Outstanding food at this family run hotel. There is a restaurant and bar and seven ensuite rooms. The cafe serves homemade cakes and scones with lattes, chill out and meet your friends. The popular evening restaurant has extensive menu catering for all diets. Most of the rooms are spacious with lovely fell views with comfortable beds. The service is friendly, efficient and unobtrusive. Situated in Alston within walking distance of all its facilities and within the North Pennines area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

This was the second booking by a group of fishermen. Our party of 12 thoroughly enjoyed the stay and the food was superb with a good variety. The bar was well stocked and they even provided a room complete with large T.V. screen to watch the rugby world cup finals. The hotel is run by professional people who are so friendly.

We we were looking for somewhere to get out of the rain. 3 locals all recommended Alston House Hotel and we were not disappointed the atmosphere was so good we came back for an evening meal and ordered the lamb shoulder. we're still talking about it now! It was delicious, we're planning our next trip back to coincide with lamb shoulder being on the menu again. Brilliant atmosphere, good food what's not to like!

We ate dinner here Sunday June 19th and Monday June 20th 2023, a family group of 9 people plus a dog. The food and ambience were fantastic. We enjoyed the Sunday special menu the first night which was amazing value and so tasty. Second night we had drinks in the garden then all had different dishes and all amazing. Would highly recommend

We were recommended Alston House by a friendly local in a nearby pub. Being vegetarian we are used to only having one option on the menu, we were blown away to see an entire vegan and veggie menu! Dogs welcome, great selection at the bar. Reasonably priced too! Parking available. The food was outstanding, very tasty with good portion sizes! Highly recommended

We have been coming to Alston House for over 10 years and we always have a wonderful reception. Carol and Mike are wonderful hosts, the beds so comfortable and the food always first class and such big portions. We always enjoy the spot in front of the roaring log fire. We will be back again soon.

We booked a table for Sunday lunch. We were greeted promptly by Carol who took us through to the restaurant. The meal was beautiful (with plenty of choice), in absolutely lovely surroundings and the service was fantastic. Thank you, we’ll be back!!

I have stayed in Alston House a few times now and every time it has been amazing! The rooms are gorgeous and impeccably clean. The room is fully kitted out for a relaxing stay, the bed is super comfortable and big with the softest sheets and pillows, a TV on the wall and even a cafetiere with lovely coffee which I appreciated. The en suite was very modern and luxurious. The food here is so delicious (the best lasagne I have tasted), we made sure to make it down for breakfast every morning, and at dinner we enjoyed the large fire place and sometimes live folk music - always a great atmosphere with the tastiest food and drinks, Also throughout the seasons there is often fabulous decor for Christmas, Halloween etc which I look forward to every time. Whilst staying at Alston House we have ventured out to the nearby bars and shops. We also enjoy scenic walks looking over the Moor and we were able to drive to different Lake District spots. I would recommend staying here to everyone! Such a gem in the Lake District area and perfect for a restful or adventure filled stay. And big thanks to Mike, Carole, Simone and all the staff who make every stay so special.…
