Visited here for a short break to the lakes and was not disappointed. The rooms are basic but clean and well attended. The staff friendly and helpful, the food great and all in all a great stay and great value for money. We will definitely be paying a return visit in the not too distant future.

Room was large, clean and with a bright modern bathroom. The breakfast was excellent. The bar was inviting and served five excellent ales and the evening meals were spot on. Having two other pubs on their doorstep keeps all of them on their toes. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Some fabulous walks from the front (or back) door.

We had a lovely meal, excellent beer and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Pub is in a lovely area bear to the terminus of the Eskdale to Ravenglass railway, Great pub we will be back again as soon as we can.

I was over in Eskdale staying in the near by campsite and ate in the Brook House for three of my four nights in valley. The food is hearty and good. I would recommend their beef and beer pie - very generous with the meat compared to other hostelries. They have a numerous guest beers - all well kept and...

After trawling through various places to eat, an impromptu selection of differing places which were booked up, we managed to get the last place for two. Food very good, not the best beef in ale pie in Cumbria as described by a previous reviewer, in my opinion, far from it. Notwithstanding my view, the food was very good, my partner...

Called here for a lunch stop whilst on a Mountain Goat Tour. Close to the Ravenglass and Esk Railway. Happy servers in the hotel. Good range of meals on offer. Presentation was good and service rather quick. Quality and ambience excellent. Inside and exterior seating available.

After ten hours walking, and looking somewhat bedraggled, my brother and I stopped by on the way home for dinner. The wine list did not disappoint and the food was really good. We both had three courses, a mixture from the regular menu and the specials board. We will definitely return next year. A great find.

I had the pleasure of staying one night while walking from Coniston to Ravenglass with a group of friends. The hotel is situated in the beautiful Eskdale Valley on the edge of the village of Boot. The twin bedroom is small but adequate for the purpose of sleep, and there is en suite bathroom with over bath shower. There is...

Don't expect chips with your steak, but they'll make a nice gluten free peppercorn sauce. Cracking selection of booze too and good service. Meal was well portioned, good atmosphere and picturesque surroundings. Can't imagine there's much parking when it gets busy.

For a hamlet the size of Boot, three pubs are good going and the quality of food must be good to compete, and we weren't wrong, good specials and decent portion sizes with an excellent choice of beers. So good we ate there twice in the space of a week
