, which allowed me to use the contactless check in, it clearly states due to covid-19 that rooms wouldn't be able to be cleaned, which is totally acceptable due to the pandemic which is still happening all around us. I can safely say, I had a very seamless comfortable stay.

I just want to say thank you to the staff for their continued hard work through these troubling times, who I've heard haven't stopped since the beginning of lockdown, well done to you all!!

Only stayed for one night but would recommend this place. room was quiet with modern decoration, dark walls and ceiling, very cosy. Looked out over a small river. Nice toiletries and bathroom clean and smart, bed really comfy and breakfast (extra) was delicious, served up in a bright relaxed dining room with a really nice outdoor space for drinks by the river. All the staff from reception to waiting staff were amazing and couldn't have been more helpful! Any problems were quickly sorted out and they were very accommodating to our large group when some arrived late for breakfast. Big shout out to Martin the night porter who had to suffer our big group when we returned after a party and kept smiling through the chaos!

We recently had a two night stay at the Bridge hotel. We had stayed there earlier in the year and been very impressed.

This visit was very disappointing.

There was no telephone in our room, we mentioned this after the first night but it was not remedied.
There was no drinking water supplied in the room, the website says that still and sparkling water is supplied to each room. As the rooms were not made up, we had to ask for more coffee and milk - it would have been thoughtful to have offered these. As we had no phone, we had to go to the reception.

Our main complaint was the noise level. We had a delicious meal in the restaurant on our first evening. However the music which was being played, which was basically house music with a driving beat, was so loud that we couldn’t hear each other speak. We asked the waitress if it was possible to turn this down, she said that the manager would not allow this.
The same music was played in the garden; as our room overlooked the garden we had our windows open as it was such a hot night (there was no air conditioning, nor were fans supplied). This made sleeping very difficult.
We cancelled our meal for the second night because of the music. We visited a local pub and heard that several local residents had complained to the hotel about the noise level. We could easily hear the music 200 metres away from the hotel.

I emailed the hotel about the stay almost a week ago and have not yet even received an acknowledgment.

This was a very disappointing stay, and we will not be returning.

We ended up at The Bridge as we were desperate for somewhere to stay having had to cancel our booked hotel, which we were hoping to spend three nights in. We were shown the available rooms and despite our concerns, we opted for one at the very end of the hotel. It was a small room which was painted in a very dark grey, which we’re sure was supposed to look stylish but actually looked dark and dingy. It was only once we’d started to settle in the room and began to unpack, we realised there was no wardrobe and no drawers. There was a metal shelved unit which may have been for storing clothes but with no coat hangers provided, our clothes remained in our suitcase on the floor like we’d opted for a cheap motel. We couldn’t ring reception as there was no phone in the room! There was a large bathroom with a large bath and separate small shower cubicle but it was stark and unwelcoming. The few complimentary toiletries had a hefty warning about charges if anything was removed from the room. There wasn’t even a box of tissues in our room. For £155 a night, this was a total disappointment and we cut short our stay. We spent one miserable night here and then moved elsewhere.

We booked through Booking.com and noticed the mixed reviews but on balance felt that the place looked good. On checking in I was stunned to find that we were charged a £25 per head damage/theft deposit, required to put any costs down to the room also. The room was dark and dingy, very dated and the bathroom had clearly had leaks around the bath. The TV was very small and had limited reception(no BBC channels at all). There was no WIFI. We had only booked one night initially due to Covid issues at home, but were intending to stay for three nights in total if we continued to test negative. I told the receptionist about this whilst pointing out the problems with the room. I thought that they may have offered an alternative room or some other mitigation, especially as we could be staying longer. After speaking with her manager she told that the wifi was normally poor, the maintenance man was away isolating and that there was nothing that she could do to improve our stay other than give us the password to the staff wifi(which didn't work in the bedrooms). We had already done some research into alternative accommodation and therefore checked out the next morning after a slightly uncomfortable nights sleep.
The restaurant was excellent however. We ate there on each of the 3 nights that we stayed in Prestbury. Really good food, excellent staff and presentation.

A room with 'river view' turned out to be a view of the yard with empty beer casks, cardboard bales and rubbish bins with occasional crash of empty bottles tipped in. A light fitting was not working as you entered the room and it had very squeaky floor boards throughout. The bathroom had no toilet roll holder or beakers and it had a very noisy fan. They reluctantly offered to see if they had another room available, but as we had already unpacked, we did not want to waste more time moving. Thumping music in the dining room made conversation difficult. We asked for it to be turned down but we were told this 'could not be done as it was centrally controlled'. The 'Flat Cap Signature' Shepherd's Pie consisted mainly of hard crust pastry with very little lamb. There was little attention to Covid safety with hand sanitizers empty or not dispensing and several customers not wearing masks strolling through the restaurant unchallenged.

