Called for lunch had a fabulous meal served by friendly staff next to a real coal fire , tremendous can highly recommend we had various dishes Cumberland sausage, mince & dumplings, madras curry , noodles, steak and ale and fish pie ALL delicious followed by deserts 👍
We stopped overnight on our C2C cycle ride. All of the staff we met were very welcoming and helpful. My room was comfortable and spacious, with a good shower. Both dinner and breakfast were good, with the fish pie at dinner deserving a particular mention. (If given the option, I would add a "+" to my overall rating.)
This super little hotel nestled in Alston was our saviour when our car broke down. Guy was so welcoming and friendly, he helped us in our hour of need. I have no hesitation in recommending this delightful place. The rooms were clean and the food delicious. Well done Guy and team. Special thanks to Chelsea at the bar for revealing her secret stash of chocolate!! We will return under different circumstances. Gill S
Our car broke down on Hartside Summit & RAC couldn't fix after a 7 hour wait. Luckily able to book room at this hotel at about 8.30 in the evening. Phoned hotel to see if a taxi could pick us up, none available but lovely Guy, the owner, says no trouble he will come for us. Gets us to hotel, kitchen closed but he offered to make us some sandwiches. We met lovely Chelsey who served us in the bar. So kind & friendly. Room was clean & comfortable just what we needed in our time of need. A good cooked breakfast. Then Guy drove us back to car in the morning. I would highly recommend this small friendly hotel, nothing was too much bother to them. Thanks for rescuing us 3 stranded pensioners.
