Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Is a cracking little spot for a stay, good location for travelling in and out, staff helpful, dog friendly pods with dog treats on arrival, our pod had a good view into the fells, we were blessed with a quiet week which made it even better….

It's disheartened me that I am having to leave such a poor review however it is warranted. Had I paid anymore than what I had I would have requested a refund. My partner and my two children stayed in the staveley 3 bedroom caravan. Upon arrival at night it did seem very clean and we were very impressed. However, and I want to say I'm not one of these people who simply moan but this van does require a deep clean. The net drapes have black damp mould on them, marks on the wall, the two seater had Lego pieces underneath it and hasn't been moved or cleaned in a long while. The window on the outside was caked in filth and the decking had weeds growing out of it. Had this been the only issue fair enough but it is not. The shower leaks to the point it nearly flooded the bathroom one day and then we saw that it had leaked under and into the main bedroom cupboard and then soaking the carpet around the cupboard. The toilet in the ensuite also has a leak. The fridge is a massive issue. It does not keep your food cold and this is on max, to the point it concerned me would eating something's be a healthy risk. The oven while yes is a gas and caravan oven cooked things beyond slow. Something that would take 15 mins took nearly 50 and you could only cook one thing at a time. Also the caravan site is beside a very busy dual carriageway so this definitely was an issue and kept us awake from the early hours. I really liked the site initially however, I cannot say I would return due to these issues. I have seen a previous review mentioning similar issues but not naming the van so I can only assume this is the same one as it does appear attempts were made to seal and hide the leaks etc but with the quick turn around there is no chance these problems will have been rectified before another family entered later that day after we left. All in all, as we paid 20 pounds per person per night it is what it is, however, if you're staying I'm stavely van later this summer make sure these problems are rectified before you arrive.

Excellent location at the bottom of Lake Windermere, easy to travel to other areas and some for hiking and the local pubs had delicious food. The site itself is beautiful and the caravan we stayed in had everything you could possibly need.

Shame about the weather, but it is the Lakes! Van was good value for money. Very tidy. Could have done with a lamp in the lounge. Staff were friendly when they were around. Site could do with a general tidy up. Had a relaxing time.

We had a lovely stay here, Maureen was so helpful when booking as we needed two accommodations near to each other. My parents stayed in the courage and I'd say it's definitely worth paying a little more to stay there, it was fab. But the caravan we were in was also great, really nice quality. Check in was really easy, email comms made everything so smooth. There is a small children's area, ideally we'd have loved more activities/ facilities for my son but he was happy on the swings and solving the puzzles, appreciate this is designed to be a quiet site which serves as a great base for Windermere. The Gregg's around the corner came in handy for quick eats, I don't to Windermere town centre in around 20 mins and Brockhole is about 25 mins. We also went to the steam railway, so close by and we walked up Gummers hill which is a pretty easy if rocky climb to get peripheral views of Windermere and the surrounding areas.

Great trip! Site lovely. We usually stay somewhere with a bar/clubhouse but it was a nice change to be on a lovely peaceful site. Amazing clear skys with little light pollution. Caravan immaculate. The main bedroom was big enough for us to fit our travel cot down the side of the bed which was great.

We had a good visit with the autumn promotion price. The caravan was nearly new and very clean and well equipped. Good location for South Lakes. Communications were good. The petrol station store next door was very useful.