We booked an outside table for a family brunch at 10am morning. The whole experience was so disappointing and the staff gave us no apology. After waiting for our order to be taken for a good 20 minutes, we waited a further 50 minutes and still no drinks or food arrived. We couldn’t wait any longer so abandoned it. The staff didn’t appear under pressure and there was no urgency about them. At first there was just one guy serving and clearing, but soon after a couple of other staff members appeared. It wasn’t at all busy at all. Other people were chasing their orders and some received their food before drinks. We asked twice about our drinks and there was no apology or effort to chase them up. Even as we left and told them, the staff didn’t seem bothered which was really strange.
Previous to this, my father attempted breakfast last week. Again, his drink didn’t arrive for ages so he walked out too. He thought it was just one off, but it obviously wasn’t with our experience today.
Such a shame as the outdoor area is lovely and we always want to support local places. We won’t be returning.
I’d also like to point out that the outdoor tables were not wiped down properly after other people had left so it didn’t fill us with confidence that it was a safe environment to be in from a corona virus point of view.

Since the refurbishment took place we started going to the bridge as we was told it was a much younger crowd. Became regulars for about 2 months left some nice reviews and had some really good meals.

Booked a table and arrived 5 minutes early. On arrival a girl who I think is the host in a spotty leopard dress, looked at us and said “any of them 3 tables there” referring to the high stools I said sorry am here for dinner and she said I’ll go and check if there is any room in the restaurant. She came back and there was it was only half full.. am confused why she didn’t want us in that seating area. Also 2 people came in and there were about 3 tables for 2 people available and she sat them on a table of 4, so they can’t have had many bookings?!

Ordered three chicken roast dinners, and I asked if I could have some hummus while waiting. An hour went by and I asked we’re the roasts we’re everyone around us seemed to be getting there’s. The girl who took our order came back about 45 minutes after waiting and said what did we order. The manager stated there was a mix up as the chef looked at the hummus as a starter. After the food arrived 4 roasts dinner came even though we only ordered 3.

Roast dinners arrived we all left the potatoes as they were really cold and hard no potato in the middle really disappointed as last week was really good. Chicken was nice a tasty and tender.

Manager dealt with it well apologised, asked if anyone came to check up if the meal was ok and that didn’t happen. He took 15% off the bill as a nice gesture, I wasn’t looking for that I explained I just wanted them to no that standards seemed to have slipped today.

Will revisit for drinks but will leave food for now.

My wife and I booked a table for Christmas day evening to enjoy a romantic Xmas dinner at 17:00hrs.
That evening it was cold, blustery and very chilled as we parked the car we both looked forward to enjoying a cosy romantic evening together.
This was to be our first dinner date at The Bridge and the venue was recommended to us, our daughter was married at the church next door so you can imagine we never thought for one moment we were walking into “Faulty Towers”.

On arrival at the booking in desk at the bar, we were greeted by a miserable man, who about as enthusiastic as a “Snowman” and he was certainly not dressed for the occasion “Xmas day evening” and his customer service skills were nonexistent. One can only assume he either never got the Xmas pressies he desired, or hates his job.
So he immediately said we are very busy this evening, your table is outside in the marquee, I replied that I never booked a table outside and that we’d rather prefer to be seated indoors. He said that we could start outside and when a table became available, he’d move us inside, I asked is heating was provided outside? He replied it was. So we decided that we would give it a go rather than cause any type of disturbance at the bar.
So we walked threw the bar and upon arriving at the marquee we found fellow diners sitting in a drafty, cold, and miserable conditions, complaining about the set-up, the marquee was not even dressed to give the impression it was Xmas (for £95 per head) I could see this was going to be a complete disaster.
Diners sitting with puffer jackets and gloves on, other diners adorned in blankets over shoulders and legs trying to keep warm “see photos” and to top it off we had been directed to a table at the rear of the marquee- with a massive gap in the side of the marquee and the wind whistling in… what a joke this was during into (see photos)
We both wanted to leave immediately, we should have but stayed to have some banter with the others diners so all said that they would raise serious complaints.

A young waitress came to take our order for drinks, she was very apologetic and clearly embarrassed by the situation.
In brief, the starters was a joke.
The main course was not much better (I would guess we had one tablespoon of gravy) and being outside the food was cold within minutes. No-one came to enquire if the food was okay, otherwise I would have asked for some more gravy.

Finally, my wife has Ryanaud’s and both her hands suffered that evening… we never stayed for dessert.

And to top it off, as we exited via the route we entered we seen plenty of empty table in the bar area, the so called “meet & greeter” needs to be fired.

I would like to agree with others who have complained “The Leigh Arms” is a far better option.

No, the Bridge has been under the new ownership of Flat Cap Hotels since 1 May 2018. The restaurant and kitchen have been refurbished and we achieved a 5 Star Food Hygiene & Safety rating. Six suites have been refurbished along with the Riverside Room, our function venue. We expect all other bedrooms will have had their refurbishments completed by summer 2019.
