Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a lovely time staying in the train cabin, Annie this weekend. Me being a dumbo didn’t read the email properly about bring your own bedding and after worrying we where going to freeze for the night, we mentioned it to Louise (the owner) and she couldn’t have been more helpful. She let us borrow pillows/quilts/sleeping bags we were toasty warm all night, thankyou so much. Some very nice walks around the area. Black cock inn pub in Broughton-in-Furness has delicious meals and they allow dogs.
We would definitely recommend staying here and we will hopefully be back in the summer 😊

Can't believe we never knew about this place sooner!

The site is in a fantastic location, with absolutely stunning views - we were lucky enough to get the sunshine too!! Waking up to the sunrise in the morning just lovely.
Nice to have the family dogs wandering around the site and popping to say hello during the day!

Louise is lovely. What a warm, friendly welcome we got.

Facilities & wash room clean, with plenty of sockets to use too.

If you happen to be staying on the site on a Thursday or Friday, pop to Broughton for the fish and chip van in the square.

Well worth a visit - shame we couldn't stay longer!!

Looking forward to visiting again.

The site is well located, the showers are warm and clean as are the toilets and the camping plot tidy and surrounded by stunning scenery.
Louise, the campsite manager was friendly along with the farm staff, all where very welcoming and helpful with any of my queries. You can purchase firewood and kindling from the site at a good price and fire's are allowed within firebins provided. There is also a washing up area too.
Certainly very good value for money and location and we will be back again!

My friend and I just stayed for 4 nights in one of the railway cabins. Whilst I appreciate this is a working farm and I am expecting a “rustic” experience, the ceiling of our railway cabin had a good covering of cobwebs as did the corners of the windows (with some dead flies in them as an added bonus) and I get the feeling that these are not given a regular deep clean.

Likewise the showers and toilets … only 2 ladies toilets and 3 showers which on the plus side did have hot water but were not cleaned for the duration of our stay (I assume this because there was a used tampon perched on top of a pipe in the end shower on day one and it was still there this morning)

Don’t get me wrong, I am happy with basic facilities but at £55 a night I expect basic cleaning to be carried out too. A shame because the location is lovely, with beautiful views and lovely farm animals.

The farm complex set in a beautiful setting. Tha camp site is well run and the facilities are good for campers, however recently four glamps have been sited there by Long Valley Yurts. These are great with hot tubs. However, the nearest toilets are approx 150 to 200 mtr away, There are insufficient facilities to support the four glamps as well as all the campers. To get into main toilets 2 mens, 2 ladies, plus 2 showers in each there was a queue. I would have expected facilities to support the prices paid and would like to think that plans are proposed by Long Valley Yurts to put in whatever is required closer to the glamps especially during the pandemic. The two chemical toilets situated part way to the main facilities are on sloping ground and we're not emptied during our stay, the smell was atrocious. Short walk to village was not true( approx 1hr). The information given by Long Valley was not correct.

Absolutely brilliant, the railway carriages are so good, loads of room, clean, and well thought out, double bed one side, bunk on the other with a log burner in the middle ..with the log burner on it soon gets warm. Amazing views on a working farm, a couple of pigs, loads of hens and some adorable dogs. Logs and kindling , fire lighters are available to buy on site, although it took me a a good hour to get the log burner lit, my god it was warm! Lighting one isn’t easy if you’ve not done it before, I googled it... it’s not just shove a log in and some firelighters, there is a way.. deffo worth the wait tho. The showers, Loos, kitchen, all clean, and functional and plenty of hot water. Definitely booking again, it’s a 30 min tops drive from Coniston, so it’s not to in the sticks. Can’t wait for next visit! 10/10 Thanks for a great stay!!!

Lovely, warm and friendly welcome from Louise. She advised us to pitch up the top due to the muddy conditions further down the site and her advice was much appreciated. Great views from the top and a very spacious site up there. Showers and toilets are basic as previous reviews state but I’d rather say a rustic feel to them and lots of hot water when I showered. Lovely to see and appreciate the animals wandering around the site, 3 dogs, a cat and chickens. Fire pits available and Louise was always around when we asked for logs and milk. I’d stay again. Great site if you want to feel away from it all.

The farm is brilliantly situated in the middle of nowhere so a proper Lake District feel to it.
Saying that however the nearest village is still only a 30 min walk or short drive to access food and drink.

Plenty of pitching options available, recommend on top of the hill for the best views and wind protection.

Facilities are basic, but your camping so get over it.

Stayed here with a group of mates, we had a few of the rail cabins. The cabin was very rustic and tight for space, bed was comfy enough and the wood burner was good. I wouldn’t recommend the rail cabins for anyone who doesn’t like spiders or creepy crawlies. The cabins have gaps in the walls and floorboards so you get alot of insects from the outside in the cabins. Lots of cobwebs inside aswell. Toilets and showers were a bit run down but they do the job and were clean(ish). There is a room that has plug sockets and a freezer, handy for charging electronics and refreezing ice packs. Lots of friendly animals roaming around, unfortunately there is a group of terriers running around the site terrorising other dogs and the farm animals, I would be reluctant to bring my own dog to this site. Louise who helped us with check in was friendly and helpful. Overall i’d recommend this site for couples or solo campers wanting a break in a less touristy area of the Lakes. This site isn’t for groups of lads as you’re not allowed to play music and noise has to be kept down by 22:30. Would I come back? Maybe, I wouldn’t stay in a rail cabin again if I did.

Ok yes, the showers can be cold. BUT If you can get over that (and there are times of day when it's warmer) then you have got the perfect campsite to get back to the beautiful calm nature that surrounds you. This campsite is stunning. Set on a hillside there are three sort of levels which flatten out and you can pitch on which give the impression of lots of space. All are facing incredible views of the rolling hills. The site is massive in the sense there is loads on it, but very spacious. There are two little wooded areas. One full of oaks is incredibly beautiful. There are little streams to paddle in. There is an old railway bridge that the kids liked to play on that gives amazing views.
The lady who owns the site is really friendly and helpful. This is a working farm and you can watch the sheep being rounded up in the field below in the morning. There are three cute little dogs who belong to the owners who spend their day wondering from pitch to pitch having cuddles with the campers and a cat. There are chickens and ducks that wonder around. The main site with toilets and washing area is really cute. And kept very clean all day long (Basic but cute). And in the wash room there are tons of sockets to charge phones etc. The nearby village is lovely. I really can't find a fault at all. (And we stayed during torrential rain and wind!)
