I've just returned home from a field trip to Keswick with university, we stayed at the Derwent Water Independent Hostel for 5 days (mon-fri) The Hostel itself is lovely and clean with spacious dorms and amenity space. The food was great, cooked breakfast every morning, a substantial packed lunch and a three course meal for dinner. The hostel is set...

Very clean rooms, friendly staff and fantastic location. You can choose from a private room or a shared dorm. Really good bathroom/showering facilities. Would highly recommend for short stays/adventure breaks.

Location - Very good. There is a good 30-minute hike up the waterfall to Ashness Bridge right next to the hostel, and it is about 15-20 minutes into Keswick Town by car. Cleanliness - Very good. Was very impressed by the standard of cleanliness in the hostel! Every place from the rooms to the toilets to the communal areas were...

This hostel felt more like a hotel- comfortable & spacious bedrooms, immaculate bathrooms and the option of ordering cooked meals. The staff are very friendly and will give you tips about what to do and see. Derwentwater lake is immediately in front of the hostel and there is a waterfall and some good walking trails just behind it, so you...

The breakfast here is quite nice, with a buffet and good coffee. The rooms are nice as well. They are outfitted with bunk beds as a hostel, but they are clean and comfortable. There is a waterfall outback as well to add to the grounds.

Just got back from a weekend at DIH and felt I needed to write a review in appreciation of the amazing staff. The hostel was lovely, situated on the shores of derewentwater with great views over Skiddaw and the surrounding fells. The rooms were basic, but clean and functional. It's dorm accommodation so eat plugs are a must! The food...

37 of us stayed for the weekend. Beautiful spot, staff were helpful, flexible, good honest food that fills you up for activity. Onsite bar, lots of facilities and games. Hostel style bedrooms are what you'd expect; basic bunk beds, but clean warm and comfy. We'd go back. Love the lakes, especially Derwentwater, so much fun to be had!

Excellent location, lovely building and staff could not be more accomodating! They were really helpful with dietry needs and gave us great advice about local walks. Great rooms and facilities. Was really quiet at night too. Only improvement could be a bit of dusting in the rooms and updating some of the showers. All in all couldn't recommend it more!...

4 of us spent a week in August 2016. We have stayed annually since 2012. Service is warm, friendly, highly knowledgeable and right for each individual. Some very fit outdoor groups use the hostel too, but we were advised gentle scenic walks nearby that were not too long for our then small children. The hostel is warm, not drafty, with...
