Just spent 2 night weekend stay here. Due to covit 19 I had anxiety issues about staying away from home in a hotel. My anxiety was soon put to rest when we arrived. There was a number of measures put in place to put my anxiety at ease, the wearing of face masks, the receptionist telling me the maid wont be coming into my room while we stayed, the cleanliness of the room was amazing and one you could smell in the air.
There is a Aldi across the road from the hotel which supplied us with essentials for breakfast and pack up for our local walking trips. (can recommend Milldale, make sure you have an ice cream best I have tasted)
There is a pub next door but one I wouldn't suggest using but that is my opinion.
Thank you again to the staff at the travelodge for making my stay a enjoyable one and will be recommending to family and friends.

I stayed here on a Saturday night whilst in the area with friends. We asked for an early check in (11 rather than 2) and the reception was very accommodating, we were charged £10 per room which seemed reasonable.
The rooms were modern, clean and the right temperature.
The staff could not have been more helpful, bringing a hairdryer to the room, letting us have lots more tea and milk and giving us advice about taxis and places to eat.
There was plenty of parking and the room was quiet.
My only mention would be it’s about a mile and a bit out of town but most Travelodge’s are and it was only £5 in a taxi or a 20 minute walk

At £24.99 for a Sunday night, my stay was a real bargain. Although it's a traditional appearance style Travelodge, it's bang up to date in terms of upkeep and maintenance with new carpets throughout. Fresh decor, immaculate rooms and smart modern barhrooms. On a bitter cold December day the electric radiator quickly brought the room up to a very toasty temperature. Lovely welcome at check-in and a nice farewell on departure. Plenty of parking with decent sized spaces and well lit at night. An Aldi next door caters for most needs and the Stepping Stones pub adjacent is big and welcoming for meals and drinks. You will however need a car when staying at this hotel, as the town of Ashbourne really isn't within walking distance and there was no evidence of any bus stops in the immediate vicinity.

Just got back from our 3 night stay here as we used it for a base as we visited Alton Towers for 2 days.
Basic room which 4 of us shared. 2 Adults 2 Children.
Childrens beds are fold out beds and neither of my children found them to be that comfortable and also had to change 1 of there sheets as it was very rough but reception changed it no problem.
Bathroom ok... Shower like a jet wash excellent pressure.
1 Bad point though and it is a big one is the room was really really hot during all 3 nights and we all struggled to get any quality sleep.
We had a fan but not sufficient on a hot summers night.
Air con needs to be fitted a.s.a.p
I would imagine a family staying in this room with very young children during a hot summers night would have a real battle.

Biggest plus about this hotel is the location as it 10-15 mins away from Alton Towers.

Pleasantly surprised with this travel lodge after not having the best experience with them before in other areas.
This one is set in such a beautiful place, with a field of sheep behind, a lovely pub/restaurant at one end of the carpark and an Aldi at the other side of the carpark.
We got a family room as it was basically the same price as a twin room. We only stayed for one night after a day in Alton Towers and was more then ready for a sit down so I was dreading the drive to the Travel Lodge but it was so quick and easy, we were there before we knew it. The room was spotless and well maintained which was really nice to see.
We went for a meal at the stepping stone pub but unfortunately there was no tables available so the lad recommended The Bowling Green (steak House) about a 4-5 minute drive away. I would 100% recommend visiting them, the food was unreal and the staff are lovely!
We returned to find a fan in our room which was greatly appreciated as it was SO hot that day and night, it made our sleep much easier.
Only downside to our stay was a young lad a few doors down from us smoking weed in his room, the smell lingered all the way down the corridors and even outside when I nipped to the car so we told the guy at reception who dealt with it quickly and the best he could.
Overall we were very pleased with our stay and would recommend to family & friends and would definitely stay again again if we return to the area :)

Got to hotel and discovered there was no electric, they allowed us to check in and then two hours later we were told to get stuff out of room and they weren’t getting electric back on. We and several other customers were stood in reception and was told by the staff that they weren’t sure when they could put us up in another hotel and to make sure we had a room to book ourselves and that travel lodge would refund the stay at Ashbourne and the new stay at Stafford M6 which was another 50 mins away with a 2 year old at 9pm. Ended up costing me almost £700, I’ve tried to get refund and the hotel staff are now lying and claiming they never told us to book another room. Not only will I never stay and this one I also will never stay at another travel lodge.

It's a Travelodge. It does what you want. It's clean the beds are comfy and the shower is hot. As others on the front desk have said the staff on the front desk are very helpful. Aldi Supermarket opposite and The Stepping Stones pub also part of the same area so handy for a drink and food. Ashbourne is 2 minute drive away. Dovedale about 15 minutes, so very convenient. Great value for the weekend in January, £50.40 for 2 nights for 2 people!

Visited previously and can't recommend enough how good this one is. Such clean rooms and lovely staff who will help with any enquiry. Room was spotless and warm on our arrival and although it may not be the most modern Travelodge it is perfect when in the area

Arrived to see a good amount of parking spaces. The hotel reception was clean and tidy. The receptionist wasn’t the most welcoming, but was quick checking us in.
Once we got to our rooms, we noticed the plug sockets weren’t working properly. They couldn’t charge any of our devices. Once we complained to the receptionist staff (took 20 mins for them to come out to the desk), we were told it’s due to the hotel being full capacity an there’s nothing they can do. Eventually the sockets stopped working all together, even for the kettle. No mention of maintenance being called - it was only 7:30pm.

Another thing to consider when booking, the rooms are not soundproof AT ALL. We could hear people walking around above our room throughout the night, as well as kids next door.

Safe to say, it wasn’t worth the money spent and won’t be using the travelodge again. May get a better nights sleep in a hostel for a better price.

It is stupid to charge 10 pounds extra when the guest arrives from multiple plain/train/bus/taxi combination to check in 30 minutes earlier than 3pm.
It is even more stupid that you don't even offer a place to drop the luggage or use a lavatory to change clothes if that 10 pounds not paid.
The shower on room 20 does not perform well.
The dispenser which was supposed to dispense 'foam soap' had something totally different in it- which was definitely nothing close to a foam soap. And this was not changed despite request from the staff.
