The staff were friendly and helpful. We ran the spa bath and went to put the TV on in the bathroom and it didn't work.I rang reception and the lady said she would come up to look.20 minutes later when the bath was getting cold I rang again and the lady came up,explaining she was waiting for responses on the works WhatsApp group. She read a message out which a staff member had told us to try switching it on ! Not helpful ,no need for sarcasm and we didn't really need to know they had said that. The receptionist said she didn't have a clue but she knew the TV had been reported not working previously. This really annoyed me ,that it was a known fault and not fixed. The lady then went. When we went down for dinner the receptionist had said the maintenance man had knocked on our room and we had told him it was fixed. This was a total lie.We hadn't heard or spoke to a maintenance man.We were brought out canapies at the start of our meal.I noticed mine were exactly the same as my husbands and asked if his were gluten free as he has a gluten intolerance, that the hotel were aware of.The staff then took them away ,and told us she is great at her job if we need a wedding booked and laughed. We had our starter then when our dishes were cleared they brought us bread as they had forgot to bring it with the starter the waitress told us.My husband actually waited for his gluten free bread until his main was brought. The hotel us lovely and the views from our room were fab.The bathroom wasn't very clean, there was alot of hair on the bath and floor.Other than this the bedroom was clean.I would stay again as our last stay was good, but there was a few issues this time that knocked the shine off my birthday treat unfortunately.I would of rated my stay at a 3.5 if I had the option.I did complain at check out and the man on reception said he would pass on my comments, but didn't seem to fussed.

Went for an afternoon tea on Sunday. Lovely location near to Windermere, and the afternoon tea was delicious with a range of sandwiches, savouries and cakes. Very enjoyable experience with very friendly service, would thoroughly recommend.

We had our wedding at Broadoaks on the 29th January 2024 and despite the rainy weather we had an absolutely fantastic time! We had the best day we could have possibly imagined and it was mostly all down to the staff at Broadoaks. No request was too much trouble and this didn't go unnoticed by ours guests too! So many lovely comments from our guests made regarding staff and the hotel in general. It confirmed to me that we had 100% made the right choice choosing Broadoaks for our special day. The grounds of the hotel are so beautiful with a real country feel which are wonderful for photos. As you walk through the main door to the hotel you really feel a warm, homely sense and it instantly gives you a sense of calm. The wood paneling and old fashioned furnishings give a romantic feel and were certainly a talking point among guests. Personally, I think the best thing about Broadoaks is the Orangery. You walk in, to notice the floor to ceiling windows and glass roof. Although it isn't a large room, it feels open, but cozy. With lots of light, even on a cold rainy afternoon in January. This was the room we chose to have our ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening party in. The turnaround of the Orangery each time was completely un-noticeable whilst we and our guests were enjoying the delights of the Bar & Music Room. Each bedroom at the hotel has its own individual charm, no two rooms are the same. Some were bigger than others and some have jetted spa baths which our guests loved. We didn't have any guests that didn't love their room during their stay, and they also loved the full English breakfast buffet in the morning. The first thing that attracted me to Broadoaks was the fact that they have an exclusive package of the whole hotel and all the rooms for your exclusive use, meaning that all of the rooms whether you sell or give them to your guests are yours to do as you wish and cannot be sold to anyone else. We loved this idea as we have been to weddings before where there are other people unknown to you, walking around on your day. Although there are other lovely hotels in the area that offer this too, most are too large with too many rooms to make it affordable if you don't have enough people to fill them. Broadoaks has just the right amount. We want to thank everyone at Broadoaks involved in the planning and fulfillment of our special day, especially Mel & Dan who both went above and beyond our expectations. Thank you so much 🤍

My partner took me for a night at Broadoaks to celebrate my birthday where we stayed in the Boudoir suite. The pros were the hotel is lovely and the staff were very friendly, in particular Jazmin was exceptionally nice to us. Most of the food was nice as well. I must say the staff were all very kind to our dog as well and gave her lots of attention. The downsides for us were the room was not clean in places, the cakes in the afternoon tea were not very nice and one tasted strongly of Basil! (The rest of the afternoon tea was lovely). Finally we ordered the wine pairings but for the main we didn't receive the wines so eventually asked. Usually I wouldn't be bothered but when you've ordered wine to go with a meal and you've ate most of it.... Overall I would say Broadoaks is a great hotel and I would happily stay there again but there's definitely room for improvement.

