Detailed Reviews
Just arrived home from a 3 night break at Crake Valley Holiday Park. We stayed in Bluebird Lodge 2. Got to say it was absolutely fantastic. Spotlessly clean. Very spacious lodge.. Two lovely bedrooms, the double was ensuite. The heating worked great, even had heated towel rails, and the showers were nice and powerful and hot. The site was perfectly located on the edge of Lake Coniston. Was really well located for a holiday in the Lakes. The hot tub was fantastic. It was great sitting there on a cold January night. We even saw a shooting star! Generally the whole site was very well maintained and we had a great holiday there. Would love to return again. If the owners are reading this our only suggestion would be would be to provide champagne flutes (as you can't really do a hot tub without fizz) and also a cheese grater! We made a lasagne while we were there and could really have done with one! To be fair I'm sure the owner would have arranged this for us if we had asked but we didn't. Highly recommend Crake Valley Holiday Park!

We had a wonderful stay in the Acorn Retreat for 5 days over Xmas. The setting of the lodge is perfect so private as its set away from the main park. It's a gentle stroll to Coniston lakes shore line.
Doing Xmas Dinner in the kitchen was no probs at all, we were even left a turkey tray and foil, the dishwasher was a godsend and had all the kitchen utensils we needed. We took our own little Xmas tree and a few decs to make it feel xmasy.
We had a few lovely walks near the park with the dog and the hot tub was the icing on the xmas cake. We hope to come back very soon.
Could do with a slightly bigger sofa in the lounge maybe a 3 and a 2 as a family of 4 with a tall teenager we did struggle to lounge on them but I suppose in the summer months you would be out on the decking using the table and chairs there.
Thankyou Crake Valley your lodge and park is wonderful.

I booked this through Hoseasons after viewing photos and seeing the videos. It looked so relaxing and peaceful for a birthday getaway. On arrival we saw the retreat that was meant to be in its own private setting had 2 yurts within 20 metres of us with another due to be placed. Entering the lodge all I could smell was bleach 😩. It all looked very tired and unloved and in need of refurbishment. It wasn't cosy or welcoming at all. There wasn't even a rug on the floor or pictures on the wall. There was nowhere to put groceries or toiletries. No shelves in bathrooms and only 1 bedside cabinet. Food on handle of dishwasher and dried egg in a jug. All this extra covid cleaning they are supposed to do is an absolute joke and they take a whole day from your booking saying your not allowed in before 4pm and out by 9.30 on the departure date.
Outside was even worse. The path up the side to the "secluded" hot tub ares was just mud. There was broken rubble everywhere (see photos) and 2 fire pits from previous tenants still there. There were burn holes on the plastic decking where others had had a BBQ all melted. Definitely not what we expected. We had booked for a week but departed the on the 1st morning.

Our first impressions of the Tarn How’s lodge were good however this quickly changed as we began to unpack.
Firstly, there were no empty cupboards to put our food in (except for under the sink!) and the door to the freezer compartment was broken and fell of when closing the fridge door.
The area to sit and dine is also in the kitchen however a large and unnecessary (as there is another one) wine rack occupies the counter space where 1 person needs to put their plate so we had to move it every time we ate.
The bathroom looks great however the open shower means that even when taking the utmost care, the floor floods and the underfloor heating has to be cranked up to try and dry it out. This wasn’t ideal as it was warm during our stay and the last thing we needed was the heating on.
You are also only provided with 1 bath towel each and between the tiny towel rail (there are no radiators in the lodge) and the fact you also have a hot tub to use, this really isn’t sufficient.
The bedroom again, looks lovely however the mattress is the thinnest I have ever slept on and when you sit down, you can immediately feel the boards underneath. It also doesn’t come up to the height of the bed frame so each night we hit off the wooden frame if we turned.
A few other things also spoiled our stay…Check in and out is completely contactless and done remotely. We found this impersonal.
The electricity went off in the kitchen on Sunday. Not a huge issue and we phoned to ask where the fuse box was but we were then directed to a cupboard in the kitchen where the door doesn’t open fully because of the window blind so when you try and get into the fuses, you have to shove your fingers in blindly to push the fuse back up as the cover can’t open and you can’t see inside!
There are numerous bulbs out in the living room.
And finally, the hot tub is a welcome addition however it was not maintained over the course of our stay which we found unacceptable. The lights also don’t work which added to a feeing of a lack of overall care for the property.
It was clear from our stay that the owners have never actually tried to spend a night in the lodge and use the facilities, I would certainly recommend that they give it a try as I am sure they would make improvements as a result.

