The Cedars is a grand old house with character and lovely chandaliers in the hall and the bedroom we stayed in. The room was large with a good sized double bed and separate bathroom . The location is very good just down the road from the train station and all town amenities easily walkable. The breakfast was good in a...

Having read the reviews, I thought I would chance it. Five years after the review by K-Man62 and I have similar feedback. Owners are friendly but the whole place needs cleaning and updating thoroughly. My room was generally clean though the shower needs a proper scrub to remove the black mould you sometimes get and the carpeting in the bedroom...

The Cedars is a lovely old house with much history and we had large room with lobby and large bathroom both with Edwardian style furniture. The view from our window over Chevinside was superb. We stayed during a very cold April-May weekend but the heating made it very cosy - it was also adjustable! Nothing was too much trouble for...

The room was clean. The room was freezing cold at night, the heating was turned off at 10pm and it was snowing. The breakfast was awful. One rasher of bacon, one sausage, a teaspoon of baked beans and one plum tomato. That was our full English.

Owners friendly and i enjoyed sitting around the breakfast table with other travellers. Rooms basic but the facilities are all there and definitely value for money. Would and hopefully will visit again.

The hotel was well situated. Lived there for 2 months for work reasons. Neil the owner is a good man. There were a couple of issues however with the stay. My room had serious Internet problems that my devices were initially blamed for and the milk for breakfast had gone off on several occasions. Besides that the bed was large,...

This is a family run B&B, the accommodation is excellent, and the breakfast is one of the best. What a lovely place to stay and the village is beautiful, plenty of nice places to visit in the heart of Derbyshire. You will not be disappointed with your stay there and the hospitality is second to none, fantastic. We have stayed...

The Cedars has so much potential, if only it could be realised. Before entering one is confronted in the parking area with old matresses, broken vacuum cleaner in bits, plus general rubbish, piled up high. Not the most welcoming of sights. The entrance into the B&B is lovely with a beautiful staircase but as you ascend it one sees the...

We needed an overnight stay as we were at a wedding do nearby. The Cedars proved to be a good value stop over. OK, everything was not top notch but you certainly couldn't knock the service, cleanliness and the breakfast. It's a place you would go back to with confidence if you were in the area but not somewhere you...
