Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The minute we arrived we heard the shrieking from the changing room and were informed a large party of 11 just arrived. Obviously very noisy, taking photos in changing room while I was getting changed. Very concerned I’d appear in a photo surely a breach of privacy laws!! The outdoor pool was too cold to stay in for more than a few minutes and any ambiance ruined by the noise of the large party. Management need to decide what they are aiming for here. A spa for shrieking, large parties or a tranquil retreat in the Lake District. We’ve visited several times before being local and standards have dipped massively.

We stayed for a night in this property and had the best stay in the UK i must say. The location of the property is so serene that you can spend never ding time sitting and starring at it. The Christmas decoration just add another layer of festivity to your life and they have done such a brilliant job with it. The highlight is the Fall spa where you get this beautiful infinity hydro pool experience which is the cherry on the cake. We are defnitely coming back!!

This one night stay has replenished my mind, body and soul. I will book 2 nights next time as I enjoyed this spa hotel so much. Staff were all amazing, food was great, it was great that we could relax in the heated pool with a nice wind down drink too. The pool temperature was awesome, lovely and warm which made this perfecto . Very friendly relaxed vibe and down to Earth visitors all there to enjoy with no Pretence 🤩.

Stayed over in The Lodore spa suites for one night . I must say we were very impressed with the service we received from the courteous staff . We ate in Mizu and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Breakfast was also excellent. Our suite was stunning and very comfortable and well designed. We felt the package was excellent value .( We did not use the Spa ) We have recently stayed at The Gilpin, The Low Wood and the Brimstone in Langdale and The Lodore Falls hotel has been our favourite so far. Well done Lake District hotels our experience was awesome.

Hotel was good overall, however the mizu restaurant was really bad. Food was awful and clearly re-heated. It was stale, cold and tasted terrible. £26 for cold, gloopy, tasteless pad thai. Th spa was the highlight of our trip.

Worst experience I've ever had at any hotel. Fraudulently charged for a meal we never ate, racist staff, drinks confiscated by a mini dictator, and all this happened in less than 24 hours. Tried to discuss with management, who mysteriously got called away, when the issues were raised. Tried to contact the complaints department- which doesn't exist. I'd like to think it wasn't because I was the only guest of colour at the property or that my hope that the hotel isn't racially bias, but after what I exprlerienced, I can't. Spend just short of a £1000 for a 24-hour trip, only to be left feeling traumatised by the whole event and no way to discuss my frustration - except by trying to contact the MD of the company, who has yet to respond, because let's be fair why would he care about his staff, racial abuse or the fact his employees have zero customer service skills - if you are a person of colour, avoid this place like the plague

Response from Marcell Cilliers, General Manager at Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa
Responded 3 days ago
Hi Sofia, It is very dissapointing to see that you are going to great lengths by opening multiple accounts in order to slander our bussiness. I would like to clarify that we employ team members from many countries and from all over the world I will use this opportunity to praise my team for doing a fantastic job and for the contibution that they bring to our Hotel. Also we welcome with open arms on a daily basis guest from any country without prejudice about, their colour, their nationality or different backgrounds and beliefs. Your accusation about some kind of racial profiling is totally unfounded and you are clearly using it very aggresively in both of your reviews purely because it is something very frowned upon in order for you to achieve maximum attention. You were fully charged for your meal, beacuse you did eat all of it and for this i have ample evidence from staff and cctv. You have comunicated with the Hotel Manager and the General Manager verbally and via email. However what you are claiming that happened it is not supported from our team members, myself, and the guests wich you caused great distress during your stay when you and your friend went to great length to verbally abuse them. This is not acceptable. Also in the morning of your checkout you did not pay your final bill even though the reception team verbally comunicated with you that there is a balance to pay, instead you choose to ignore it and jumped on the taxi. I am afraid i will have to report this review and any other reviews that you may write in the future as malicious and with intent to damage our bussines and for using the Tripadvisor feedback platform as a blackmail tool to achieve your goal. Please refrain from posting such feedback on our tripadvisor page in the future. Kind regards Ilir Thomollari Hotel manager

This hotel is disgusting, took payments without authorisation, had our drinks taken from us, were racially profiled and then charged for a meal we didn't eat. Avoid like the plague if your face doesn't fit. I have tried to reach out to anyone to discuss the disgusting way myself and my guest were treated and have had not one person respond. Please do not give this racist establishment a penny of your money

Response from Marcell Cilliers, General Manager at Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa
Responded 4 days ago
Sofia, I am not supporting your review at all. Claiming that we were racially discriminated against you is completely untrue when the fact of the matter and situation was that your conduct is/was not acceptable during your time at Lodore Falls Hotel and Spa. I have been in contact on the day and by e-mail on the 26th of November at 19:04 and although trying to be understanding at the time, your complete disregard for the truth and manipulating a social media platform to project the situation from an angle that mis-represent Lodrore Falls Hotel and Spa of our coulture and what we are standing for is completely unacceptable. I honestly think you should be ashamed of your conduct at the time and your false review. Needless to say that I will report this review. As benifit to the reader, this was our correspondance at the time. I have resend this to you this morning after I have received your inaccurate guest review feedback. Below is my e-mail from 26/11/2023 at 19:04. I have been around the office area around 12:30pm today when the Spa session end but could not wait any later. We have had the large Frozen Afternoon tea event on today for 188 guest hence the pressure on my schedule. I have met with Sophia and I have a few aspects that I need to clarify. I have ran the cameras back to look at the timings and could see the interaction between the team and the guests that left the complaints. It was table 18, on the right hand side behind your guest, table 11 which were against the window behind Sophia and the 2 guests from the side lounge. I understand that from the formal complaints that it was not only the volume that caused the frustration but also the language and choice of words during your conversations. Sofia claimed that they left the dining room and went upstairs straight to bed at 7:30 pm. I could not support this after running the cameras back. I can confirm that you did depart from the restaurant but only went upstairs after 9pm. When I sat with your guest in the function area and we returned to side lounge, Sofia made me understand that she bought the full bottle of Prosecco that I have seen in your hand at the time after one of the managers took away the Prosecco from the side lounge table due to the disruption that you were causing. According to the Bar server, that was not the case. He said that you have received the bottle at no charge after stating that your bottle was mistakenly taken. I appreciate that guests wants to have a good time and we gladly welcome that but we have to look at the interest of all guests. I fully appreciate that you have been here before and can only apologize if you feel that we have not met your expectations during your stay. I trust that you will be able to appreciate the position I am placed in for you are from the same industry and will understand that we have to take all guest feedback on board. Regards, Marcell Cilliers General Manager

very lovely hotel with friendly staff and in a beautiful location. We stayed in the main hotel for one night and had a 2-hour slot in the spa which we enjoyed very much. We stayed in the garden suite room which is a very average room, but it was not clean. The floor was covered in hair and there was lots of dust in the corners. We also had dinner in the hotel restaurant and some of my food came out cold. Overall though these issues felt very minor as the spa experience was definitely a highlight.

Not the cosy hotel we expected as we were so cold. We paid extra for a superior room only to find ourselves overlooking kitchens and what looked to be tradesman entrance….. extremely noisy. Our meal was so disappointing that we sent it back. Very disappointed with our whole experience.
