Don't normally make comments where I've been but really wanted to tell everybody about our little find... We have just spent a week in the Lake District staying in Ambleside and after doing lots of walking and canoeing, eating good food is very important to myself and my wife! Having spent the day on Ullswater, we were driving back to...

David C, thank you for your rather amazing review and for booking a room to come back and see us in July. We are very happy that you loved the place and believe us not a day goes by that we don't appreciate what a fantastic magical place that Patterdale and the whole Ullswater Valley really is, Safe travels and...

On the C2C walk we thought this would be a good choice for our evening meal. The first pint had to be changed as it was cloudy and at the end of the barrel. When we ordered our food we were warned that it may take an hour as the kitchen was very busy. In the event it took an...

Thank you for rating our food as excellent and apologies for the delay, although we do tell everyone at the time of ordering how busy we are, perhaps there had been a breakdown in communication somewhere. As for getting our " act together " neither of us can sing or dance and X Factor auditions are never held in the...

Hi Paul, thank you for the review it's very much appreciated. You are quite correct that we can sometimes get incredibly busy and there is sometimes a lengthy delay on food, however we are really pleased it was worth the wait, Best wishes Ashley & Andy

Stopped at The White lion for drinks and quick bite mid-walk. It was very busy (Easter weekend) so quite a wait for food, which wasn't really a problem but the chips were not good and one person's was not served. When we asked for them, the reply was not helpful. However, two bowls of chips were served (one complementary) and...

Sometimes when I read the reviews we are left I really do despair. Once upon a time when I was a little boy my parents said to me " If you have nothing positive to say then say nothing at all. " That sort of stuck with me and I must say that if you waited until you got home...

Fabulous home cooked food, lovely friendly pub in one of the best locations in the Lakes, couldn't recommend it more! Our children were made welcome and absolutely loved the food! A pub that welcomes dogs, kids, muddy boots, etc

Just returned from a long weekend stay in sunny Patterdale, we ate at the White Lion Inn all three nights, lovely traditional lakes pub with loads of atmosphere and very friendly staff, food was just what we needed after a days walking. Our four legged companion was made very welcome and given treats and water on arrival. Considering how busy...

Hi there Hendybobs, a great review, thank you and we agree that our staff are rather fabulous. I think National Service or Pub work should be compulsory lol so that joe-public appreciate how difficult it can be. Best wishes, safe travels, Ashley & Andy

The room was nice and comfortable had everything we needed. Perfect base for a walking weekend away. Was also nice to sit and have a drink with the owners Andy and Ashley....

Six of us were walking the Coast 2 Coast and stayed here one night. The rooms were OK, but rather cramped. The food was stodgy for my taste, although portions were more than ample. Took 20-30 mins to be served. The Beetroot, Squash and Cheese burger tasted deep fried, didn't seem to have any beetroot in it. Poppadoms greasy. So...

DarkMaidofPerth, so dark in fact that you decided to hide in the darkness behind your made up name name hidden behind your laptop. Firstly before reviewing on troll advisor why not say something at the time and we might even go out on a limb and if your complaint is legitimate try to actually put it right. As for the...

Visited the White Lion after a day out hiking in the Lake District mountains. Steak and ale pie and a few pints of local beer were just what this weary hungry hiker needed. Will definitely come again.