My husband (to be, as he was then) arrived with all the table decorations that I had made. Mel asked him to drive to the back door and he was helped by staff to get everything out of the car which was great. The day went really smoothly despite the ‘goddamn’ awful rain we had booked on a beautiful crisp sunny Jan day just under a year before ;-) When I arrived Mel came to greet me in the rain and helped me into the beautiful Walnut room to get changed with the bridesmaids so we didn’t have to traipse across from The Boudoir in the rain. Great advice from Mel to keep this as one of our available rooms…. We had about an hour to get ready when we arrived but as I’d come from Chorley with hair and makeup done there was no stress at all/time pressure as all I had to do was pop the dress on. As I entered the ceremony room (we had the semi circle layout suggested by Mel - I was dubious about this at first but went with it and this was a perfect choice as we then had a view over the fell side) I noticed how it had been laid out beautifully with our decs by the Broadoaks staff, with candles lit and it had a lovely ambience. Due to the time of year and because they’d had Christmas and New Year Celebrations Broadoaks had left the curtain lights up which made the room look extra lovely. After the ceremony we squashed 33 guests into the Music Room for a group photo as we would probably have been swept away by the beautiful Lake District weather should we have ventured outside! The canapés looked great but unfortunately we didn’t get to sample them all as they were brought out when photos were being done. The groom and myself did brave the elements for a few outside photos. I came in bedraggled and with a muddy dress but that was because we ventured down to the outside cermenony venue over their rockery! Did it stop my smile? Did it heck! I sneaked into the Wedding Breakfast room to see if it had been laid out nicely with all the arrangements that I’d made and I was awestruck. It looked as beautiful as I’d hoped for, especially when the waiter lit the candles when I asked him to!!!! The food was really delicious, great quality and plentiful (something that Broadoaks should show off with more - unlike mediocre food we had at Cragwood on a very disappointing minimoon - for many reasons, that we had for a couple of days afterwards). The only slight niggle we had with the meal is that tea and coffee are extra, something we felt should really be included in the package when paying for the 4 course meal option). We didn’t get our sparklers that were included in the package but I guess they wouldn’t have lit outside in the rain. Anyway… the rooms were beautiful but you’d know that if you book this venue as they will show you around several of them first. The breakfast was of high quality, beautiful half flat mushroom, poached eggs perfectly cooked, great quality sausage - no plain fatty porky here, lovely bacon, thick hand cut toast from ‘proper’ bread and I actually thought, ‘yep, we made the right choice here’….. all our guests were still smiling, happy and had noted how comfy the beds were. To summarise - we had an amazing day, the place looked lovely with the Christmas decs still up, lights twinkled, the wine flowed, staff were friendly and hardworking. We couldn’t have asked for a better day :-))

Visited Broadoaks for my husband's birthday in early December. From the minute you arrive they make you feel so welcome the room was lovely on the ground floor as requested. Drinks in the bar are very reasonable priced . The service is second to none, the food and drinks in the restaurant are amazing the Breakfast the day after was lovely especially the bacon and as much toast and coffee and tea as you can eat. We will be visiting again in February for another birthday celebration. Well do e Broadoaks and all the team .

We visited for 2 nights at the end of November for our wedding. It was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The atmosphere was so relaxed, it was more like staying at someone’s house rather than a hotel. The food was really on point and more than enough to go around (we were all stuffed). We have had loads of comments on how the lasagna the night before was the best they have ever had!! The staff are the real stars of the show!!! Dan, Viki and Mel all went above and beyond and catered to all our requests. The wedding day itself was spot on even down to the weather!!! We had a bit of an unconventional wedding breakfast with a murder mystery production during it. Broadoaks had never done this before but were more than willing to make it work and it went down a storm! We cannot wait to come back to visit soon.

