Brilliant holiday lodge park. The lodge was spotless on arrival, and the kids loved having the indoor pool to use. The park itself is clean and tidy, and the free mini golf and added bonus. Was a great base for us to explore the peak district

Visited Sandybrook at end of October. This was our second visit. Our first visit was brilliant. The cottage was very clean (I may even say cleaner than centerpacs). Staff members were lovely. The swimming pool whilst not big, was well maintained. Unfortunately, the experience this time was far from ideal. Once we checked into the cottage, I noticed pet hair in the area outside the bathroom and bedrooms. Understand sometimes it is difficult to clean pet hair so thought I'd just hover it up myself. When I was hovering, I then noticed a nail on the carpet in the area. It was a bit gross but thought I'd just hover it up. After that, I walked around the cottage and found 2 more bits of nail (both in the living room, one just in the middle of the room and one sort of at the edge of the sofa). I couldn't believe my eyes and called the reception to inform them of the situation. I was aware that they could send housekeeping in to clean again but since I had already hoovered half of the cottage myself, I thought I'd just finish the job rather than having to wait for the housekeeping team. The lady on the phone was sympathetic and said would pass on the feedback to the housekeeping team. After walking around the cottage for the afternoon and evening, my socks were filthy. It was obvious that the floor wasn't moped before our visit (or wasn't moped for quite awhie??). From a certain angle, you can see shoe prints on the floor (because it is dark brown wood, you can't see it well). My conclusion, unfortunately, for this occasion is that the floor was simply not cleaned before arrival. If anyone had attempted to hover the floor, the hover would have picked up the pet hair and nails with no problem. I also found crumbs on the dinning table, kitchen counter and on the floor near the kitchen counter. Appreciate that nowadays a lot of businesses are trying to save money and housekeeping are assigned a lot cottages to clean. I do not expect the cottage to be immaculate, especially it is a pet friendly one. However, I certainly do not expect to find nails on the floor or carpet. Having to hover the whole cottage after a long drive wasn't an ideal way to start the day. To finish off this review, I thought I'd list the positives as I appreciate that maybe for whatever reason, they just could not clean the floor on this occasion. Pros Nice friendly staff Fairly priced cottage Cottage was in fairly good condition (except questionable hygiene) Good amenities in the cottage. It had everything we needed. The fireplace was on upon arrival, which was a lovely touch. Swimming pool and changing area were clean Would I visit again? If I am visiting Alton Towers and am looking for somewhere to stay then I will chance it.

Dear VC17, I am very sorry for the issues you raised in your review. I can assure you that the housekeeping team is trained to clean the lodges to a very high standard and this is why it is very disappointing to read your review and hear your comments from the reception team. I can understand why you did not want the housekeeping team to come back into your lodge after your initial discovery but if they had they would have hoovered and mopped the floor and resolved the issues that subsequently were encountered. During wet weather, it is challenging to clean those lodges that have had pets in them but the staff should make sure this is done. Your comments have already been fed back to the team that cleaned your lodge prior to arrival and extra training has been given. I am sorry for the experience you had!

Beautiful site and very friendly staff. Lodge was spotless and had everything we needed and more. Stayed in the Vista lodge and it’s incredible. Large veranda with lots of seating and even 2 sun beds which although October was perfect for stargazing. Husband and son loved the hot tub too! The bathrooms are perfect with a large walk in shower in one and an amazing bath with built in wall tv in the other. Beds lovely and comfortable and the seating areas are very spacious. Kitchen very well equipped with a gusto coffee machine! We would certainly stay again as it’s also a really good base for the surrounding areas which are stunning

We recently stayed at sandybrook as a family of 4 , 2 adults and 2 children ages 5 and 8 we booked the exclusive vista spa lodge and it was perfect! It was 2 large bedrooms both with an en-suite ,master bedroom has a free standing bath with a tv in the wall and a shower and the other room a large shower and a dressing table area both with plenty of storage for clothes. The kitchen and living space was a large area the kitchen came fully equipped with everything you need an more the extra touch’s of a dolce gusto coffee machine (pods provided) ,dish washer (2 tablets provided ), washing machine and wine cooler went down very well. The kids were very happy to find a PlayStation provided with a few build in games also there was Netflix, Disney channel, bbc etc which was perfect for our family altho didn’t get watched much as the jucuzzi on the patio area was constantly on. We visited during term time so it was lovely and quiet there’s a park on site, mini golf, swimming pool and a games room I must admit the games room does need some work I believe theres a toddler playroom aswell but obviously wasn’t needed by us. During our stay we visited Matlock farm park, Alton towers and the play villiage so we had plenty planned to keep the kids entertained so the lodge was great to relax in. I can’t fault anything about our stay the ladies on reception were lovely and very helpful.

