We walked in and after 10 minutes walked out... where's the staff ? group in front of us did the same. If your inclined that way help yourself to the bar clearly no one cares ! Pub itself dingy and tired looking, walked past the place a couple of times and didn't sound busy.

I arrived in Alston having not booked anywhere to stay - I like it that way. But it was gala weekend - the place was full up. Directed to the Vic and got the last single room in town: that is a priceless room! The chinese landlady was great, really helpful. I crashed out at 7pm and realised I was...

We called in to the Victoria Inn with the sole intention of ordering a takeaway and stayed to have a pint while we waited. The Inn itself looks very tired, and if impressions of the bar area are anything to go by, I would be disappointed to think that I was staying there. I briefly popped into the ladies and...

I took a room on the first floor, above the main entrance, from which users of the bar held loud conversations until 2.30 am, so sleep was impossible. Upon arrival, the room was cold, as the radiator had not been turned on. My friend's room was cold all night, as the window did not close properly, there was dust and...

We stayed in another place in Alston but had a takeaway Indian meal from The Victoria Inn and it was one of the best we've ever tasted. We were sceptical being miles away from a major town and in the middle of the countryside but the food is obviously by someone who knows how to cook Indian food and doesn't...

We booked this hotel so that we could visit our son who works as a group leader at the nearby outdoor adventure centre. Many of the other local hotels were already booked up, but we wanted to stay in the centre of the village, so we booked it. We were a little worried because it seemed so inexpensive and the...

I am extremely frustrated with Victoria Inn . We  had made a reservevation for Saturday 2nd of August at the B&B. However on the day we were set to go we received a phone call to say the room had been double booked and my partner and I would not be able  to stay there. I am extremely upset at...
