The bedrooms are lovely and clean and have everything in you need.
The Bar and Restaurant were also fabulous.
The food was excellent and all the staff from on the reception desk to serving behind the bar and the breakfast were all lovely and friendly and chatty and always smiling.
Would definitely stay there again.
Highly Recommended and Thank You.

We spent one night in a superior room (number 3) to break the journey home after a stay in Scotland. The room seemed to have been completely refurbished very recently, everything smelled new and the standard of finish was excellent. The decor was smart and the quality of the fittings was good. The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed and it had soft pillows which suited me perfectly. The bathroom was a bit small but functional with a very good shower, powerful with lots of hot water. I had booked a table in the restaurant and the food turned out to be excellent, well cooked and tasty. The service also was very good. Breakfast at the Melbreak is superb with a multiple choice of fruit, cereals, pastries etc and an excellent cooked breakfast. No need to go hungry here. Staff were very warm and friendly and we really enjoyed our brief stay here. My only criticism and it is a minor one, is that the outside lights tend to shine through the curtains. I would not let that put me off visiting again though.

Just returned from our second visit to the Melbreak Hotel. Once again we were very pleased with everything. Clean, comfy room, huge walk in shower, good sized comfy bed, The breakfast and evening meals in The Conservatory Restaurant were all really tasty and in these times of trouble, still very reasonably priced and served by pleasant helpful staff. The outstanding item was the Afternoon Tea that we booked for my birthday. It was just the best Afternoon Tea we have ever had. Thanks to all the staff at The Melbreak Hotel for a wonderful stay.

We stayed in room 26, we arrived slightly early but ate & had a drink outside on the patio area which was lovely. We went to our room at around 2pm, there was intermitate hot water so we couldn't shower. When we spoke to the receptionist she said that there wasn't a limit on water & that it would heat up again. The room itself is dated and it felt very used. The bed was ok but rather firm, it is two single beds pushed together with a ridge in the middle. I noticed other reviews saying about a light from the TV shining brightly in the night time, it does.. but we resolved it by unplugging the tv at night. The signal isn't great on the TV but you do get most channels. The cleaners come by every day to make your bed & put out towels which was nice.
The food in the restaurant is lovely, the views are pretty & the main (popular) parts of Lake District are about 20 minutes by car. I will say that the walls are very thin though, you can hear everything from your neighbours next door & room 26 is right by the cleaning cupboard which is quite loud. WD40 on the doors would help a lot I think 😍

Dear Guest Thank you for your review and for the points you have raised. I will certainly look into everything you have mentioned here and address the issues when continuing the refurbishment programme, which we have unfortunately had to delay due to the pandemic and reduced trading levels. So glad you enjoyed the food in the restaurant and got to explore our amazing and beautiful countryside. Kind regards

My husband and I have just spent a week staying at this hotel. We had a superior king room on the second floor of the hotel (please be aware that the rooms are not in the main building of the hotel but across the yard). There is no lift only steps outside to all floors. I asked for a quiet room which I was given (Room 14). The style of the room reminded me of a Premier Inn. What I did like was the room had an inner door as well as the outside door. If you stay a week we found the open hanging space for your clothes very small, certainly not enough space. Also there was a distinct lack of drawers. I got the impression that people stayed maybe 1-3 nights and not many a whole week. The bathroom was adequate with a washbasin, toilet and bath in which there was a shower and which had a shower curtain. It was a lovely surprise to have such very large fluffy bath towels.

Now for the meals in the hotel. Breakfast on our first and second day was ok but everything cooked was luke warm. We did complain and from then on the food was hot. We ate in what was known as The Conservatory which was nice and light and well furnished. The evening meals we thought were not up to standard and was the same menu every night, so we ended up going to an Inn down the road after the first night. This Inn proved to be absolutely delightful with a changing menu.

There is ample amount of parking for cars and motorcycles.

Would we stay at The Melbreak Hotel again, I have to say no but we did enjoy our week.

Stayed here for three nights on a stay and dine deal. Check in was swift and professional and the room allocated, number 11, was clan, well decorated and spacious. Although it faced the main road once the windows were closed there was minimal noise. Very comfortable bed and, for me, really good pillows. Bathroom was spacious and the shower was powerful with plenty of hot water. Evening meals were excellent, well cooked and well presented with really good service from the friendly serving staff. Breakfast was equally good and the service was first class. The toaster was the best I have used in any hotel, it needed only one pass to get perfect toast.
There are a few very minor things that need attention but these in no way diminish the very pleasurable experience of staying at this hotel. I can highly recommend staying here.

We stayed for 1 night on NYE in the superior room. We were very impressed upon arrival at the room and the hotel aswell. There was plenty of parking available. Although accomadtion was booked pretty last minute we were still offered a dinner reservation. The food was amazing and the service was great. The room was very comfy and we got a brill night's sleep. Breakfast was an add on to the cost of our stay, I think it was 12.50 per person. It was okay but nothing spectacular like the food the night before, just a basic continental, and cooked breakfast.

The staff were amazing and very accommodating, both on reception and in the restaurant.

Would definitely return again.

Very good value for money. The hotel felt safe. The breakfast was plentiful and the spacing of the tables was well laid out for social distancing. It's location is convenient for all western Lakes destinations. There is plenty of car parking space. I would visit again.

Staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, extremely welcoming on a cold Sunday night after travelling all day. We had 2 rooms, one was modern with a shower and modern appliances, the other had a shower over a bath and was probably in need of modernising but even still was perfectly clean and comfortable, with everything we needed. The breakfast was wonderful, we were there the minute they opened and it was not a problem to have hot meals immediately. Would not hesitate on staying here again! Thanks to all the team at Melbreak!

The Hotel was great. Lovely warm and friendly staff, always willing to accommodate any needs we had. The food was 5 star and very reasonably priced. The main hotel, bar, lounge and seating areas were well presented and comfortable. The Conservatory where you ate dinner and breakfast was light and airy and had a lovely ombionce whatvever meal you ate in there. The staff were always polite and smartly presented.

The room we had was nice. It had ample space for your luggage and good storage for your clothes etc. The tea & coffee tray was ok.

We stayed as part of a Groupon deal and it was excellent value for money as it included breakfast.

Breakfast was really good. Lots of choice, well cooked and well presented. Not long waiting times which again is good.

For me the only slight let down was the room we stayed in as the decor was a bit tired, it needed painting as scuff marks on the walls and peeling paint in the bathroom. However the room was spotless so a big plus. Bed was super comfy too.

Room also had a hairdryer and a fan which was great and on the landing you had use of an iron and ironing board.

I did notice in relation to the rooms that there is a big renovation underway of all the rooms and bathrooms I was told the bathrooms would be wet rooms after refurbishment.

We can't wait to return next year to see the changes!
