Travellers' Choice
Outstanding food at this family run hotel. There is a cafe, restaurant and bar and seven ensuite rooms. The cafe serves homemade cakes and scones with lattes, chill out and meet your friends. The popular evening restaurant has extensive menu catering for all. Most of the rooms are spacious with lovely fell views with comfortable beds. The service is friendly, efficient and unobtrusive. Situated in Alston within walking distance of all its facilities and within the North Pennines area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

A pleasant enough bar and restaurant. Kid friendly but no evidence of Covid protection. We weren’t required to wear a mask and the bar staff and waitresses weren’t wearing them. I didn’t see any hand sanitizer either. That said the food was fine but not exceptional, there was no kids menu and the staff were very helpful and friendly

Hotel is showing its age and is in desperate need of updating. Our room was grubby and the curtain rail was broken. The toilet seat was dirty and cracked. The food wasn't bad but a bit bland, will not be staying again, best avoided

Hi please private message us we have no trace of your booking and are you sure this is our hotel and not the one in Brighton? Our hotel is lovely, well decorated and clean and no broken curtain rails or toilet seats. We serve 100s of meals a week in our restaurant so we are quite bewildered. take care. Carole and Michael

Just enjoyed a fantastic stay in this lovely hotel. Staff very warm and friendly and work so hard to make sure you have the best time. Room 3 so comfy, excellent king sized bed , quality bed linen and towels, lovely modern bathroom with walk in shower and large bath. Bedroom also has a seating area. Food in the restaurant was fresh cooked and a good menu to suit all tastes. Breakfast was excellent, quality ingredients cooked to perfection. I cannot tell you how much we have enjoyed our stay here. Bet it’s lovely in the depth of winter. Thanks for an excellent stay.

Stayed for 3 nights in this welcoming, friendly and comfortable inn. They catered beautifully for my wife’s gluten free diet – all food cooked to order and readily adapted for us. Great breakfasts, great dinners, easy parking, perfect.

My partner and myself and our little yorkie 🐶 have been staying in a cottage in lovely Alston. We had lunch at Alston house mid week...enjoyed it so much we came back for our last supper Friday evening. We hadn't booked but the friendly staff found us a table. My partner ordered the steak pie which he said was lovely and I ordered the duck...from the specials board! It was absolutely delicious...beautifully presented and huge portions...thoroughly recommend this place! The roaring fire is a huge bonus too 😊
