Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a gem of a hotel. Where to start? Staff are excellent, rooms are superb and the food is amazing. I could go on but we are already looking at dates to revisit which says it all. Thank you everyone.

We first stayed here ten years ago and rated it then as very good . Stayed for three nights this November and can honestly say that the standards are even higher . Probably the nicest hotel staff we’ve ever encountered and we have travelled all over the world . Hotel has been updated and is immaculately maintained . Very comfortable bedrooms and superb food and service . Slight downside is the somewhat quirky multi level layout so 36 steps to our high level bedroom ! We can forgive that and will ask for a lower room next time we stay . Hotel may be rated as three star due to lack of lifts etc but decor ,comfort , setting and service are five star. We certainly won’t be leaving it another ten years before we return.

Lovely birthday meal with friends. Great service, fabulous food and lovely surroundings. The best bit, I got my own vegetarian menu with multiple choices for every course. Just fantastic, really can't praise the food or the staff enough. It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for with pretty generous portions.

We have just spent 4 lovely nights at Lyzzick Hall . We had a pleasnt room , not large but perfectly OK and in excellent condition. In fact the entire hotel is immaculate and very well kept. The food is imaginative and very well presented and the views from the dining room are superb. However it was the staff who made our break so enjoyable. They were ALL very professional , efficient and friendly and amongst the best we have met in the many hotels we have stayed in. A lovely base for touring the Lakes and wewill certainly return.

Our 5th year visiting at least once per year. Yet again, we had the most amazing evening. The food was absolutely stunning. Every element on the plate is there for a reason. The chefs clearly understand quality ingredients and showcase the very best produce in creative and innovative ways. The staff are a delight and we look forward to seeing the familiar faces each visit. We feel so looked after from the moment we arrive. We simply cannot recommend this place highly enough. Thanks for everything, Kate and Peter

Brilliant views/location, superb wine list, food to die for, the friendliest staff, cleanest rooms. I can't write enough in praise of our couple of days here. Family run and they tick all of the right boxes. They couldn't do enough for us. Treat yourself to a little slice of heaven. I wish I'd booked a few more days. Just sit and absorb the views and then the quality of the food. I don't have a negative thing to say about this place. I wonder what the views will be like in the winter with snow on the mountains. I might just give it a go..

RESTAURANT ONLY REVIEW. My friend and I visited the Lyzzick Hall Hotel for lunch, having pre-booked a table as required. It was FANTASTIC. Fine Dining at affordable prices, The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We started off with coffee in the lounge as we had arrived early. We then had our order taken and were shown to our seats when everything was ready. FABULOUS VIEWS from the lounge, wherever you sit. The food was OUTSTANDING. We had a basked of delicious homemade bread, which was so delicious. My friend simply had the Cumbrian Rarebit on sourdough toast with tomato salad and a side of thick cut triple cooked chips (proper chips) and I had the Panko Breaded Shetland Hake Fillet, Crushed Garden Peas, Triple Cooked Chips, Homemade Tartare Sauce - it was delicious. We finished the meal with my friend Tarta de Santiago. (Spanish Almond & Lemon Cake), Chantilly Cream, Homemade Lemon Curd - I had Demerara Glazed Vanilla & Mascarpone Crème Brulée with a Confit of Blackberries and Greengage Gel. FINE DINING AT AFFORDABLE PRICES. We then walked around the grounds before we drove home. AN EXCELLENT VISIT - WE WILL BE BACK. I would love to stay here some time too as it is in such a great location, so peaceful and stunning views of the Lakeland Fells HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This was a five star hotel. The rooms were beautiful and spotless, the restaurant on site was amazing with beautiful views, the location was perfect. All but one hostess was amazing. Dennis in particular was friendly and helpful. The one hostess needs to find a career more appropriate for her sour personality. You can’t miss her. She is a waitress. Anyway, our room view was beautiful, and priced reasonably for the quality provided. The maids cleaned it nightly. Having tea or wine nightly in the lounge was fun. Their fish and chips were amazing. As was their daily breakfasts.

We were travelling back home and decided to stay one extra night on the way. We chose to go into the Lakes and then book somewhere while we had lunch. My wife has visited the hotel before but only for lunch and she always says we should visit. Weather was not great so we booked a Superior Kink which was a really nice room and ery clean. Wehad dinner there and the food was really good and enough choice for most people.Great location and great facilities .So much so that when the hotel emailed us with an offer for rooms after New Year we immediately booked as this hotel is somewhere we would come to as often as possible. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a quality hotel in a quality location.

Great location for a great hotel. Staff very helpful and friendly, lovely room looking over the fells, great garden. Bed excellent, room very clean and well presented. Food ok but not as exceptional as expected but service great once you had got used to booking a time for breakfast and dinner. Lovely lounge area.