We got married at Broadoaks on Saturday 2nd December 2023 and what a memorable day it was! I had wished for it to snow on our wedding day, but I couldn’t have ever predicted the amount of snow we would have! As expected, the snow meant there were a couple of disruptions to our day. The registrars were late (but they did make it!), our band didn’t make it, only one of our evening guests got there (they hiked up the hill in the snow!), and makeshift beds had to be set up in the music room because those who weren’t staying at Broadoaks couldn’t get back to their hotels. But Broadoaks made our day so perfect! Nothing was too much for the staff, who were also stranded there! We arrived on Friday 1st December, and our wedding coordinator, Jo, was there to greet us and help us settle in. We had arranged for an afternoon tea with family, and Broadoaks put on a wonderful array of food. We had some special dietary requirements (vegan & gluten-free guests) and Broadoaks had a fantastic selection that catered for them. There was so much food, we had a lot of it boxed up for later. In the evening, we had a meal with many of the guests that were coming to our wedding. We had the Beef Bourguignon for the main and ice cream for dessert – both of which were delicious. Again, all guests were catered for, and they even served the Bourguignon without mushrooms (a request from my husband). Our guests had the rest of the evening to relax and have some drinks in the music room, whilst my mum, my sister, and I went to relax in The Retreat. The Retreat was a paradise! There is an indoor and an outdoor spa bath (this is actually better than a hot tub as you don’t have to wait for it to heat up). I slept in the main bedroom and the bed was a super king and VERY comfortable. All guests had robes and slippers and there were more than enough towels. On the morning of our wedding, the snow began and was getting deeper. Jo ensured that everything was communicated to the bridal party in the retreat and brought a pair of wellies (luckily that a guest had) to me to wear up to the main house. Jo ensured that the ceremony, drinks, and wedding breakfast went smoothly. Jo and the Team did such an amazing job at arranging the rooms exactly as we wanted! The wedding breakfast food was outstanding! We went for Menu 3, meaning that guests got a choice of meals. To start, I had the scallops and my husband had the parfait. We both had lamb for the main and then I had apple and blackberry crumble for dessert, whereas my husband had the chocolate pot. Broadoaks are very generous with the portion sizes (I couldn’t eat all mine) and the food was the same quality as you get from dining in their Oaks restaurant (not as a guest at a wedding). It was simply delicious! When it came to the evening reception, the snow was so heavy that the band was unable to come, along with most of our evening guests. Broadoaks allowed us to use their PA system for our entertainment and then made arrangements to set up the music room and other beds (e.g. in the retreat and garden suites) so that those who were unable to get to their hotels had somewhere to sleep. The following day, only a continental breakfast was served as the chef was unable to make it because of the snow. A few of our guests were unable to make it to their next destination as the snow was so deep, and these guests stayed an extra night at Broadoaks. Broadoaks gave us afternoon tea (they brought this to my husband and me in the retreat) and then made us all pizzas and chips in the evening (very nice and SO much food). My husband and I had already arranged to stay an extra two nights after the wedding and we are so glad that we did. Broadoaks really did make us feel special and it was as if nothing was too much! A special mention to the staff who worked so hard all weekend. Firstly, to Jo, our wedding coordinator. Aside from the main things that you expect from a coordinator (e.g. ensuring the ceremony goes to plan, tables are set up right), we really felt that Jo went the extra mile! At one point, she was underneath my dress helping my mum to tie the bustle! For a day that could have been stressful, Jo certainly made everything feel calm. We would also like to say a big thank you to Isabelle, who was Jo’s right-hand lady on the day and both Jo and Isabelle had to stay the night on a camp bed because they couldn’t get home! The waiting staff, bar staff, and front desk staff were also fantastic! Unfortunately, we can’t remember everyone’s name but we saw a lot of Zack, Ash, Michelle, and Jim and they were all so friendly and worked so hard. The groundsmen also worked tirelessly to get everyone’s car out of the snow, even towing cars and helping some of the more nervous drivers navigate their way home. Our wedding at Broadoaks really was the perfect day and we are so grateful to the team there for making it so special!

I never bother writing reviews but after staying at Broadoaks last week I felt compelled to do so. Where do you start with such a wonderful place , this will have been our eighth or ninth visit and every single time the standard never drops from the stunning setting to the warm professional welcome and service from all the staff members it makes the start to your stay special and that is before you see the rooms or sample the food. Every time we have stayed we have had cream teas that are lovely and you can upgrade to afternoon tea but be warned it is fantastic and you may need to book a late slot for your evening meal. The standard of service and the quality of the food is stunning, everything on the menu is divine , the cheese board is my wife’s favourite and then breakfast the next morning is one of the tastiest I have ever had. The rooms that we have been lucky enough to stay in are all beautiful with loads of extra special little touches that make all the difference to your stay especially if like us you have a busy work schedule and can only grab the odd day here and there one night here feels like a really special treat. Then the bathrooms , we have stayed in numerous rooms , all beautiful but always try to get Pine if it is available , you will not see another bath like it , it is more like a swimming pool but oh so relaxing you will never want to get out. To summarise don’t think about booking this hotel just do it , you will not regret it , everything is perfect from the setting to the staff , the rooms and the amazing food . We can not wait to return as soon as possible next year for another fantastic stay. See you all soon and thank you. James and Amanda Keaveny

Where to start!!! It’s hard to put into words how amazing this place is but I will really try!!! Firstly the staff, from our first appointment with little Jo, we knew this has to be the place we got married. From the first meeting we felt so comfortable with her, she was sweet and friendly and very informative. Nothing was made to feel like an inconvenience when it came to questions we had. That held up through the 2 and a half years we worked with them. From our appointment calls to me just needing someone to rant to about things that stressed me out she was there and for that I am forever grateful, you ended up fast become a friend as well as our wedding coordinator. You are amazing little Jo!!! Between her and the wonderful Mel we always had someone willing to help us with what ever we needed!! Due to their attention to everything we had told them we had a wedding better than anything I could have dreamed off!!! The night time staff held up the amazing works too so a massive thank you to Dan, Ash and Jasmine you were all incredible!!we also can’t forgot the amazing chefs on that night, our wedding breakfast and the evening food was unbelievable, a massive thank you to Damien and Claude!! What you can do with food is just art!! The venue itself is like something from a fairytale!!! We fell in love the first time we saw it, we referred to it as a little hidden gem because none of our families had heard of it before but safe to say they all want to go back as soon as possible!! The couldn’t believe how amazing everything was from the rooms, to the stunning grounds to the little details all over. They finally understood why we choose to get married so far from home. It’s just magically it’s impossible not to fall in love with it!! So I know I said It was hard to put into words, well I clearly found them and couldn’t stop once I started!! There is just too much to love about this wonderful place and all the amazing people who work there!!! Thank you all so much