We stayed in a Bluebird Lodge & it was beautifully presented with things like tea towel, washing up liquid, sponges, tea and coffee all included, plus some little shower gels, and hand washed etc.
The park is really quiet which is perfect. Our lodge had a Hot Tub which was Ideal after a long day of hiking the fells.
Location is very good, a stone throw to Lake Coniston, and not far from Windemere.
Really loved our stay here - definitely book - you won't be disappointed!

This was our first time to Crake Valley and we were really impressed. The lodge was very clean upon arrival, lots of little features that mean a lot such as teabags, coffee sachets, sugar, milk, biscuits and hot chocolates, toiletries in the bathroom with a few toilet rolls, washing up liquid and sponge and a tea towel. Plenty of towels provided. The hot tub was a lovely temperature and very clean. Plenty of cups, utensils etc. hooks on the bathroom door for towels and even one outside for your towels when using the hot tub which not all hot tub holiday providers think of!
We stayed in March in the Woodland Retreat Plus lodge 19 and the heating is electric storage type heaters which I did worry it might get a little cold but it didn’t, the temperature was perfect the whole time we were there.
I only spoke to the staff once as I was running late and had a Tesco order due to arrive and the owners were very helpful and arranged for their staff member to keep an eye out and go to our lodge when they arrived. I also needed one of the single beds removing in order to fit the travel cot in and the owner was happy for us to remove it and store it in the laundry room.
The only bits of constructive feedback I can give are there are no curtains in the twin bedroom meaning when the sun came up the bedroom was very bright which my boys are not used to. The porch lights don’t go off which lights up the hot tub area too bright and makes it hard to star gaze also some of the doors were creaky with noisy door handles making it hard to move around quietly when the little one were in bed. Also the option of hiring a bath robe with disposable slippers would be a good idea. Other than that we had a great time and will definitely be returning.

Without a doubt, the lodge was truly lovely. The company, however, fail to read the visitor book and the reviews and therefore nothing is improved: the steps up to the lodge are extremely dangerous as the shale needs to be made more safe. There is no cooking spatula; branches scrape the lodge roof when windy; there is a broken blind in kitchen - all not attended to, despite many complaints. The crockery was poor with no matching sets. There were insufficient glasses (a broken wine glass left in cupboard), if four people stay, there is insufficient crockery. There is a tea pot but no milk jug. The lodge needs a fan as the upstairs bedroom is very hot. We also felt that the balcony, table and chairs also needed to be cleaned prior to our arrival. We arrived to sweep up leaves and clean the table and chairs - unacceptable when paying luxury prices. Let us hope the company read and take on board these comments and rectify the problems.

Very hard to put into words how lovely this holiday park is. It is extremely relaxing, quiet and just what was needed.
We had an issue with the hot water and Karina arranged an engineer to come out to us within the hour- thank you!!!
The lodge itself was perfect, so cosy and of course the hot tub made it after a long day of walking or climbing.
The location was ideal, 15 mins from Coniston so not too far away from shops, pubs etc. Yet, set far enough away you can disassociate from busy life.
We will definitely be returning and recommending.
Thank you guys ❤️

There is a microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge in the yurt. Outside is afire pit with griddle that can be used as a bbq you would need to bring your own charcoal
To answer my own question in case it’s helpful… yes to hairdryer but only one tv in living room area although there was an aerial point in master bedroom for a tv but no tv
