Great find during a bike ride. Lunch was a well made sausage sandwich and a very nice Ploughmans, supported by some sensational beers. Lunch was finished off with a very informative Brewery tour before we trundled off on our way. Thank you!

Drove past on my way to Wastwater, and noted that it was the CAMRA West Cumbria Pub of The Year 2016, so decided to check it out in the evening. They had a good range of beer available, I tried several on draft, but noted they had bottles of their other brews available at the bar. All the beer I...

We visited at the end of a few days in the Lake District. The area is remote, and if you want brick and mortar accommodation there isn't much choice. I'd happily return to the Strands. The staff make you feel very welcome and both breakfast and pub meals are to a good standard. The rooms are a little dated and...

We arrived on Sunday lunchtime for a two night stay. The pub was very welcoming and the staff are great. A fantastic range of real ales brewed in the brewery in the car park. We are Sunday lunch, three course on the Sunday special and the food is excellent, fresh and very well cooked. Sunday night was quiz night and...

Don't expect deep expensive carpet and a marble floor reception area and someone to take your bags to your room in a mirrored lift. If you want a great, reasonably priced B&B with excellent food, great beer and a relaxed atmosphere, this will be perfect. Just great as base for a few days of walking, hiking and photography in one...

After a good walk we came across this lovely pub dog friendly too. An excellent array of craft beers brewed on-site in the micro brewery - even given a sample to try to aid my choice. So enjoyed a lovely pint in the beer garden We would certainly try the menu on our next visit

My wife and I stayed at a nearby B and B and had two fantastic meals at the Strands. There was a great choice of starters / mains and puds, the service was very efficient, polite and friendly, and we will certainly visit again when next in the area. I particularly liked the selection of ales (all from their own...

Stayed here for five days of walking. All ideal for purpose, a busy place with good reason. An extensive and changing menu, good full breakfast, pack lunches available. The big plus is the brewery in the back of the premises, six good and varying ales on all of the time, ale drinkers paradise. Friendly staff and all very efficiently run....

We were camping in Nether Wasdale and received a warm welcome at the Strands on a very rainy night. The real ale was great and the food tasty and well presented. Camping with two kids aged 11 and 8 years and they provided a lovely children's menu. Would definitely go here again