Check in was super easy and quick and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The lodge was very clean and fully equipped. Plenty to do in the holiday park if the weather isn't great and some lovely walks and activities to do nearby within 30mins drive (stepping stones and heights of Abraham). Pool was smaller than expected but was never crowded despite it being a little rainy. Mini golf was good fun and the toddler room was great too keep the little ones occupied.

Good value stay in August. Really friendly and helpful staff, and a small range of nicely looked after facilities. Baby loved the toddler room and swimming pool. The sauna and jacuzzi bath in the lodge were lovely. It's an quick drive to some easy walking and cycling routes, for example the Tissington Trail starts about 10 mins drive away in Ashbourne. It would be a good stay for older children, if you're a family that's into walking and cycling instead of arcades and evening entertainment. Having a baby means we create a small mountain of dirty laundry every 5 minutes. The washing machine and dryer on site was free, which was a very nice change from being scalped for using the machines at normal holiday parks.

Where do we start, the lodges aren’t what is advertised, they aren’t luxurious, shower didn’t work in the main bathroom, grout hadn’t been cleaned, decking was slippy when wet and covered in leaves when we arrived. The timber on the lodges isn’t weathering well and gave an impression that maintenance wasn’t a top priority, that and the chipped jacuzzi. The nature walk was limited in length, narrow and branches had been put down over the boggy section. The restaurant was closed, no information was provided on why, the games room was enjoyable , but the air hockey was partially broken, the fuzball didn’t spin as it should. In our opinion, not good value for money. Will not book again, will try an air bnb.

Dear jamesgM7331JH, I am very disappointed to hear that you did not enjoy your stay at Sandybrook. I have tried to identify your booking but with no name or lodge number, I can't. We have checked all our feedback from recent guests and can find no reference to anyone leaving unhappy. It seems from checking with the reception team that none of the issues you raise were reported to the staff on-site during your stay. Unfortunately with the amount of rain we have had over the last few weeks the decking and park grounds are slippy and the woodland walk may be muddy but we would advise all guests to be careful. The restaurant has now been closed for over 2 years and we have not advertised that this is available anywhere so would expect that you were not aware prior to arrival. It is always disappointing to receive a negative review when the park gets such positive feedback as can be seen from the other reviews. If you have any further feedback don't hesitate to contact us on customerservice@pinelodgeholidays.co.uk

Landal Sandybrook is the smaller of the two peak district Landal lodge parks, and (usually) the quieter of the two as well. We arrived on a very rainy saturday night and were just about to get settled in when a fault was discovered with our lodge. The measure of good customer service is not how they deal with the mundane everyday stuff but how quickly they deal with something that has the potential to ruin your holiday, and I'm delighted to say that staff at Landal Sandybrook were quick, friendly and efficient to deal with the issue and get us settled into an alternative accommodation without any fuss or bother, very gratefully appreciated by a family of very tired wet travellers by that point. The lodges are extremely comfortable, featuring just about everything you'd need for a family stay. The kitchen is well kitted out (even boasting a pizza tray and cutter, something we've missed in other places) and even enough kitchen kit for me to be able to knock up a pizza from scratch (no rolling pin though, awww!, but we made do!) Landal Sandybrook has its own pool with a jacuzzi nearby, and a steam room if you really want to work up a sweat (not that we needed it in a very hot summer like we've had). The pool is a good size, plenty long enough to get in a few lengths for more exercise conscious folk, (and nice to see a rule saying "no mindless throwing balls around in the pool" - but I'll come back to the ball thing later). Again staff were quick to help with any queries, and had a selection of bits and bobs for sale on reception as well as movies to rent to play on your lodge Blu Ray player if you really do get rained in one evening! There's also a games room kitted out with pool and fussball tables to keep the kids amused, and a recreation area for the same. The park also boasts a couple of EV charging areas which was good to see, and a mini golf course so even if you do opt to stick around the lodge for the day the kids shouldn't get too bored. I think it's fair to say that it's probably not a park to go to if you want peace and quiet, unless you go out of school holiday times when it's probably a lot more peaceful. One thing that bugged me personally was the amount of kids who saw the communal areas between lodges (and the roads too) as a good place to kick a ball around or against your lodge wall, despite there being a huge field and football pitch laid out for the purpose. While mum and dad sat in the hot tub kids often seemed to get bored and opt to annoy other folk trying to enjoy a quiet holiday but this isn't really a reflection on the park, just worth noting if the sound of a boy bouncing a football for hours on end is the sort of thing that sets your nerves on edge (as I said, personally it's like fingernails down a blackboard to me so didn't enjoy that aspect of our stay at all). Overall though, Sandybrook is still an excellent place to stay and ideally located for exploring some of the best bits of the Peak District with Matlock, Buxton and the Peaks themselves just a stonesthrow away, and the town of Ashbourne within walking distance if you (like us) don't mind a 20 minute walk. Once again though our huge thanks to the staff who were just brilliant!

Your thorough review of the park and the area will be very useful for guests looking to book in the future.
