Stopped for lunch after a walk to acutely spout what a little gem this place is! Really old fashioned inside and a nice view from the conservatory. Food was lovely I had a BLT and chips with gravy. All of it delicious and fresh. They don't serve alcohol but have an extensive unusual selection of soft drinks. Thoroughly enjoyed it...

Having lived in the area for nearly 5 years , this was our first visit and it wont be the last. This Inn is amazing, quaint, hospitable and so so interesting, my Dad can't wait to visit again and he lives in Gateshead. The food was good and the waitress very friendly. It is a temperance inn so no alcohol...

It is always special to stay in a "house" with a very interesting history and find ourselves in a quiet, beautiful location within a few miles of the busy M6 - what a contrast! The owner was very hospitable, the breakfast delicious and it was a great pleasure to watch the birds and red squirrel within a few metres of...

We stayed here for the weekend and had dinner on both nights. Our room was comfortable, very clean and quintessentially English making for some good restful sleep. Quintessential English charm at its best. A delightful and tasteful place to eat homemade cakes whilst soaking in the breath taking views of Cautley Spout and the hills beyond. Well worth the effort to get to this wee out of the way spot.

Do not be put off by the word temperance: the first thing the waitress will ask you if if you want glasses, for BYOB is perfectly admissible. The devout lady who gave the property to the National Trust merely did not want it to degenerate into a pub. So here are pub meals without a bar, and the ambiance is...

We stayed for dinner (rabbit pie and a veggie lasagne). Prior to our meal we sat in the parlour where there were comfortable armchairs and a magnificent fire. We loved the rosehip cordial and the nettle cordial. The waitress was very knowledgeable about the meals. Both meals were excellent. The atmosphere is very friendly and relaxed and we chatted away...

In the North Yorkshire National Park between Kirby Stephen and Sedbergh this cosy cafe/restaurant nestles beside the road under the howgills. Step into the lounge and sit beside the fire range. Watch your head if over 6ft as the ceilings are low! Homemade cakes and fare, hearty and delicious. Had rabbit pie with a lovely suet crust, followed by Dulverton...
