Spend 2 nights in the garden suite. Tina has just installed a new kitchen which is well equipped, a real unexpected bonus. The suite is quirky with real charm. The bed was really comfy & the bathroom was super warm. Really tasty breakfast. The location is ideal for getting to the lakes but without the hustle & bustle. We were blessed with lovely weather & were able to sit in the garden until early evening. Tina is a great host

The hosts are most welcoming, the blue house is a lovely quirky old cottage in a beautiful setting with the pretty Cartmel not far away. Our room was so pretty with all the extras you might need for a night away from home. Also breakfast was yummy, no complaints from us!

Home after a fantastic 2 night stay in the Garden Suite with my partner, our dog and my parents. The cottage was beautiful and full of character. Tina was a really accommodating host and cooked a 5 star breakfast! Grilled grapefruit was a family favourite! The cottage setting was beautiful and just a short drive to Newby Bridge or Windermere. If you’re looking for a nearby walk with views, I would recommend a walk straight from the b&b over to Simpson ground reservoir. Thank you so much to Tina for a wonderful stay!

Just returned from a 2-night stay at this beautiful relaxing retreat . Spent one night in Romany caravan and one in the cosy and very comfortable main house. Stunning location and a very welcoming hostess Tina who makes a delicious breakfast and provided us with complementary home made flapjacks. We enjoyed the lovely surroundings and the luxury of the accommodation . Hope to return soon x Sheila Vose

A lovely cosy experience in The Blue House, with good facilities in the cottage. Everything provided for including flapjacks in the bedroom! Nice touches with fresh milk and a fridge! Only negative issue was the bathroom being downstairs!

We did overall really enjoy our stay here. I will begin with the positives: the location is ideal, close proximity to Cartmel for lovely restaurants, not far from exploring places in the Lakes such as Windermere, national trusts, Ulverston etc. There are lots of walks too. If you're after a nice short walk nearby (albeit a windy one!), try the reservoir at the top which is lovely. The accommodation is cosy and very pleasant. We were in the garden suite which had plenty of space for us, our children and the dogs. The hostess Tina was very nice and mostly welcoming. Her breakfasts were amazing! I really cannot fault it and particularly enjoyed the homemade bread, grilled grapefruit, her pancakes and the coffee. There was great variety. Our children loved the food too. The bedroom was very comfortable and the coffee machine is a nice touch (perhaps more pods would be nice). Our only slight negatives would be: we were in dog friendly accommodation and places we have stayed before have specified either in note form or verbally that dogs cannot be left in the room alone thus we weren't aware of this and left them alone for a few hours one day. I do wish we would have known so we could have made different arrangements. I feel as though milk and water could have been topped up more. One of our bins weren't emptied on our stay and our wine glasses weren't cleaned. I know these aren't big issues but it would have helped. The downstairs bedroom was rather cold, we did not have logs for the fire, the under floor heating wasn't on and we weren't given any instructions. Luckily it was quite mild outside during our stay. The shower isn't very powerful at all and if you are very tall you may struggle. These were only slight niggles and like I said earlier it really is a nice guesthouse and we can see why people overall enjoy it and we did have a lovely stay.…

Excellent breakfast menu catering for veggies. Very friendly and helpful host and 4 legged companions! Everything you expect and need is in the room and bathroom plus fresh flapjacks every day which are delicious. If you are staying more than a couple of days I would think about the garden room rather than the room in the main house, just to allow for the extra space. Would definitely recommend.
