After an 8 mile walk which I am sure seemed more like 10! we arrived at 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon somewhat wet and cold with the light fading fast. The staff could not have made us more welcome as 6 of us stripped off our wet waterproofs and took a pew not far from the roaring log fire. All of...

I arrived with Molly the Collie after a 12 mile walk and we were made very welcome. As is usually the case, someone else was sat in the best seats, right in front of the fire! However the whole place was warm and the food menu is basic, but this ain't a city centre location. The Steak Pie was great...

The menu isn't large but sufficient. It is basic - chips, roasts or new potatoes & all meals, it seemed served with one veg - peas. But, I had to give this 5 stars because the homemade steak pie was simply delicious. Chunks of tender beef, no fat at all, fab meaty gravy & the best pastry I've had in...

My wife and I owned the Moorcock Inn from 1986 to 1989. We have called in for a drink on a couple of occasions since. While researching my family tree recently we discovered that one of my ancestors was actually the Inn keeper at the Moorcock in 1886. That must have triggered our old memorises of the Moorcock because we...

While on a tour of the UK, we stayed one night at The morecock inn . The room was very compact. So much so, that there was barely room walk around the bed without bumping your knees on the bed, let alone unpack our suitcase. That said, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom (shower) was very usable, although there...

Me, my husband 2 children and our dog stayed at the moorcock inn for 3 nights last week. It was a truly amazing place in a lovely peaceful location with lots of walks with waterfalls just outside the door. They were so good with the kids and made us feel at home. The Inn has a remote and lovely location although it's a chore having to drive to the nearest town, Hawes, if your needs demand it. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is average pub grub (like most hotels in this area with uncannily similar menus!) but hearty and OK. Service very good. BUT, the property itself (two knocked together...
