We went for lunch, which was totally unexpected. Our lunch was great. And pudding too. And the ale. All very tasty indeed. Dogs allowed too. My only gripe is that the young girl serving my husband wasn't capable of answering questions about ingredients and allergies. I suffer with life threatening allergies and she grunted at my husband and said she...

First Impressions - the drive up to the Inn is along narrow winding roads, the scenery simply spectacular. Views of Wastwater, the screes and the surrounding mountains take your breath away. We were able to park right outside the door and received a very warm, homely welcome. We were given a brief tour of the hotel before being taken to...

What a place! Accessed by some single track roads, which can be tricky. Driving alongside beautiful lakes shadowed by high mountains. When you arrive the Inn is located at the end of the road. It's an old fashioned place, lots of little rooms, benches and tables, log fires, what a reception. The bar serves good hearty food, good real ales,...

This is a unique place. It's a privilege to be able to stay at one of the most sublime places on the planet - Wasdale Head - the home of walking and climbing in the Lakes. Don't expect five star all the time but be very grateful for all the amazing creature comforts that this wonderful and fairly isolated place...

First visit in 1973 and a regular visitor too - one of the highlights of a visit to the Lakes. Have stayed previously but this time just called in for food after a long walk down the valley. Friendly, efficient staff; excellent food and drink. Simple furniture, flag floor and wood burner - what could be better? Reasonably priced and...

Many thanks for your review. We run a dog friendly hotel, as so many walkers have dogs, but I agree entirely that dogs should be on the floor, not eating off seats designed for humans to sit on! We'll do our best to see this doesn;t recur

Came in the summer last time and it got 10/10, but visited more recently and felt like the staff had no time for us and were more interested in putting up the hallowe'en decorations. We also had to send one meal back as the chicken burger was burned to the point of not being edible. It was replaced without a...

Visited this Inn for a warming drink after a lovely walk around Wast Water. At the end of the road and nowhere else to go it is worth visiting whether you're walking or driving. Perfect base if you plan to climb Scafell.

Travellers expecting a boutique hotel will be disappointed. This is a comfortable and clean hotel but one which is in need of a little TLC. Certainly from the outside it looks as though it has seen better days but apparently this is to give it some historical character. Inside it's somewhat better but even here a little more attention to...

The Inn is situated at the head of remote and unspoiled Wasdale, and if you are seeking the superlative this is where you will find it.
