Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A great place in lovely grounds, with excellent staff . We went for afternoon tea as a result of a birthday present. The tea was lovely with choice of endless tea/coffee, sandwiches cakes and many other goodies -far too much to eat in one sitting so a doggie bag was provided. In a word Great!

I would agree with other reviewers that the decor is very nice and that there is a lot of attention to detail with some things e.g. toiletries, sandwich bags. The food is very fresh, portions are generous and it's all very nicely presented. However, when we stayed, the outside light was left on all night and this shone directly into our bedroom making it impossible to sleep. We found out the next day that the switch is in the owner's house. The owner told us that this probably bothered us because we don't live in the city and therefore aren't used to street lights. We've attached photos to make clear what's unclear from the website -'Daffodil' opens directly onto the main play area for the owners' (lively) children. These photos demonstrate the view from the main living area if you rent 'Daffodil'. When we stayed the owner's children stared in the window at us as we ate, had a game of knife throwing nearby, banged noisily on our door at one point and tried to wheel a muddy bike into our apartment. The owner told us these things bothered us because we don't have children of our own. This place is advertised as a peaceful, get away from it all escape. If the idea of a hot tub with view tempts you, be aware that first you have to traverse the busy children's play area (pictured) and a muddy, grassy bank in your robe. The sound proofing is so bad in 'Daffodil' that you can hear conversations in 'Daisy' so clearly you think the people are in your room. Fine if you're renting both, not exactly peaceful if you're not. This was the final straw for us. Though we couldn't fault the inside of the property in terms of what it looked like or the equipment provided, or the friendliness of the hosts before we complained, we were disappointed by the general lack of privacy and unattractive immediate environment. It was frustrating on top of that that the owners were unwilling to see our point of view when we told them, suggesting the issues were of our making. This was after we had put this to them as diplomatically and sensitively as we could, pointing out the things we had enjoyed. This place charges £150 per double per night for B & B (120 if you stay for 2)! When we suggested that our experience, though good in some respects, had not been worth this amount of money we were met with an aggressive response from one of the owners. We were also informed more than once that we were the only people in 3 years to not be completely happy with their stay. It's a shame that some details spoil this place as it has great potential. It's a pity the owners react defensively to complaints rather than take constructive criticism as genuine feedback and not a personal attack. If they also took measures to make the surrounding atmosphere a bit more attractive and peaceful - it's not too much to ask at £150 a pop - this would start to look a bit more like a value for money experience, like, say, The Star at Harome which charges about the same for a much better experience. It also seems that they assume all of their customers will be from outside the local area and will therefore be impressed by things like ingredients from the local supermarket, rather than, say, the local deli or farmer's market - we could have just stocked up on this stuff ourselves on the way. I feel very sorry for my husband who booked this for me as a birthday treat and is now feeling 'mugged'. And another thing, there are lots of derelict farm buildings and a broken down tractor on the approach. Lovely.

My two friends and I stayed for one night in 'Daisy' and had a truly fantastic experience. Teen and David could not have been more accommodating and kind. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed with open arms and made to feel at home. We settled into a bottle of fizz and complementary nibbles which were delicious! The bed was without doubt the comfiest bed I ever slept in. The whole interior has been decorated and designed with to the highest standard. Go easy on dinner as the breakfast served the following morning will fill you up for the whole day! I have already booked my second stay this time staying for two nights. I HIGHLY recommend staying!

Daffodil at Banks Farm, overlooking beautiful fells, is pleasantly close to lakes and peaks, yet rests serenely away from crowds. Beds are lusciously comfortable. The dining area is private and well-stocked with drinks and snacks. We woke each morning to a freshly-baked loaf and pleasingly-laid fruit plate. Teen served a warm farm breakfast later—at our convenience, with friendly conversation. Modern, solid-oak furniture exemplifies that no corners are cut. The layout is clearly well-considered; the apartment has a crisp, fresh feel blended with artfully-exposed beams of the original building built about 1600. Meals were delightful—don’t miss the optional dinner, we enjoyed, particularly, a fine shank of lamb with local vegetables—traditional Cumbrian fare. The sticky-top pudding is eye-poppingly good. Hosts Teena & David Fisher are friendly and accommodating to any schedule. Their three young children are wonderful.

We only had a couple of nights away, but what a B&B! Teena & David Fisher and their young family live on a small holding in the gentle Caldbeck Fells just beyond the usual madding crowd of the Lakes. From the moment we arrived we knew we had come to the right place to recharge our batteries. The accommodation was second to none, with our own private dining area, sumptuous bedroom and enormous shower room. you wont need another morsal till dinner after the Fantastic breakfasts that Teena serves you in the mornings. There are homemade cakes awaiting you and a fridge stuffed with just about everything you could possibly need in way of refreshment.! All you need to take is your toothbrush and clothes, everything else is provided. Just remember to keep it a SECERT,we dont want too many people to know about this "Little Gem", after all we want to be able to book with Teen again!
