Staff very friendly and welcoming, room had amazing potential but as with the rest of the hotel was a little tired and dated. Even so this was excellent value for money. The only real disappointment was the restaurant menu, while there was an offering of gluten free starters, there were no gluten free mains, which we found slightly bizzare. Breakfast...

We visited the hotel as two families staying overnight after visiting the Polar Express. Our rooms were perfect, the food was excellent and very good value, and the hotel is definitely child friendly. Very comfortable room, had a great night sleep and wanted for nothing at breakfast. We'll definitely stay again if we're in the area.

Staff are lovely - only seemed to be 2 of them doing everything including preparing and serving food - they work really hard to provide a good experience, however it is let down by the very dated and worn décor. Tatty faux four poster with curtain hanging off, worn old fashioned bedding, tired bathroom, stained carpet, decoration scuffed. Food just...

This hotel is right on the C2C route after Alston and provides safe storage for bikes. We had a very comfortable bedroom with a four poster bed. The chef is amazing and we had one of our best dinners of our trip and very good value for money. Staff are friendly and attentive, You feel as though you're going back...

Just spent two nights here and had a fantastic break. Ideal location for sight seeing both in the lakes, Northumberland or North Pennines. Stayed before and not disappointed. Room large and welcoming, breakfast excellent and 2 fabulous meals in the bar area. True dog friendly hotel, roaring fires and staff who couldn't do enough for you. Georgia was particularly helpful...
