The George and Dragon is a family run town pub with en-suite accommodation. We serve home cooked food all day 12-8pm, We are situated on the market place. We started our adventure two years ago and have managed to gain a great reputation through our home cooked food, great beers and our newly decorated en-suite rooms. Come and see for yourself.

We popped in here for lunch and was greeted by the lovely staff team who were very accommodating. We are a family of four and we had lovely, filling meals. Just what we needed on a wet and chilly day.

Overnight stay to celebrate daughter's birthday. Booked a couple of weeks in advance - 2 doubles by mistake which we hadn't realised until checking in, offered a twin instead but we were ok with what we had. We asked to book a table (Saturday evening) - staff explained that fully booked (as would everywhere else be) but promised to fit us in. Which they did and a great table it was too. Varied menu and plenty to suit non-meat eaters. Rooms spacious, clean and comfortable. Ideal stopover and suited our needs. Clear expectations / markings in terms of social distancing / Covid-19 requirements. Hand sanitising stations available. Would definitely return. Good food, helpful and friendly staff, great service, comfy rooms.

New Covid restrictions and we were a bit nervous and anxious about getting a table- we had tried a few other places in Ashbourne- but lots of people spilling out of bars and we were unsure - however were welcomed with a huge smile by Lucy and were treated to the most unpretentious yet satisfying menu- good lovely service - wish all pubs were like this -fantastic we will return

We stayed at this pub and our experience was fantastic. Accomodating is an understatement. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience possible. They have ensured they are covid safe and it's so important that everyone understands that this means there may be a little delay, this is to be expected anywhere. I have never felt so welcome and around such genuine people.

We have visited the George and Dragon several times whilst on holiday in the area. This years 2 week staycation included 2 visits to the pub. Both times this holiday the food and drink have been spot on, in fact no difference in the quality and service from previous visits.
